The late cut off Shane Warne is an amazing shot! That was played against the spin and the ball was spinning huge. I guess that is Brian Lara for us. Only he can play those shots!

Especially the cover drives and that cut shot off MacGill (the only way to play it was to read the googly). Against an attack of Warne, McGrath, Macgill and Gillespie, it is just incredible.
Goodness that was a shockingly poor shot to get out on too. Not sure what he was thinking with playing across the line when we know he can play a fantastic straight drive. Overcomplicating things for no reason when could have just punched the ball down the ground with a straight bat.
Besides that this is a great innings. Masterclass in pressure-cooker batting. Shame that after him West Indies have slumped massively in Test Cricket, they were always fun to watch.
I forgot to add - the guy freakishly also got 500 as a highest score in First Class match. The sheer amount of scores 300+ in FC and International career means it was no fluke; but I find myself scratching my head...HOW? It only takes one ball to dismiss a batsman.
I rate Brian Lara as easily second to Bradman - the sheer amount of 200 + was phenomenal. The thing that amazed me was how he stole back highest Test score from Hayden - and made a massive 400. Hayden's innings was obviously good - but on a docile WACA wicket against a decimated Zimbabwean team - Brians 375 prior and his subsequent world record was more impressive. Sachin's sheer talent does amaze me - but watching his childish tirade today - convinced he was more upset about records.

just a couple of months prior to this, sachin tendulkar had thrown away a certain test victory against pakistan in chennai..okay his back was hurting but he could have stayed a little longer with just 17 more runs to get instead of playing a rash shot and getting out.

I really feel myself fortunate that I was born in the time of Brian Lara playing on the field live!! the next generation will never feel the same sheer excitement that we had watching him on the pitch... he is the greatest ever!!! This series was so amazing to watch, its probably the first test series i watched that i still remember so vividly, and Lara was astonishingly good throughout. The matchwinning 213, this single handed 153 and an amazing fast hundred in the last test , was something like 80 balls iirc... three amazing knocks!

the game was like a chess match at the end, with Waugh pulling in fielders for the last 2-3 balls, and Lara hitting boundaries of the penultimate ball and taking a single of the final one.
