Small MDs and Pediatricians listen to what the various medical associations and those associations listen to what the researchers tell them. So ultimately this is a huge conflict of interest because the average person will find anything healthy and or beneficial and ignore side effects precisely because they are getting paid hand over fist by the research funders which are the Pharmaceautical companys. All studies should be independant.
This is poor reporting. Yes there are people with conflicts of interest. But there are another thousand pediatricians and research scientists who don't take money from Merck who would also tell you that vaccines are safe and effective. Did they take the time to speak with any of them?
I have never worked for a pharmaceutical company or anyone else in the vaccine industry. But the fact that Offitt takes Merck money doesn't make the science wrong. This is CBS at its worst.
