normally when people refer to drifting they mean that all four wheels have lost traction at least at some point, and the front wheel counter-steer is done in order to regain traction in those wheels. Maybe you're trying to say that the best way to drift is to produce drive from only the rear wheels, but i'm not sure.

Also, the sol purpose of the drift rings on a go kart is to teach a person the concept of drifting. I.E. counter steer and throttle and break management. There is no OTHER way to drift a 5hp go kart the way this thing does without rings. Tires alone get to much grib and the kart moves way to fast is is to dangerous. The scale speed of the kart with the rings almost matches a full size car making it more impressing to watch versus a squirely go kart trying to drift.

The original point of drifting was to compensate for low traction surfaces and rapid direction changes, i.e. rally racing. Having used pvc tires for RC cars, I can't imagine that your drift rings will teach you all that much about throttle and brake management. Counter-steering maybe, even throttle control is a stretch, but with relatively no traction, brake management is hardly a skill needed for "true drifting".

If you want another method for "true drifting" just get the hardest slicks (non-pvc) in the rear, and do your best to shift your weight as far forward and to the opposite side of your turn. It's a concept similar to the one used when skidding a fixed gear bike

Alls I can say. When you see a fullsize car DRIFT with only it's rear wheels it looks puney and lame.

When drift car is drifitng at 50-100mph the front wheels DO slide aswell even as they are counter turned. It doesn't look like much but indeed they are sliding.

When a car only slides it's rear it is NOT as much fun and does not look as impressing as a car drifiting with inertia and weight + power. Not just power and rear wheels.

Guys this is for pure fun drifting. You can't drift a cheap 5hp go kart any other way that is this safe and can actually stay sideways for quite a while. This has the potential to be a good sport and competition because it takes just as much skill do drift good as it would to race good. I am not saying I am "good" at drifting in this video. I only had about 5 hours on these drift rings when I made the video. With more practice I got better, and that led to better more realistic drifts.

They are pretty cheap to drive also,,, It's about 1000 dollars per year, if you just do it for fun. It's very cheap compared with others 125 cc, like the class I'm driving the ICA Junior/kf3 is about 3000 dollars per year, and 20-40k dollars if wan't to be top 5 in a raceseason
