  • that is not the band playing the weight its a band called smith

  • I have seen the picture... meraviglioso mi ricorda l'essere liberi (to be free).....con la moto ....

  • Thx XP. 3 song super set right at my fingertips.....

  • How about if everyone in America quit their jobs and go on the road.

  • the west in the 60's was a hitchhikers paradise. San Jose to Santa Cruz often had dozens of people in line with t heir thumbs out. We lined up and waited our turn. Usually someone stopped every 5-10 minutes. San Fran to LA was a long fun thumb down the coast. Backpack and a sleeping bad trip......

  • On the soundtrack ABC used Smith for The Weight, cause they were to cheap to pay us royalties for The BAnd's Version

  • this is norther arizona. it still looks the same as it has for the last 10,00 years (before 4:35). you can still hitchhike. this part of the country never changes ans i bet that is why they filmed the video there.

  • one thing about USA youve got the roads and scenery for bike riding i envy you, england has beutiful scenery , but the roads are crap ,stop and start every 50 yards, thats when we get the wheather

  • this movie trouble my life hahaha, and make me better also

  • This makes me glad I ride a Milwaukee machine Downunder... There`s nothing like riding with the wind glad I have what I have... my mates, freedom, peace, love ... life is to live and make it real and happening.

  • RIP dennis. this tokes 4 u.

  • @herbalenquiry right-on. when I heard the news about Dennis's last day on this worldly stage...my first thought was his character in this movie...that's how I wish to remember him....free...mobile...smiling.

...although he made the best neurotic war correspondent/photo-journalist ever to belong in a war zone.

I am trying to think of a more perverted twisted freak than the one and only Frank Booth.

Dennis will be missed. Ride Free or Die.

  • I'm going home.good bye.MSJR

  • i was 15 when i saw this movie at the theater and the end blew me away and had a profound affect on my life.

  • God I love that shot at 0:39 seconds. Just wish it was me !! PEACE.....

    FUNDAMENTAL-FLIMS.

  • freedom icone!

  • reminds me of south dakota while i was riding my old shovelhead all across the countryside with good friends good times.. this is what life is all about..

  • Alright...right after they leave New Orleans there is a song (or just an instrumental) as the are riding their bikes .......it is before they rest up for what happens to be their last night when Wyatt explains how they "blew it"...it is the music before "It is alright Ma". What is it?

  • @backwardk I think the song you are talking about is called "Flash,Bam,Pow" which is an instrumental by the Electric Flag. If i'm wrong, sorry for leading you astray

  • if there is a heaven to me this is it

  • The Byrds - Wasn't Born to Follow = first song

Great movie! I hate to tell you, but, riding hard-tail choppers across the USA is FAR harder than it seems in this movie!!! LOL

  • Easy Rider was produced, directed and starred Dennis Hopper. He even spent a lot of his own money to get the filming done.Easy Rider is Dennis Hopper's baby

  • Poor Dennis. He is on his deathbed, with his family fighting over his money! He was the sole survivor of the movie Rebel Without a Cause. He's lucky he's lived so long, having done some crazy things. But I loved his comeback in Hoosiers, and all the movies he's done since then (altho he was always the bad guy). My prayers are with you Dennis!

  • @ottvalley actually it was produced by peter fonda

  • Comment removed

  • does anyone know who did the version of "when the saints go marching in", in easy rider?

  • its just a street band in New Orleans .

  • thanks for posting, i was looking for that first song. this movie is so great, and i wish i could cruise the open highways while these classic tunes were playing. sounds like a good time.

    peace friends.

  • wonderful ... life´s good life´s free

  • Saw this movie when I was about 17 years old. Didn't understand a lot of what was going on at that time. I did feel like running a pick up truck full of red necks of the road however! Ride to Live Live to Ride!

  • That looks so fun

Just gliding down the open road in the middle of the country... classic songs playing

    I love this movie :D

  • Looks can be decieving, kid. You ever ride a hardtail?

  • Kid? You think calling him & using the term 'kid' would give you an air or sound of authority don't you? I'd bet you've never had your fat ass on anything more than a bicycle...kid.

  • That's a lotta venom over a single word...kid lol

  • Glad u knew I was joking ;)

  • No sweat ki...er ah, person I may have inadvertantly presumed to be younger than myself. lol. 1964 eh? Not so much younger than me.Puff puff pass, kiddo : )

  • Rrrooooooooooooooollll another one, just like the other one :)

  • yah.. we have better land in America, but u britts have a waaaay better government

  • @pbdude725 Sorry only just read this but if you knew at the time............The Labour government has ruined Britaion in every way. They have made it into a nanny state and I know for a fact taht even this message will be logged on file with them!

  • it's all northern arizona.

  • medical cannabis saved my life my depression is controled now, i just ripped a little bowl, and these tunes, and i feel like just smelling the flowers PEACE PEOPLE

  • i think im searching the wrong name of the song, but what's the name of the second song?

  • the name of the second sog is The Weight, by The Band

  • okay thanks

  • 1:04 the most memorable shot in the film and perhaps of a generation.

  • all we represent to them man, is someone who needs a haircut .. but all we represent is freedom man

  • Comment removed

  • Ahhh 1969!! America before strip malls, Clearchannel, and pendejos like screech519. RIP.

  • did they film any of these seens in new mexico cuz alot of the seens look like home to me

  • AZ & NM , after they pick up the guy hitching he takes them to a hippy commune near Toas NM.(in the full film )

  • motoxbuddy hey thanks man i'm in Santa Fe, and i think i'll take ride out that way, oh and hippy commune might be the RAINBOWS man, think i'll score a stash from um cuz they got good smoke PEACE

  • amen

  • good lord this is great!!!

  • Would have preferred 'It's alright Ma' from Bob himself

  • Hey - this song is beautiful in this scene - but anybody remember how they used it a 2nd time in the "Skinny Dipping" part later? It was even more heart-felt there... especially at the end of of the scene itself - where it shows Wyatt (Peter Fonda) just staring at, and gently holding a grain from a stalk of wheat ...as it was blowing in the wind. Very touching.

  • Good old Captain America!

  • In the end scene the bikes have no license plate...

  • You got too much time on your hands Fili. Just enjoy the music and take it "Easy"..ya' know? :)

  • Amazing lyrics...

The hollow horn plays wasted words

    Proves to warn

That he not busy being born

    Is busy dying.

  • Them riding along to the weight in my opinion is one the best scenes ever made.

  • This movie is about living the American Dream, except it doesn'y really exist as they find out in the end...

  • I was riding west on highway 80 i think it is in Arizona and I stopped at this gas station to fill up that looked exactly like one in a scene from this movie. Its the scene where "Porky Pig" fills up the bike and Dennis is scared that he will see the money.

  • it is in arizona...they started in flagstaff and continued north towards monument valley. i know which gas station you talking about. it is on rt 89. I dont think it is exactly the one, but maybe...not sure about that part...

  • This one I was at was before Reno I believe heading west.

  • The film gives a great view of America.

  • Northern AZ. In the first scene here, they really do look like they're going 25mph, as was disclosed in the documentary.

  • I saw the movie, and I know the ending. Thanks for not putting in the ending. The music and the riding scenes are so cool!

  • Dennis Hopper.

  • great visuals-very cool choppers-classic tunes

  • thanks what an amazing movie and video..

  • I WIHS I WAS THERE

  • When you're doin' a slow turn on a chopper, you have to use a combination of clutch, throttle and brake to avoid puttin' your feet down- it looks cooler- that said Fonda is still cool !

  • i bet those really were the days. a man could just set out on the open road into the wild, hitchikers were seemed friendly, no cops to worry about, man i wish i lived in those years. By far one of my favorite films. easy ridin' is the way to live.

  • Whats this movie about???

  • FREEDOM!

  • Those days were very cool and I still ride a Harley 40 years after seeing this film.

Though I no longer ride an old Panhead, I still ride a Springer Softail.

  • yeah, make an iternational drug deal (a capitol offense), sell it to sheltered Hollywood producer types, take the bread and head out for Mardi Gras. yeah, I've done that. lol

  • Have you seen the movie? Because then you must know that's not the case, the movie shows the tensions that existed in the US during this time and how they get harassed by cops and rednecks. Anyways, a great movie with beautiful scenery :)

  • @scubaumpire88 I lived in "The Days" imagine how depressing to live in these days

  • @scubaumpire88 then go and do it and dont waste your life on youtube. duh

  • @scubaumpire88

Well, except that one character died when he was hacked with a machete, and the two main characters were shot to death. It really wasn't all that safe even then.

  • @scubaumpire88 dude have you seen the end of the film?...i mean yes, i wish i could be there too, but man, some people were pretty messed up those days(yes i mean those rednecks)

  • @scubaumpire88 Wish that were so. Remember the defining moment of the film: "We blew it."

  • This was the best movie i love it its my favourite one

  • those were the days man

  • This is the movie ever. It has the best intro i've ever seen in a movie. The songs, the actors everything. Sex, Love n Rock n Roll

  • nicely put together clip for a very cool movie ty.

Xifo: If 6 was 9 wasnt in this clip?

    well done val

  • thanks for uploading. This makes me dream - though I'm just 26 and not from the USA I admire the myth of that time wich is due to films and other culture like that.

  • The Band "The Weight"

  • It's funny that the song The Weight in this movie was the original by The Band. When they put out the Easy Rider album, it was the Smith's singing it. WTF?

  • name of 2 song?Please somebody...?

  • You mean "Take a Load Off Benny".

  • The first song from the movie was The Pusher. Born to be Wild was the second song, both from Steppenwolf. This movie did have alot of great songs in it!

  • @edgarjans the weight by the band

  • I love the songs! I love the Sun! I love the Road! ...AND I hate what mr.Bush did with America!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • im no bush supporter. but, dont you realize that your elected representatives and senators are who fucks this country. the president is a mere figurehead. and you my friend, are a dickhead. get educated.

  • so true :>

  • Bush waited til Congress adjourned to push his bills thru. He wasn't a figurehead, but found a way to get by the Congress. If Obama did this, they'd be all over him. With Bush, he had such secrets going on that we still don't know about. How did he get away with this? Bush was a name & Cheney was running everything! Cheney is one scary dude! If we had his kind of healthcare, he's had another heart attack, we'd all be covered. That's what Ted Kennedy wanted. The same healthcare plan for all.

  • Good points, thanks, keaster55.

Yes, Ted Kennedy had a heart, he helped many people throughout his life.

Yes, we should all be able to recieve the same quality of health care as Dick Cheney, and congress.

  • Thanks for posting!!!...It brings much joy to watch this stuff...great, deep movie. Pat

  • just a window to lost freedom, in anyone's personal acception

  • Fonda on a honda......Hopper on a chopper......Byrds....far out.

  • Nice Nice

  • Thank you for the vidoe, and for the songs..

  • Hippies were a great generation, this is the sound of freedom.

    Thanks

  • wait a minute chester

  • Saw this movie four or five times in cinema.

Great. Then two or three times in TV with advertising breaks. You cannot see this on TV.

It's one of the best movies ever.

  • I have a question....(I will try to phrase the question correctly)...In the movie there is a song, actually all that is heard is the instruments...it is played right before the song It's alright ma (in the actual movie). What is it? If I have to pull out the DVD and find the exact scene I will.

  • Is one of the lyrics "And if all the hpiies cut off all their hair. I don't care. I don't care."?

  • No, as I recall there is no words at all, perhaps and intro to a song, or maybe that is all there is to it(instrumental only)...I will pull out the DVD and try and get when it they play that song. I will get the exact scene and maybe the exact time. Thanks for the reply.

  • I'm going to watch it now and will get back to you as I am also curious

  • This is "If Six Was Nine" by Jimi Hendrix

  • Whenever I ride my Harley I imagine I have a pound of smack in my gas tank. Seems to make it all more real.

  • great film

  • Does anybody know which album this version of "It´s allright ma" by Bob Dylan is off? Great movie and music!

  • This one is not sung by Bob Dylan but by Roger McGuinn, just download the easy rider soundtrack;)

  • This video has often been reviled by more conservative Americans, but I think it's an American classic. Anyone who sees it would want to go explore the South West USA.

John Wayne hated this movie. But then again, he at the end of his career and his Western were becoming dated.

  • should have added ending

  • Lazlo Kovaks did a superb job filming this.

  • it is actually the band's version of "the weight" in the movie. smith only did the version on the soundtrack because of copywright/publishing issues i guess.

  • asshole

  • "I stand on a hill, not for a thrill...but for the heat of the laundro-mat vent." -the colonel 'Slingblade'

  • what your problem superjett seriously and fuck you with your bush ....bush suck......you are exploited by him.....stupid guy who love Bush agaahaha

  • fuck you

  • fuck who? you talkin' to me? are you talkin' to me? you talkin' to me?

  • "I didn't vote for him, but he's my president and I hope he does a good job." - John Wayne on John Kennedy

I didn't vote for Bush, and he's done just the job I expected from him.

  • Actually gj I propose that we stop this bickering...in honor of the message of 'Easy Rider' which is freedom and being whoever you want to be, I apologize and take back all the stupid shit I've said, okay??

  • good thought superman, couldnt agree more :D

  • "he who is not busy being born, is busy dying"

I think that lyric was written just for you superjet

  • dont see this video if you dont like, go and fuck arround but dont fuck a original masterpiece like this

    fuck everyone who says fuck

fuck fuck fuck ... es la palabra mas pelotuda que inventaron estos yankis tragaleches

  • ...by the way...anybody wanna play dodge ball?? I AM PSYCHED!!!

  • Not to worry Bert, I'm really a pretty laid back guy...in fact, I'm the kind of guy who can laugh at a funeral...especially if it's one for a liberal or a hippy:)

P.S.- George W. Bush is my lord and saviour

  • One reason to be a 'Hippy' was just to be a coward and dodge the war in Vietnam. And hey, does anybody remember Charles Manson and his beautiful 'Family' of hippies?? They were really nice and peaceful weren't they? Yeah, that was sooo beautiful how they broke into those peoples' homes and beat and stabbed them to death wasn't it?? The one positive outcome of the Manson Family Murders was the true Death of the Hippy;)

  • fck off noobie, do the world a favor and kill yourself you stereotypical bastard

  • what your problem superjett64 fuck you man why you look at that if you don't like that

  • EASY RIDER is one of my favorite movies and I can't count the times I've watched it, and it is NOT about hippies, the only 'hippies' in the film are those dirty faced, filthy fuckin losers at that commune who can barely even feed themselves. Wyatt/Peter Fonda & Billy/Dennis Hopper are capitalists, which is the exact opposite of a hippy, dealing drugs for MONEY to finance their own easy riding lives. So Fuck You JFguitar22.

  • superjett....breath in and exhale. Open your eyes. Enjoy. Don't judge so harshly. Like life. Peace to you.

  • superjett64,you have so damn RIGHT!!!don't listen to that losers like JFguitar22,your the man!!!wyat and billy is'nt hippies there are social peoples how wants to live a damn LIFE!!!

  • of course they are not hippies, but the people that confuse them as hippies are most similar to you two narrow minded fucktards

  • You are the FUCKTARD you liberal coward bastard--NOW BEND OVER!! Long Live King George W. Bush and Me:)

  • lol coward? if i ever met you i'd whip your ass all over the place

  • If we were in prison together gj, you'd be MY BITCH!!! And you would simply LOVE EVERY MINUTE IT!! LOL!!

  • when she leaves him home alone, gjdaniel wears his mother's robe & fuzzy slippers!!

  • wow, great comeback...you are brilliant

  • Hippies were a beautiful generation!!

  • Great!

  • RIGHT!!!

  • the sound of freedom!!!

  • Wasn't Born to Follow - The Byrds

The Weight - Smith (It's not The Band.)

It's Alright Ma - Roger McGuinn

  • ....tra le sequenze piu'spensierate e forse allo stesso piu' malinconiche...

  • the weight is an awsome song....southern rock is AWSOME

  • greatest soundtrack ever

  • Better than pushing Biros up your nostrils maybe ;-)

    Better than this?

    Be serious.

  • just a opinion, and i'm not the only one who sayis it

  • OK: Easy Rider was iconic. It encapsulated the spirit of the times in an unprescedented way. It was aspirational & innumerable people sought to embed part of what the film conveyed into their own lives. Its soundtrack is suberb and the machinery magnificent.

Uma Thurman's cute - But so are a couple of less dressed birds in Easy Rider ;-) So, what's Pulp Fiction putting on the table by way of competition?

I bet you mostly drive a 4 wheeler! Go on, you can admit that Mr Wasp, can't you?

  • where did the thing with the 4 wheeler come from ?

  • I suppose the '4 wheeler thing' came from what you might regard as a biker mindset.

The inference intended was that you appear to believe a simplistic, unsupported assertion 'Pulp Fiction's better' proved you right when in fact what it indicated was you didn't seem attuned to / couldn't relate to the free spirit / hippy / motorcycle ethos of the film.

As you focused only on that to the exclusion of the opportunity to expound the objective merits of your postulate it kinda proves my point ;-)

  • it's nice talking to you :)

  • Hey Bud, exhale. Get a cold beer. Light up a smoke. Kick back. Listen. Enjoy. Forget your troubles for a moment. Be free in the moment.

    friend

  • That is what life is ALL about
