I do think that Carrie is a better writer than Taylor yet I don't think the two of them are comparable. Taylor is barely out of her teens and Carrie is going on 30. Carrie is an adult, Taylor is not.
Yes, Taylor's songs are all about high school drama and Carrie's songs cover a wider variety of issues, yet you have to think that Taylor was a teenager when her first and second album came out and so the songs she wrote dealt with teenage issues. I am not particularly crazy about Taylor's music yet I think that's it's pretty impressive that at such an early young age (I think she was 15 when her first album came out) she was able to write all of her own songs.

Carrie isn't known much outside the US except for her many fans from Idol because she's a country singer which isn't appreciated much overseas - Taylor's label markets her as a POP artist that's why Taylor and Kelly are known more internationally - they are POP, Carrie isn't, she's country
I don't think Carrie being a country singer is the reason why people don't know her overseas. There are a lot of people outside the States who love country (I do). Furthermore, there have been country singers who have sold well worldwide. I'm sure Cowboy Casanova' would be a hit in my country. Carrie isn't known overseas because they don't promote her. It's a shame, because her music is saleable. And I don't think she's THAT country. Like a lot of singers, she's pop-country.
I live in England and I think some of Carrie's crossover songs would so great over here..Shania Twain did excellently over here and some of Carrie's songs are in a similar style, all she'd have to do is sing amazingly and the rest would sell itself..they just don't bother to market her over here =|

Carrie refuses to remix her songs for POP - why do you think Taylor Swift is at the top? Because she remixed her songs for POP- Carrie believes remixing a song to another genre compromises the song - Taylor releases her songs to two genres POP and country that's why she's atop seller- she's definitely more popular in POP not so much in country - Carrie is a country singer and has had 11 straight #1 singles on country radio and is always at the top

Carrie isn't known much outside the US except for her many fans from Idol because she's a country singer which isn't appreciated much overseas - Taylor's label markets her as a POP artist that's why Taylor and Kelly are known more internationally - they are POP, Carrie isn't, she's country

I don't think Carrie being a country singer is the reason why people don't know her overseas. There are a lot of people outside the States who love country (I do). Furthermore, there have been country singers who have sold well worldwide. I'm sure Cowboy Casanova' would be a hit in my country. Carrie isn't known overseas because they don't promote her. It's a shame, because her music is saleable. And I don't think she's THAT country. Like a lot of singers, she's pop-country.

I live in England and I think some of Carrie's crossover songs would so great over here..Shania Twain did excellently over here and some of Carrie's songs are in a similar style, all she'd have to do is sing amazingly and the rest would sell itself..they just don't bother to market her over here =|

It's been years and Carrie has still proven herself in every single song that she sung. I do admit that Taylor is talented in creating songs and has a pretty voice, but there's not much vocal power or strength. She may be popular now, but what happens when she grows older and her "pretty voice" doesn't fit songs anymore? Love her, but just saying..

Carrie will have longevity in the music industry but my bet would be that Taylor won't. So what if Taylor is shoved down your throat 3 million times a day? It's all gonna go away one day. The big thing about her is being 19 and being able to write "pretty" songs about boys and high school. Once she becomes older, she'll just be another artist who can't sing for shit.

She is the number one search on all of yahoo today. how is she fading away exactly? A lot of people know about taylor because she is promoting herself to pop music, carrie is not as much. Taylor is dating taylor from twilight, which seems like a huge pr stunt.
just because Carrie chooses keep her private life relatively private doesn't mean she is fading away. its her decision. and us mag and people talk about carrie and her bf mike all the time.

I love Carrie Underwood but I have to agree with you on that one. Taylor is the one with international renown (and Kelly, of course) whereas very few people know about Carrie outside the States. I am from Spain and people here do know about Taylor but they have never hear or Carrie.
