I'm always amazed that aftermarket companies think they know better than a car company that spent millions on research and development! A lot of cars are ruined because people don't know a thing about gasflow or why it is important to have certan diameters in different places, or why the exhaust needs to be hotter in some places. Hot exhaust gas flows faster. The volume difference in terms of gas between 55&60mm is minimal & gives no more power - possibly less than the factory exhaust. Try it!
@urbex2007 As ProjectRevoLutioN21 said, aftermarket exhausts do tend to result in more power and better overall performance in the case of the Mini as well as other vehicles. In-fact you lose up to 30BHP with the standard Mini Cooper S factory exhaust system. The aftermarket companies who produce these products do a lot of research as well into the cars they plan to supply so keep that in mind, they have a business to run you know?
@urbex2007 you also have to keep in mind that car companies number one goal is making money, if they can do something in a cheaper manner they will. Aftermarket products are designed to improve performance, they have no care in xsaving the money they care about making the product, thus aftermarket units are usually built better and perform better
Is this made for a 2003 MINI Cooper S (R50)?... If so I'd love some info... Also saw a comment about no cat.. Isn't that required by emissions?... I know it is here in Colorado...
IMO the Sup Sprint is quieter, but has better sound quality under max throttle output. Also 11 whp more than JCCW.... wow thats a ton for just bolt on.
man I'd put as close to a 3" pipe on there with a single high flow cat back to a cherry bomb extreme muffler with a cut out about 4" after the cat >:)
The higher the diameter which lets "more airflow" doesn't always mean its a good thing. Its all about velocity and back pressure. But for a car like this it seems it could be a bit higher.
@supercooled This system installed is without the Resonator, we tried it with and it gave it a nice quiet street sound, but this customer wanted this sound and therefor did request non-resonated, he was tired of the Rasp of the Factory JCW System...
Very informative film, but I like the sound of the stock JCW system. The "snap" and "pops" of sharper and louder. In my opinion, that sound is what makes the JCW distinct. No doubt the Supersprint helps the engine perform better, but the sound it makes sounds like my stock R56S factory system.
sounds amazing! im very interested in this exhaust system on my 08 MCS. however, this is a JCW and the JCW engine is made in germany rather than the UK i believe. do you know if the exhaust would sound somewhat similar to the one in the video since the engines are different? i love how throaty the sound is and the "popcorn" sound the supersprint produces.
Not exactly, we upgraded this due to the fact that the Supersprint made 11whp and 14 wtq more than the factory JCW exhaust. If Supersprint can't make more power from an exhaust, they don't market it.
That's how the John Cooper Works Spoiler. If you look at the regular cooper S spoiler it's smaller and looks nice. The mini GP has a interesting spoiler. I have a GP spoiler on my 06 Cooper JCW.
I have a resonator delete on my JCW exhaust system. Straight pipe for more sound.. and I modded my jcw air box with the flapper always open so air is always flowing, instead of activating @ 4300 rpms. The super charget sounds a lot better if you go with that combo. I'm not sure if they have have the paper element on this cooper JCW. If they were to change the filter out to a high-flow instead of a paper element it would give you a better sound and a little boost in hp.
second system sounds better! great car, but wouldn't modifying the manifold and cat with the exhaust help? It is interesting to see such poor quality original parts supplied with the mini.
The special branch in the UK use those cars as they are very fast and fit through tight spaces! nothing beats them.
Is there any ways to get the blow off working without getting the power lag? Are there blow off out there that release just a little of air or the one that we can set it up if we want to let it release alot of air or not.
Great! I will have my Supersprint fitted. How long does it take?
And I have one question.
The HKS Blow off valve fitted on the cooper S. Is it good or not. I heard people saying the car is slower because they have to wait for the turbo. Because the Blow off. Blows all of the air out. They had to wait for the air to get going again. IS this normal? does this happens to their car only?
I want the blow off sounds. Should i get it? or not?
The fitting takes about 3-5 hours from start to finish.
As for the Blow Off Valve, the Cooper "S" has a Factory Recirculation/Blow off system that puts the released air back into the intake system and therefore helping to maintain and build boost faster. This is opposed to an Atmospheric Dump BOV that vents the pressure into the air in which case the turbo must build all of the pressure back up. This would cause a bit of power lag depending on the settings of the vehicle.
Thats crazy, they want all this money for JCW parts, yet they are actually really cheap. Obviously better off just doing it aftermarket with this superspring or some ofter aftermarket brand
Sorry I meant did u use the Supersprint centerpipe with the muffler or the test pipe style centerpipe
i have a euro spec mini and I was looking to run the entire turbo back 65mm exhaust.. just trying to get an idea how loud it would be catless and no center muffler
We used the factory Down-pipe, Supersprint front straight-pipe section and rear non-resonated section, and the Supersprint Muffler. The sound if you run no cat would be about 2 db louder than our sound-clips at the end of the video.
Love minis, but those colors look like a rotten tomato.
