Karaliaučius or Königsberg aren't Russians and all of Prussia aren't land of Germany, Russia or Poland, because Prussia are free contry since 12-10 thousand years ago. Their brothers are Lithuania and sisters are Latvia (Balts). But Russians still holding our lands and we must set this beautiful country free and protect forever.

Nice film. I have become fascinated by this city recently. It's demise is one of the great untold stories of the 20th century.The city looks so beautiful, but I can't help but be drawn towards the people in this film, going about their everday business in the last few days of peace. How many of them would die in the air raids, evacuation/expulsion, fighting in the city or elsewhere in the war? And those who survive will need to move hundreds of miles from home. Tragic.They paid a high price.

That has something to do with genetics. You can play Mozart to a negro for years but he will still prefer the simple sound of djembe drums. It is just in his blood. It is the same with wealth. The Germans have lost most of their lands and have almost no resources (no oil, no gas, no rare earths...) but they are still able to produce extreme prosperity while the Russians have all the resources they want and the majority of them still lives under the poverty line.

Your comment is pointless...What are you trying to prove? Germany is responsible for two wars... which were lost. Your country paid the price which was not too big in my opinion... Poland did not start the war and even so was robbed form our lands (Breslau and Stettin for Wilno, Lwow and Grodno is a joke!). Our beautiful capital Warsaw was destroyed by Germans and you are saying that nazi Germany behaved like many other countries? The truth is that Russia won WWII and made decisions.

Alright guys, I strongly believe that Germany already paid her dues and that Russia proved her point. Besides, it's absurd and inhuman that the remnants of WWII and the Cold War are still unresolved. Thus, Germany should wholeheartedly begin friendly talks with Russia about the return of East Prussia so both Germans and Russians will finally be able to close this most horrible chapter in history, heal their emotional wounds, and work together towards real peace and mutual respect!

It was destroyed by british air raids, russians did the final blow. This city was the pearl of the east. Only a few picture still exist. communists wanted to wipe the memory out of the people's mind. Today it is a rat hole. So many peoples died there. like in the rest of prussia. I do not want to blame anyone, who is today alive. I respect russia. Stalin did not destroy Konig, Hilter and Germans did. If they would not start this fucking was this never would have heppened. Soviets were destroying Nazzis and they did won the war to save you and the rest from Hitler and learn from the past not to repeat this disaster again. Konigsberg was bombed and destroyed by british RAF (Royal Air Force). Russian army is not guilty. British destroyed Dresden and Konigsberg, two of the most beautiful city not only of Germany but of Europe.

@kerkeles1 Not entirely the Russians. Churchill used Koenigsberg as an early test target for long range bombing runs to attack civilian populations. Getting there didn require running the same flak risks. Those risks did major damage well before the Russians got there.

@Lordoftheart Every German general with the least bit of sense knew the war was lost by 1944. Rommel told Hitler too. Hitler went on with the war despite this and kicked out his good Generals and replaced them with yes men. The responsibility for continuing the war rested on Hitler's shoulders, and thus he should get the blame for everything that happened to Germany. The SS who commited almost all of the atrocities on the German side were given the green light by Hitler to commit them.
