Bjoerling actually sings it higher than anyone else - Adam composed it also for 'high tenor' but noone can do that nowadays. Perhaps Diego Florez. Gedda and Kraus could also. But my favorite is the wonderful legato of Caruso, he is gold and Bjoerling silver, Thill bronze, Di Stefano Copper and Lanza....?
