For the person who thinks no one would care if it were something other than an Eagle, I just wanted to say that we just replaced the bill of a duck that was missing a good portion of the top bill. And it wasn't even a wild duck, even though we are a wildlife facility. We adopted him as a project because he needed help and no one else in the area knew what to do with him. So it's not just eagles that are getting help.
What a great story! I am also watching the story of the eaglet from the Virginia Botanical Gardens that has a growth on it's beak. It too may have a sad ending but hopefully NOT! Keep up the good work, Thanks, Carol Porter
I am *SO* happy for Beauty right now! Thanks to everyone at Birds of Prey for their compassion and hard work! She looks so beautiful with her new beak :)
I would hate to hear that this beautiful bird was euthanized. Maybe if this bionic beak fails, another institution could step in or adopt her (zoo, science museum, etc.) I would hope all that would be considered.
the group that's taking care of her is Birds of Prey Northwest. a link is up there under "more info" (in the grey box, to the right of the video.) or just type their name with no spaces and remember that it's an org.
Beauty is amazing. this story is moving...and shows how humans can be either monsters or angels. we always have a choice.
Beauty is a beautiful, patient bird. She deserves a chance. No human would go thru what she did without loudly complaining. Kudos to those who are giving her a life.

Why will she have to be euthanized, after all this time, if the new beak doesn't work? What a heartbreaker that would be. :-( Can't she be saved?

Or have someone take care of her as a pet?

see my other comments on this page about checking this group's website -- the beak works.

They need to catch the person who shot the bird and shot his or her nose off.. Fair is fair.

very cool. as conscious beings it is our duty to help the animals especially when we cause them direct harm
