If we were there and there and no U.S soldier was killed, then by all means lets get out. But when the first soldier is killed there, we have the moral obligation to stay and finish the job so that his life was not wasted. We owe them justice for their death. If you say you support the troops and not their mission how is that helping? If you don't support the mission our troops are fighting and dying to complete you can't support those troops. In modern war there are always objectors who have that right because of those brave troops who go where ever they are needed in the world to protect US interests no matter what they are. I can understand the frustration the troops are having.The Feeling that what they have done so far will be in vain, but lets not lose sight of the fact that they were sent to Iraq on the believe Saddam had WMD. The reality was this was proven to be false. The Bush Govt then changed the goal post to creating a free Iraq as a an agenda. If we were there and there and no U.S soldier was killed, then by all means lets get out. But when the first soldier is killed there, we have the moral obligation to stay and finish the job so that his life was not wasted. We owe them justice for their death. Don't get me wrong, i want to get out of that godforsaken land just as much as anyone in here. But doing it now would mean they all died in vain. And that is not fair for them. Pure propaganda. The "reporter" who created this story obviously cherry-picked the "many" soldiers "who take personally" criticism of the war. Are they representative of the troops? Perhaps, but so might be the the great majority of Iraq War veterans who ran for Congress in 2006; nearly all anti-war. So is Sen James Webb, who has a son fighting over there now. And Webb, like me, is a Vietnam vet.
No one "supports" the troops more than I do, but generally they don't know much about politics.

That's a terrible reason to continue a war. What do you mean by "finish?" Do you mean install an effective democracy, that can operate on it's own? That might take the next century, with all the "progress" we've made.
The GOP has done a lot to support the mission, and very little to support the troops these past few years. Whether troops died or not, has no bearing on whether the mission makes any sense or not. It was ALWAYS a terrible decision.
