  • A utility razor works better.

  • These things are pain in the ass.

  • I hate clamshell packages! I've literally lost blood because of them.

  • broke my can opener asshole

  • why doesn't this sh*t work for me? All the can opener does is make tiny dot indentations around the border.

  • Personally i find using scissors is the best option

  • That seems even more inconvenient than just grabbing a pair of scissors or not being a pussy at all and ripping it open..

  • wow i've never thought of that

  • logitech mouse came in a preforated thing where you pull a tab or something and it pops out. Best clamshell ever. No need for a can opener. But some packs are horrible.

  • Have you never heard of scissors?

  • i just burn em

  • Thank you for the innovative thought process. Why are there so many idiots in the world that can't use tools? Man up people, it's time you learned how to use a pair of scissors!

  • he knows how, its just easier top use a can opener. you have anger problems.

  • In our next video: How to rake your lawn with a toothpick.

  • That took FOREVER! Here's my method:

Step 1: Open it with a knife.

    Tadah!!

  • now my brand new can opener is dull and will not even open a can... my attorney will be in contact with you to settle this.

  • I could have had it opened and hooked up the the game console and already wore it out using my technique over this one. Try cutting along the edge with a box cutter and open. If you are dumb enough to cut yourself, you probably aren't bright enough to even use the product. Why is common sense not used anymore?

  • cut an x shape on the back of the package with a box cutter or cut along the side with a scissor not a helpful video at all

  • Best hands ever!!!!

  • Yay! Hand fan mail!

And cool - the hand hate mail got marked as spam, and not by my puny hands. Maybe there is hope for humanity...

  • Haha, wow. I never knew hands could get so much hate mail!

  • genius!!!!!

  • Here's an even better idea! Maybe the producers can not put their products in 'impossible to open' containers! Easy!

  • I get it - use the can opener and when you get tired of farting around with that, get out a knife and cut the package open.

  • The knife might slip...oh no!!

  • Does this person have two broken hands? How about kitchen shears/scissors to do it in 1/4 the time? Who needs a video to open a plastic container anyway?

  • Trying to open a package like that with sciccors will have you end up with two broken hands AND broken sciccors.

  • This looks easier than using scissors imo.

  • Yeah, like no one has ever tried using scissors, duh. Of course everyone uses scissors and it's just as annoying using them too which takes some serious strength. Use your scissors, this looks easier to start it off and then finish with the knife (which everyone also does after breaking your wrist using the scissors).

  • Oh PLEASE. Put away the kiddy scissors, and use a decent pair of kitchen scissors. No effort needed, and be done in 1/4 of the time of this can opener fool.

  • So much hate over a different way of doing something. You do your scissors and knife and I'll grab the can opener. There's no law you have to do it either way. Gnaw the thing with your teeth if that suits you.

  • lol to the knife....as if using the can opener first made it anymore safe.....

  • Wow.. a can opener and a knife to finish it off.. Genius! *rolling eyes* A pair of scissors would have been the answer. Granted, it is still annoying with whatever tool. Makes me wanna just burn the darn thing.

  • Could have just used a knife the whole time instead of using the Can opener at all

  • Wrong. Here's how you do it. Attempt to open package with hands. Cut yourself. Curse. Attempt to open with knife. Cut yourself. Curse. Stab package with knife. Stab yourself. Fall into blind rage. Bite package. Break tooth. Howl like a rabid dog. Throw package. Return contents now broken, to the store. Demand refund because it's still in the package. When they notice blood and drool on the package, say "It came that way". Drive to hospital. Drive to dentist.. Buy new toy in same package. Repeat.

  • Honey, a pair of scissors does the exact if not a better job of opening plastic packages.

  • And yet he used a knife to finish opening the plastic package... Yes, that's much safer than a pair of scissors. O.o Think, before you type!

  • You clearly need to learn how to read, Think before you type!

I said a CAN OPENER is more CONVENIENT(better) than a KNIFE and/or SCISSORS.

  • Whatever blows your skirt up but know that I wasn't the one who's comment got spammed...

  • And yet you go around what i said, go ahead lady.. and for your info,i spammed my comment, cause it appeard here twice, little lady daughter

  • what a complex answer to such an easy problem... did he ever consider using scissors...

  • Comment removed

  • a scissor is still easier, they jst made it look unique in this video using a can opener w/c uses a lot of effort than a scissor

  • mutt bucket

  • finally, a way to open those things. man do they piss me off.

  • that's freaking awesome!

  • People keep saying scissors but has their ever been a time when you couldn't find a pair. Growing up with siblings and now living with a roommate people don't always put scissors back because they are used for so many things. On the other hand can openers are always easy to find because they will never leave the kitchen. Scissors who knows what people use scissors for they have too many uses. A can opener is a very convenient alternative and a lot safer than a knife.

  • a person that doesn't even have scissors definitely isn't going to own a can-opener, haha!

  • gah i hate clameshell packages! i get so frustrated sometimes i stab the package repeatedly until it comes loose.i remember a little kid tell me that clamshell pakaging was the work of the devil and that we had to do what ever we can to destroy it.o.o

  • wow, who knew it was that easy? but i could do it twice as fast with scissors and muscle power!

  • Nice for a young child see the hands .But safer without a knife to use sizzors and cut around just inside the sealed area. Then dont forget to cut the peices in half or discose of the hard sharp plastic in the garbage.

  • It's called using a utility knife. Cut away from yourself, and there's less chance of damaging the item or yourself (or your kitchen floor, like this person nearly does). So simple, even you can do it.

  • Still too hard. I just use scissors with some manly muscle power.

  • can't you just use scissors?

    it's faster and more efficient...

  • i can open it faster with scissors

  • I hate those clamshell packages! And to those haters, scissors sometimes can't do the job safely

  • God ... you might lose your finger by opening it with a knife and a can opener .

The simplest way to open it is...with A PAIR OF SCISSORS !

  • A decent pair of kitchen shears works wonders with much less hassle.

  • still looks hard to open! gosh! let me know when there is a way to just pop them open and get the item out. you can still lose fingers doing this!

  • who the hell has packaged gamecube controlers lying around?

  • They still sell them for the wii. I bought a 3rd part controller just a week ago so I could play snes and n54 games on the family wii.

  • Apperently the kid who made this video was So mentally retarded at birth his parents never even let him see a pair of SCISSORS in the entire span of his Sad Stupid life!! But a GIANT Knife is somehow safer..humm and with scissors i would already be playing the game by the time he got the canopener attached to the package!! ALSO what were people using before that would make this a quicker safer method.......a spoon?? Nail clippers??

  • use your manly muscles pussy

  • If you put it over FIRE it will get soft and melt. While its still soft use your fingers to pry it open. Works well

  • or... you could cut it open with a knife in about one tenth of the time

  • wow thanks. that should go well with your game cube. lol

  • I have some of the sharpest knifes on EARTH and they will not stand up to this maddening crap. I've almost DESTROYED scissor as well. I usually end up using a box cutter and almost hacking off a finger. This is a GREAT IDEA.

  • Try using a stanley utility knife ona cutting board, it takes seconds.

  • I'm a loser for watching this

  • lol. use a scissor. much faster and you don't need a knife

  • ...teeth are better...

  • Yahoo is getting lame

  • wwe is getting lame

  • wow kid, great vid

  • That video is a minute too long, you get a pair of scissors, cut down the side and viola the package is open.

  • Scissors work well with this stuff. Ive always used scissors and never have had a problem. I tryed a knife once though, and cut myself badly. This is the most retarded video ever.

  • I like your idea, but the knife is still scary. You're right - regular scissors don't work well at all. I have electric scissors that usually work.

By far, the best solution would be to get rid of that sort of packaging! It's terrible for the environment anyway, let alone people. :o)

  • I have an electric knife for the kitchen. It does the trick easy enough.

  • A normal size pair of scissors works best. U dopes are making things far to complicated.

  • i think the easiest way to open up this kind of packaging is to use a chainsaw. Ive been doing it for years and it still hasn't failed me yet, just be careful not to damage the product.

  • i think i did this b4

  • Regular scissors usually don't make it past that ridged edge without a lot of force & frustration. And I didn't want to dull my expensive sewing scissors on this.

The can opener is good for making an initial cut, but it doesn't make it around the corners, hence the knife (the only sharp one I had happened to be...huge!).

And I repeat, Gamecube is awesome. =)

  • @KrystleBlair the pair of scissors did me just fine.. im still using it.. it hasnt become dull or blunted in any way.. besides, if that hapens, u can have them sharpened anyway ryt?

  • never thought of a can opener.... interesting. i'll try this next time.

  • An electric can opener might be easier...am trying that next time, lol.

  • Wow..one word for the retarded... Scissors,

    Man people are stupid.

  • i just take my knife, run it around the inside of the back and rip a window out..

  • HOLY SHIT!!!!! did you see how fast he opened it? here is what i do... first, i tape off an area in the middle. also, underneath the tape, i place small hard items, like battaries, etc , to act as kind of a guard rail. then , i dull my razor blade just a little on the concrete floor, as to avoid injury. then i carefully follow the outlined area, cutting slow and meticulously... and finally, remove the product..

nah, im fuckin with ya... i use a razorknife and my teeth... and me mitts

  • How about cut one end open with scissors and then yank it open?

  • I use scissors or a box cutter. It's much faster and easier. I suppose you could also use a kitchen knife. But, hey, why not add that extra step.

  • what retro store did they buy that gamecube controller from?

  • Comment removed

  • This is a good idea but I don't think there is anything miraculous about it. While you are using the can opener the packaging can cut your hand or arm pretty good, and using a knife as shown is very risky. I just use industrial scissors bought at the dollar store or Harbor Freight Tools. It is much safe than what is shown.

  • The only useful reason using a can opener to open clamshell packaging would be making it a competition event at the Special Olympics. A freakin' box cutter is way easier and quicker on clamshell packaging.

  • this video makes it look a lot more difficult than it really is

  • "How to open clam shell packaging...just use a can opener, fight the piss out of it and then grab a knife" Did you see her struggle with opener? KIngofmean-I also find the boxcutter to be fast, just turn the product face down and zip it along from corner to corner and it's done! This vid sucks! This is not a good way to open these packages!

  • Wow. Why not just use the knife on the entire thing. Doesn't make much sense to cut one side with a can opener, only to still have to finish the other 3 sides with a knife.

  • Boxcutter ..takes all of five seconds.

  • I like this idea. I think everyone who has something negative to say just feels stupid they didn't think of this first. The can opener could have been used around the whole pack saving time and using this method it could be more easily returned if necessary. Scissors works, yes, but I have been poked by the edge of the plastic even using those, especially weak small pairs. Thanks!

  • this is for people too fucking stupid to use scissors with cutting themselves.. and yes.. choice777 couldn't have said it better...

  • This guy must be a real brain surgeon. 1:14 to open that simple package? You can open those plastic cases in about 15 seconds with a common tool, so simple, I wont even tell anyone what it is because the tool has been mentioned 100 times in the comments previous to mine. Good luck flushing the toilet Super Man...

  • Yes scissors pretty much do the trick...but i guess if you don't have any this would work

  • WOW! It's MacGyver! Scissors work pretty well, and you don't need a knife to finish up the job. I especially enjoyed the 1980s porno music that accompanied the demo.

  • It's called fucking scissors jesus christ america you lazy fucks.

  • what a fucking weakling !!!!

  • wow.... its amazing how hard people try to make the simple things in life. get some scissors and call it a day

  • If you're already at home, why not just use a pair of scissors? It's not hard to use a knife either dude. Nice method though, very creative.

  • I take my buck knife and start slicing away like I'm back in Nam!

  • This poor guy must be an engineer wannabe. Far simpler to use a pair of 4-6" scissors. They're both faster and safer.

  • This guy probably drops the convertible top and climbs out of his car, too.

  • I used a blow torch, hammer and cold chisel. Burnt the wires first time but no prob on the second time around.

  • This was stupid, I watched this video thinking it was an easy way to open the plastic casing but I was wrong. Seriously a can opener and a Michael Myers knife??? I could open the plastic casing quicker with a pair of scissors.

  • moby dick said it all

  • Sorry, but large scissors are the easiest and safest way to open the package. If you need a can opener AND knife, you're a complete idiot! Sorry!

  • okay..... After reading a little ways back in the comments this person says in their own words they are "just a petite chick."

now it makes sense that this person needed a different way to open these plastic packs...

someone that is petite most likely wouldn't have the arm strength [no offense] to muscle their way through with scissors....but still a box cutter would be easier.

  • I also find it hard to use scissors because the plastic you are cutting through is still very close together, so that you have to move your hand up through the jagged, sharp pieces as you cut. I'm going to try the can opener.

  • I use scissors and open it from little hole type opening, where the hook goes to hang the thing

  • dude i just use scissors and open it up in less than 10 seconds.....

  • Yea same here, works like a charm.

  • lol you should of added an instant replay in slow motion so we got the point. Then add tips. Or just use the knife to cut a hole. But i mean that would be to easy and not worth a youtube video. :(

  • Why use a can opener? I just stab the shit out of it with a pocket knife and get it out ten times faster than this vid.

  • just use heavy duty scissors, this way takes too long. Just cut along the seal and then it pop right open afterwards

  • I'm talking about speed here.

  • fukin moran

  • Christ, just use a box cutter or an x-acto knife and cut all the way around just inside of the lip on the packaging. If you those two tools are too dangerous well then....you're a tool, and shouldn't be allowed to shave!

  • Such a time consuming process. Hell, i would just use a damn scissor.

  • i have a better solution... kill every human being. then nobody would make such crap. thanks for the tip guy.

  • well holy fuck.......son of a bitch that will save alot of time.

  • the packaging that is

  • who ever invented this stuff is an asshole

  • I tried it on a package I have and IT DID NOT WORK!!!

Maybe the can opener must be new and sharper than what I have.

  • y not jus use nife and safe time and be carefule dont be a jackass and stab your ball

  • Are Fing kidding me worst way I have ever seen. I used a xacto knife or scissors I am exhausted just watching you plus half a days work, geesh

  • I really loath this packages for all the environmental reasons given in the article. I open with a utility knife (retractable blade) found in hardware stores. Not for kids though.

  • just use a pair of shears. A knife is an invitation to visit the emergency ward at the hospital.

  • not to be a total jackas, but really? A can opener? Because scissors are so last week

  • okay, that just has to be the coolest thing i've seen this week

  • haha, its like a pistachio.

have an adult do it, they have more strength to keep it steady (and not bouncing around all over the place)

  • such tiny hands and uncoordinated

what are you like 10 yrs old?

  • Bah, that doesn't help me at all, I was hoping to learn something to help me steal stuff! Lol jk xD

  • real safe with the huge knife!

  • Yeah I guess that's clever, but a nice pair of kitchen scissors used right where you used the knife is faster, safer, and easier.

  • sissors is the best option....

  • im not sure how much safer it is to do it this way....much safer probably to just use a good pair of scissors.

  • scissors

  • Forget the knife, strong scissors are all you need to open these packages.

I could open 10 of those with scissors before they were even finished with the can opener.

  • wow y use the the can opener..... scissors r the best way to go

  • hm saw this on yahoo. why go through the hassle with a can opener, all u need is a knife or scissors...

  • my life problems are solved

  • A pair of decent scissors would do that with a shitload less time and effort.

The fact that you have to use a knife after the can opener renders this completely

    poinless.

  • and ultimately go for knife in the end...seriously man use some scissors to cut 3 sides off. The people at yahoo must not have watched this to the end...

  • yo lol wtf just use a knife to start. stab that shit, rip open. TA DAAAAA opened.

  • This looks harder than opening a can of tuna fish. I'll stick with using a knife. thanks.

  • Dude, you're a freakin genius

  • So, scissors usually work fine for me, and no injuries.

  • They had to invent that packaging because blacks steal a lot

  • What's blacks? Pls Enlighten me.

  • Comment removed

  • seriously? and they STILL use a knife??

where's the disclaimer about not using sharp objects?

Kids, DONT TRY THIS AT HOME!!

    yeesh.

  • Anything but this would have been quicker. If it wasnt that expensive of an item Id chuck it againts the wall to open it. And yes... even use my teeth.

  • The knife would have been quicker than screwing with the can opener.

  • Yes I know That is Why I Said What Bunch Of Clowns.

  • grats on making it to yahoo

  • this sounds like porno music

  • o.o i'd like to knoe wat kinda porn u watch o.o'

  • Comment removed

  • uh huh,.....yeah.....thats still stupid

  • What a clown!

Use a pair of scissors (DUH)!

If you can't open it with scissors with out hurting yourself, have mommy or daddy help.

    Seriously, what bunch of clowns.

  • clowns? XD weird insult if your trying to sound all high and mighty

  • That looks like a pretty good way to do it and preserve the instructions. This packaging material stays sharp forever, so it's worth a little time to do it right. People complaining about the long process to open it... is your minute and fourteen seconds really that important? Really?

  • I was like *huh* good idea.. can opener, then the knife appeared and i was like HOLY SHIET

  • I know, that made me lol. I was just watchin' him casually open it with a can opener, then out of no where comes a big-ass knife, lol.

  • Great idea! This video made yahoo's front page, too!

  • seriously? gamecube...

  • People are so exaggerated, why is this an issue?

Try scissors or any other object like that and, of course be careful.

Some people are just plain careless!

  • wow nice!
