There are a few reasons why they are so expensive. Firstly, the mutation from the Crystal Black / Black Bee shrimp (Caridina cantonensis) is incredibly rare, and the rarity of the strain must be appreciated. The shrimp are also very inbred, so they are very delicate and require specific water conditions in order to survive, let alone reproduce. Anyone who has kept higher grade Crystal Red / Red Bee shrimp will understand how difficult they can be to keep.

Yes I'm a HUGE PETA fan, and PETA does puts millions of animals to sleep, BUT, by giving them a pain-free death not only isn't PETA doing something bad, but it's actually doing them a favor. PETA at first tries to find unwanted animals good homes. Then at the last stage mercy killing. So you want all those animals free in streets!? No one wants those poor things to be dead but there's sometimes no other choice.

In fact PETA has thousands of shelters around the world which tries to find new homes for unwanted animals trough these shelters putting them over there. They sometimes wait for months for animals to find new loving families but sometimes even after months no one comes to adopt em. ONLY in this case the animal will be put to sleep humanely .
