you need to protect your dog, he is a sweet heart and that bump into the wall could damage his brain and that can show up during his elderly age, don't put him into a crate but if you know he runs on his sleep then maybe put some pillows around and protect him. Like cover the wall where he sleeps and let him sleep next to that protected wall only. I would seriously pad the wall for him. I love my dog, they are my family to me.
