  • Rush Theather!

  • Okay, so i made an executive decision: the producers will go back in and remix every DT album and finally make JM the loudest track :)

  • Wow, this was like pure Rush here! lol

  • This song is so electrifying and cool!!!!! :D

  • pure Maiden worship

  • wow you never hear myung like this amazing the can sing there's nothing wrong with his voice it's because he had never sung before but if you watch the documentry on score it explains it all

  • perfect bass!

  • The songs during the Majesty period don't get me much... They're very good, just not my type of music. (Ytse Jam rocks, though)

This is a very good song, it wasn't bad at all on Score.

  • Niice instrumental... this song is MAJESTY. I can try singing to this one too :P

  • best

  • cool! that's history, man!

  • Reminds me a lot of Rush in a way, but more faster.

  • Myung's bass sound is amazing!!

  • yeah, he really rocked back then (he still rocks now, but alas, he has tuned down because he wanted to serve the band...)... darn shame says I

  • Well thats what the bass should do, tune down its volume until a section that requires a bass protagonism appears, and thats were the bass do its work.

  • Wow! You can actually HEAR John Myung's bass!

  • jajajajaja

    and it sounds awsome

  • This is what Iron Maiden would sound like on acid..

  • Hey, now Avenged Sevenfold doesn't suck. They're just not even a quarter as good as Dream Theater and never will be. :P

  • Pretty much

  • It's funny that that really doesn't say much. Who IS a quarter as good as Dream Theater? =P

  • The fact that Ruddess went to Julliard at the age of 9, and that Petrucci, Myung, and Portnoy went to Berklee and practiced their asses off really says something. As for James LaBrie, he's just a damn amazing singer.

I just saw Dream Theater last night. Rudess and Petrucci ended up playing solos in other music genres(which was amazing).

There was really so much going on. It's something you should all see. The other bands were nice and Zappa Plays Zappa was especially amazing.

  • This is totally like Rush, even Myung's bass tone sounds just like Geddy's. I wish his bass was as prominent now as it was back then.

  • avenged sevenfold sucks a big nut. FOR F*CKS SAKE PLAY IN A KEY OTHER THAN D MINOR!!!!

  • I love the lyrics to this song, a huge shame theres no singer on this record! Try the Score version, just beautifully sung by James, the lyrics are so great and poetic, makes me cry evertime...

  • avenged sevenfold was influenced by dream theater :/

  • so? they still suck

  • HAHA awesome comment cronology!

  • Love the chorused guitar. And Myung rocks!

  • oh my god i get goosebumps and almost start to cry when i listen to this.

  • brutal, just brutal

  • I agree with Azloah

"Thats how basslines should always be! Equal with everything else."

  • we are all agree. one thing i don't understand is why myung accepts that now he is not as important as other member of the band. in the WDAD Reunite DVD audio commentary, when Mike says ``in those times bass was like a lead guitar´´ and JM didn't say anything (as always). i don't think that the rest of the band ignores his compositons, i just think that JM has changed his mind about what is the bass in a band. and when i think about it i feel so sad....

  • I know, in WDADU Myung has a wealth of bass solos and loud, powerful, parts, but nowadays he is hardly even heard. Its almost like he's too shy for the spotlight, even with his vast potential. He shouldn't just be doubling Petrucci's riffs.

  • He's as important as he was then, now he is more rythm which is the bassist his duty, back then he was way more melodic (which is really cool) But without him it still is empty and i probably won't like DT without him, but guitar is way more up front because mindless musicians only hear guitar.... And think that that is the most important instrument (actually it's the least important instrument in a band)

  • oohh come on, what's with the "actually it's the least important instrument in a band" thing? there are no "more important instruments" in a band. Maybe in a song.. But try to take guitars out a band. It'll suck

  • Liquid Trio Experiment is cool. Why? Because without the drum and bass you fucked up guitarheads won't have anything to play to just a fucked up hell lot of noise you are making and 80% of all guitarplayers (especially death metal) don't know wtf they're doing. The other point is rehearsels: Every time you're discussing, this guitar fag plays his fucked up riffs so no one can hear eachother and everyone has to get cranky and mad at eachother just like the other times the guitarist was present.

  • Oooohh Shut up. that's a tone of bullshit. Is not my fault if all the guitarists you know are shit or total dickheads. Stays the fact that "actually it's the least important instrument in a band" was total bullshit. A band is made by its complexity. Taking out something makes it shitty. And for the death metal thing, it depends on every single player.

  • Oh, btw, what do you play? drums or bass?

  • Well it´s quite difficult to talk to someone who doesn´t answer to my comment, but just making the same statement as before. You actually make me think of one of those guitarplayers, seeing himself better and more worth then the other instruments in the band, THAT's the reason why i dislike the guitar. Yes i play bass.

  • How can i answer to that? you just stated your opinion about guitar players. And i said that you probably know gay guitarists if you consider them all like that. And -->( A band is made by its complexity. Taking out something makes it shitty) should explain you that (seeing himself better and more worth then the other instruments in the band) this is not true. cheers

  • I don´t play drums, i play bass and guitar. as i already said, liquid trio experiment, no guitars at all, it ain´t shitty at all.

  • He said a band becomes shitty if you take an instrument out of it, he didn't say it's shitty if it doesn't have a guitar player when it's founded. I guess you just refuse to understand what people tell you, he said that all the instruments and players in a band are important, and that you probably heard shitty guitar players if you think the way you do. Well what can I say, just don't call guitarists ignorant bastards if you keep ignoring other people's opinions...

  • Then you might watch your mouth for 1: I never said ignorant, i said arrogant. 2: Fuck off i wasn't talking to you. 3: Why are you even in this discussion? Because you have no fucking live you just scroll around old youtube pages to irritate people?

  • "Ignorant bastards" was the summarize of the whole description you wrote about guitarists in general.

And this argument really makes me laugh, I just love the people who say I have no life because you just know you come here every 2 minutes to see if you convinced anyone, and you for sure know you're trying to irritate BY FAR more than me when you say a half world and his mother suck because of their instrument, and you say it behind a YT random username.

  • hehe, well the funny part is that you actually just turn things around because: I get an email to replys on my posts, i only come back to this place just to listen to this song or reply someone back. YOU on the other hand, searched a 2nd page to see if you can be irritating by entering a 1 on 1 discussion.

Oh btw quote to "he didn't say it's shitty if it doesn't have a guitar player when it's founded" LTE was founded with guitar, but that album was without guitar.

    Now i'm done.

  • I came here to watch the video just like you, but then I saw weird comments about that "one on one" argument and I was interested to know what it is about. And what can I do, I like and appreciate each one of DT's members. So if you don't like an instrument, or anything else, coming to the people who do and saying it won't help you. Go to Liquid videos and post there, why do you have to keep saying guitarists suck in a video of a band that was founded by 4 people including a guitarist?

  • It isn't shitty but it isn't exciting. There's like one good riff on L3E.

    And 0 emotionzzzzzzzzz

  • ah that´s true ^^ It really is for the patient and pink floyd level but even beyond. Sounds alot like Dave Weckl you know, also strange music.

  • @Sproeikoei

    You're a fucking idiot

  • He's pretty much been replaced by Jordan Rudess.

Although I love his bass lines on Octavarium

  • @Carlos7492 dude... you don't know how important a bass guitar in a band is... together with the drums, they make a background... no background, no BALLS!!! what is metal without bass?

  • this cam e on the lifting shadows cd i love it

  • I wish they would make a studio recording of this! amazing

  • this song does´t need any vocals!!!! this is the best of DREAM THEATER

  • It has Vocals on Score.

  • there was another version of Another Won with Chris Collins singing on it...I wonder what happened to that video I loved it!

if anyone knows where I can watch it please lemme know

  • Thats how basslines should always be! Equal with everything else.

  • Rush on steroids!!! Dream Theater doesn't jam quite like that any more. And I'm not saying this is better, just a little different.

  • Where is the vocal?

There is supposed to be a vocal in this song...

  • This is before they had a singer

  • No i have another version of Another Won with Charles Dominitchi on the vokal...

  • When he came in he would have added the vocals but this particular performance is before they had Dominici in the band. They wrote the song without any vocals first

  • myung needs to sound loud again

  • This was so influenced by Rush. It's awesome.

  • yeh it sounds soo very much like it :) ;)

  • Myung is soooooo loud!!!!

  • yes!!!! isn't that great????

also, the bass lines were treated as another melody line (not as harmony in the background as it's nowdays :(

Actually i think i like more the majesty demos than WDADU

  • Rythm ;) Myung isn't a very rythmic bassist in his first years, at FII he got more into it :)

  • he has still rhythmic problems today. and i say this as a fan mostly inspirationed by him.

  • could you give some examples of that? i'm just curious that's all.

    Thanks!

  • hm. watching the budokan dvd would be the best. there's a feature where you can listen to ONLY MYUNG or watch him playing to be exact. search for it on youtube.

  • This is a Beautiful song!

  • Cool that you put this up! GREAT MAN im pretty sure I havnt heard this one! Its so mystical so beatufiful full of life and joy!! GREAT! They are AWESOME! I might have heard some of it if they played some of it before a concert in Sthlm hmmm... 2005 or something... but great song, atleast I like the tones and stuff alot on... alot of it! AWESOME!!!

  • you gotta get this cd on internet... ihave searched everywhere to get this can't get hold of it... ARGH

  • They perform it on Score. It's done really well. Plus, I don't think this version has keyboards. The Score version has lyrics as well, and James sings it very well.

  • thanks man, i haven't got a copy of score yet, i ordered it off amazon yesterday

  • this is great man, thanks so much!

  • thank you for watching ;)

PS: we need more views!!! can you help me?

  • thank you!! i thing i am

    thanks for watching

  • hahaha ure a good fan n.n
