  • Beautiful song!

  • glad you enjoyed it...do you really discern Hope in his paintings?

I am not so sure I do...

  • @adiostraitorobama Alienation would be a more apt description. The artist was trying to show how the urban environment separated us from each other but he also suffered from depression.

  • gamesman, It kind of makes you easily imagine this scene, doesn't it?

Look at the painter's self-portrait,how brilliantly he conveys a mixture of solitude, restraintment,a bit of irony in the eyes, intelligence certainly...

    And Lanegan's voice,oh it's really devine here...

  • @squarelogic Yes the artist who painted these was renown for painting these types of scenes in water color so they looked washed out drab and depressing. Even the bright areas seem lifeless as if drained by the constant grind of life.

  • @squarelogic If you look up the artist you will find he suffered from depression much like many of the most driven and outstanding artist. He was not a happy person and often abused his wife but his real problem was his own lack of self worth and feeling of alienation. It comes through in his art.

  • Yes,certainly,he beutifully depicts isolation in the modern world, then emerging...

    It is almost palpable...

  • @adiostraitorobama Life can do that. One of the many reasons I don't believe in the whole god loves us crap. It is amazing what you can survive. If it wasn't for my late mother I'd have been lost in the system long ago. I miss her so bad.

  • Even the piano is alone. It sounds almost like he's a worn out piano bar singer playing after hours when everyone else is gone so he can put off going home alone a little longer. The alcohol and tobacco making his voice just that much sadder.

  • Gracias, es una verdadera inspiración!!!!!

  • Beautiful!

  • this song is beautiful

  • Very heart moving....

  • beautiful and heartbreaking.

  • I also prefer this version it speaks of loneliness and hurt in a soulful way. If you have no one (having) no one can hurt you.

  • Well I prefer this version. And the pictures work beautifully.

  • dear2world

You are the 2nd to prefer the Palace bros version.I have heard it but much prefer this one.

Preferences are personal, but the main thing is that we share our affections for the song and the video. Thanks for the comment!

  • Pretty cool! I would like it even more if you've put the Palace brothers version against Hopper. I like it better :D

  • Wonderful!!!!
