man, as much as I love SSFIV, when I play SFIII and SSFIV, I can't help but feel like the developers took a step backwards in terms of gameplay mechanics and features. Am I wrong in saying SSFIV is just SSFII in 3D?
@zidaneff I kind of agree, but I think graphics are a bigger factor for me in comparing the two. SF3 series is just so beautifully animated, and all of the characters have a great style and "crunch" when their hits connect. Compare Dudley in 3 to Dudley in 4, and to me it's like night and day. Even just his standing animation looks more elaborate in SF3.
I dunno, I think 4 is a good game, but maybe it just feels more...manufactured? Almost like it was the box-cake version of SF.
@KillYounglings I agree completely, but it's kind of a moot point to compare 2D sprites to 3D polygons. Then it becomes a matter of preference. I could totally get into another Street Fighter game with sprites. Maybe SFIII with HD sprites ala HD Remix, but keeping the fluid animations. That sounds like it'd be worth $50 to me. Or maybe just me.
You sure don't make an effort to keep up with SFIII's tournaments anymore, otherwise you'd know Ken and Chun players are now a dying breed. Diversity has spread, players are still getting better. You sound like the typical sort, so I'll guess you never effectively got to use the parry system and therefore think it is useless. Funny guy!
Dude! Thanks for uploading- I couldnt find much on SF 3 NG for the longest time, so i put together my own, but this one takes the cake- Good stuff and happy holidays!
what is the difference between all the SFIIIs? I recently got 3rd strike and like it a lot. but what is the difference between that and these? any new characters or anything?
3rd Strike added Remy, Makoto, Twelve, Q, and Chun-Li, 2nd Impact had Urien, Hugo, and Akuma's debut.
Through all 3 versions, there's been tweaks in the system and added/removed moves. Some characters that don't seem so great in 3rd Strike can be really beefy in 2nd Impact or New Generation.
And thats why I fucking HATE crapcom fighters but SF3 3rd Strike. All those BROKEN ass infinites and glitched stuns and everything that WAS taken off 3rd Strike THANK GOD!!! Also I really see why 3rd Strike had a body makeover to be a technical style rather than BS BROKEN worse SF3 New Generation and SF3 2nd Impact.
Without the good and the bad from the previous 2 games you wouldn't even HAVE 3rd Strike. Also, there are still quite a few busted things in 3S, so don't act like your shit don't stink.

Dude 3s is a terrible game with no balance. Chun and Ken are too much better than everyone else. 2nd impact, cvs and especially mvc2 are all much more fun to play.
@strykah92 dude sf3 is pretty lame. It's like the bastard child of the street fighter series. MVC2 will be played in tournaments long after everyone forgets about 3rd strike. The only cool thing about 3s is the music. Super Turbo is just a better game. Don't agree? Look at street fighter 4. It's more like Super Turbo. Everyone wants to forget about this crappy game exept you diehard 3s fans.
@nigmar Care you elaborate on why SFIII was lame and why ST was a better game? Progession wise, Capcom did nothing differently going from SFII to SFIII, compared to the very first Street Fighter progressing to SFII.
And you're damn right about the music, us, real fans of the fighting genre will be GETTING IT ON while all the casuals, part timers, get TAKEN FOR A RIDE.
@strykah92 the parry ruins the gameplay and the game is totally unbalanced(Ken and Chun run the game). I know marvel is poorly balanced but the gameplay is solid.
@nigmar the parry ruins the game? in what world? parry system require more skill so if you want a competitive gameplay it surely help. The fact that sf4 doesn't have it doesn't mean it was lame, infact that absorbing dmg shit is definately lamer, in my opinion. SF3 is not the bastard son of sf is just THE CHOSEN ONE, almost the perfect fighting game ^_^
I'm also a fan of this game excellent game. The combos are just as spectacular as it was damaging to your unlucky opponent?? (If theres one!!!), but, those where just showoffs and can't be applied in real situation as there where no players controlling your opponents!!! It is still possible in the first 3 matches though......
I watched the entire 37:08, and it was pretty impressive. The combos were expertly done, the art was cool (is that fan art or official Capcom art?), and the end credit song was a nice touch to the ending.
After seeing this vid, I also want to play 2nd Impact. Too bad theres only 3rd Strike for ps2
Oh a knockback effect is the thing that kinda pushs you character back from your opponent when your pulling a combo off on them in the corner or when your excuting a pressure string. It suppose to prevent loops and infinites from happening.
Yes there is. In the video, several combos need to be done with Karas. I guess the knockback effect isn't as accurate as the arcade version, since this is probably the Dreamcast Version.

Oh so that's how it is done. Thanks. I think it's possible in 3rd Strike. I've seen one or two matches where Yun players MK cancelled to Genei Jin. Maybe that's different *shrugs*.
The "free play" at the top right is a sure sign it's the arcade version. not only that, but if you're really observant you'll notice that the last combos for each characters are from New Generation, and the combos inbetween are from 2nd impact. look at the super background if you don't believe me.
wow, double impact seems so much more fluid like than 3rd strike is..i'd like to play this game better than 3rd strike to be honest, not just for the juggling, but i love the fast paced style that games like alpha 3 had.
How do you guys pull of using a special, but then a standard attack immediately after? Ex: at 6:45 Alex uses that "Sonic Boom" attack and immediately after does either a Short or Forward kick.
Well if voice overs and sound effects are the only thing that concern you then 3rd strike is better, but im afraid everyting else got worse in 3rd strike......far as I see it
Do you know where I can find that track? I know it's from Castlevania: Rondo of Blood but I have no idea where to start looking and I really want that track. :X
