  • @TOTLUNIALAYSHUN135 the painting is called 'impression: le soleil levant'

  • Where can I find a picture of that painting?! O: O:

  • 6:41 I like how after all that it ends rather humble.

  • Nerealu.

    Šiurpuliukai eina

  • I hit the skip button....

  • Ha ha ha. Foolish humans. It is not one's age that matters when listening to a piece such as this; it is clearly one's blood type.

Observe: Those with Type A blood who listen to Debussy are true sophisticates. Real non-conformists. Type A, I admire your unique and cultured tastes.

Those with Type O blood, however... well, you're nothing special for listening to Debussy. Sorry. You're just another sheep in the flock.

So there. I've solved the age debate. Now kneel and worship my insight.

  • @mixify1 You're like a conservatives answer to Hitler.

  • @mixify1 ...

  • It's sad to see a Breaking Dawn dvd advertisement here.....

  • youtube is my internet refuge

  • @thomasthomtithom and the comments are the shattering of that refuge

  • I, for one, don't give two shits about how old you are, and am solely here to listen to the music.

  • @orangebhuddy29 If you are here solely to listen to the music, why are you responding to comments?

  • @orangebhuddy29

    Haha!

  • Comment removed

  • @orangebhuddy29 100% agree

  • im 14 years old. and i hate that shit music the other kids in my age listaning to.. this is real music!

  • @officialrosha um....hun you are not the only one

  • @officialrosha '~' Well, dude... There's no doubt that this music is timeless and beautiful, but modern music does have some very nice things in it. Look around, look at all kinds of stuff. Maybe you'll like today's acoustic music. Or maybe some areas of pop rock. Maybe you'll really get into electronica or IDM. (In which case: watch?v=z56OiPR4r2s is a nice start) Maybe you'll like all of these things.

Just enjoy yourself, and your music.

  • @fromMouq i dont hate all the modern music.. i just hate dub step and screamo

  • why is a pop tarts advertisement polluting this video?

  • I can't explain what happens here.

  • Kidding :/

  • Well i'm 39 yrs old and i'd love to hear Skrillex dubstep this sh%$!

  • This music was made exactly 100 years before I was given birth ....mmmm...I mean before I was born

  • @SexxxyyDonJuan I see what you did there :D

  • I can't appeal to this, he's all over the place, the whole song I'm like 'where is he going?'

  • @LootableCorpse the important thing is not the destination, but the journey.

  • I'm not sure which I like better, the song or the Monet picture you used. :)

  • @Hittocere They are both breathtaking :)

  • stupid comment "top one"

  • I especially love 1:52... beautiful, melancholic and yet energetic! Sad but at the same time hopeful - so many feelings described by a simple tune - divine!

  • This is pretty cool, actually!

  • I'm a morola and i like this.

  • la petite mort (a French expression for 'I just eargasmed all oer this music).

  • What's the painting? Thanks.

  • @msaeki Monet's Impression, Sunrise, 1872. He used discordant colours (complementary colours of the same tonal value, in this case blue and orange) to make the sun seem as though it were really shining through the fog.

  • @msaeki the painting is from one of the best french impressionnist,, Monet..The name is Sunrise..

  • this is beautiful. for some reason i just especially love 3:14-3:18.... so so perfect.

  • I sat here with my nephew and he went to get a snack and ran back, he's two and I have hope for his generation.

  • This is impressionism.

  • @DesAbends Ahh, I see you have great taste. Post a video on youtube of a Claude Debussy song and pair it up with a masterpiece by Claude Monet. And thank you for putting Nocturne with Soleil Levant (Sunrise). Absolutely beautiful. Made me very happy. :)

  • I'm 2 and I don't care about the music because I'm 2 and am able to type words.

  • art is universal, who cares what age, race or creed you follow. take away the judgement, the metaphysics attached, look at it naked in the eye and experience it.

if you like it, you like it. if you don't, you don't.

  • Soothes the nerve oh soooo well.

  • I haven't been concieved yet.

    Checkmate.

  • This age-related comment thread is hilarious..! Made me laugh a lot (while listening to a gorgeous piece of music..) :)

  • I haven't been conceived yet and I'm attributing myself intelligence by submitting favourible attitude towards this work.

  • I'm a fetus and love classical music.

  • "Midnight in Paris" while listening to this song... it would be awesome

  • Love the two top comments xD And this song!! <3

  • @ Vivash03 show some respect. Kids that listen to this kind of music are rare as diamonds. I think it is you, that is in need of some attention?!

  • @Delphinus76 Hehe... Im 14

  • 'Evocative' is the best possible adjective to describe this piece.

  • Im still a fetus, but I hate this pop crap.I listen this, which means i'll be genius when I grow up!

  • Comment removed

  • People...no one cares about your age classical music is great but don't hate on pop music...in fact debussy isn't even classical he's romantic/impressionist...

  • lol @ramonwatkins25 I was going to type something similar.

  • I'm a fetus and I adore this music. I can't stand Lady Gaga. I'm going to buy a Debussy album once I'm born.

  • @ramonwatkins25 Excuse me, WTF DOES THAT MEAN

  • @marleyfan008 A fetus is what you get after the embryonic stage of pregnancy.

  • @ramonwatkins25 can you get internet connection inside the womb??

  • @hopelesscynic1 there was a laptop in here with me when i woke up. i heard mum say apple is god's gift to the world and i think she's right.

    ps. it has wifi.

  • @ramonwatkins25 what's the point of mentioning lady gaga ?

  • @anisometropie oh my you're not in a good mood, are you? bad sat night? i have this butterfly-in-stomach feeling that you're after a serious answer, so i guess i'll just...

    JUDA-JU-JU-JUDAS!!!! JUDA-JU-JU-JUDAS!!!!

    get a fucking life please.

love gaga she's ma bitch. also, love all those people who refer to this as "classical" music. bless. someone swapped your centuries around while you were in the bathroom shakin your ass to ke$ha.

  • @ramonwatkins25 Thank you , I laughed so bad you made my day.

  • @ramonwatkins25 what do you mean when you say someone swapped my centuries around ?

  • @anisometropie i'm pretty sure this is romantic period, not classical period. i'm just being a muso wanker. sozpop :) Debussy=life, so he aint even bovered about it.

  • @ramonwatkins25 i think classical music can refer to baroque, classical and romanticism in it's broader sense.

  • @jimcanfull you're right. i was not being broad.

  • @ramonwatkins25 That was a pretentious and stupid thing to say. Classical music lives in a plane of its own. It would hardly even make sense to compare classical music to jazz.

  • @zeppelin0110 what the hell are you talking about?

  • @ramonwatkins25 Maybe you need to sober up and then re-read it.

  • @zeppelin0110 i'm not sure what i did to deserve this but i'm glad i did it. it's hilarious! that's what's great about youtube, you run into all sorts. i don't recall mentioning jazz, but if i did, i apologise for offending you with such a dirty word :D have a GRRREAT DAY!

  • @ramonwatkins25 I didn't say classical music was superior to jazz or anything. It's just very different and I'm not sure if even that comparison would be a valid one.

These over-the-top, pretentious youtube comments are really getting old.

  • @zeppelin0110 well i'm sorry if you thought I was being pretentious. It's just that, this piece is not classical, not by the definition I was taught.

  • @ramonwatkins25 I think we're arguing over semantics here. I now see what you mean by 'classical' - it's not incorrect by any means, but it's also not used exclusively to denote only one specific era of music.

  • @zeppelin0110 i can't WAIT till you reply

  • @ramonwatkins25

I don't care to read all that jam below, I just want you to know this comment turned me into a beautiful rainbow.

  • classical music helps me to focus on school stuff better in order to get things done. I haven't listen to Debussy before, but now when I have I am hooked. It's so calming and beautiful!

  • This sounds so magical... <3

  • Does anyone else find impressionistic painting dull, or is that just me? All I see is a colorless painting juxtaposed with music that is soul-full and sincere.

  • 'I'm 2 years old and I love this music. I hate that ugly pop shit.' Seriously - no one cares, stop trying to get attention with how cultured you are.

  • @t3331157 I would just ignore them if I were you. Calling them out doesn't change anything and it lessens the purity of the music to look at a long list of bickering comments.

  • @pacificcerberus7777 you sir are a wise man

  • Lol is this the spamming page to let others know your age? Anyways awesome song.

  • I feel like...I feel like painting!

  • There are significant overlaps between this piece and Clair de lune.

  • who cares how old you are!.. just enjoy the music, i hate when theres comments like that... you can like what ever music at any age geez

  • @Vivash03

My thoughts exactly. This music is supposed to be ageless & timeless :o)

  • @Vivash03 lmao!! its about damn time..its ppl tryin for all these thumbs up.... "im 14 and like this music, is there something wrong with me?" haha to question why you like this music is stupid...there is something in these pieces of work that can connect us all

  • Comment removed

  • Debussy writes truly expressive music.

  • This is so beautiful :) <3

  • Debussy is one of my favourite composers ever!

  • I find this music beautiful too, but must we comment every five seconds about how shitty we think today's music is. Every generation complains about how shitty the music nowadays is. Our kids and their kids will probably follow suit. Shut the fuck up and listen.

  • such a beautiful song...it s like an astral rebirth!this music is really precious for my soul..

  • @erumdo2 this, my dear friend, is one of the many songs of the best composer who ever lived.

  • there is nothing like Debussy... it echoes somewhere...

  • I'm 3 years old and I love classical music.

  • I can hear some phrases of Rach 1 1st mov. Cadenza in this work. Yeah i know debussy came first :) but makes me happy to relate those parts

  • @erumdo2 Music, You will try 'Corn' and alike but One day come home.

  • Okay, could people please stop saying, "oh my gawd i'm a teenager and i think justin beiber is dumb and this is real music oh my god look at me i'm such a special snowflake lol!!" People of all ages can enjoy classical music. It's not such a big deal.

  • makes me forget how screwed up life can be

  • exquisite.

  • @erumdo2 this my friend is pure creation. music in it's purest form. please do give it a chance young one, you will soon notice that you are much more intelligent than your friends if you do, trust me. ;)

  • i am a linux user and what is this

  • I'm a one-week-old baby and I listen to Debussy! I must be very gifted, right? Back when I was a fetus, I used to like musical Impressionism and Symbolism already!!

  • @y7u7r7i Dedussy moved me when I was an embrio! ha ha. All the best o

  • is this nuages, fetes, or sirenes?

  • Comment removed

  • @GrizCC Neither... This is a different piece. Debussy's "Nocturne" is a solo piano work. His "Nocturnes" (With a 's') is the orchestral piece you're looking for. I know it's rather ambiguous...but it is what it is!

  • @fordronnal

    ty

  • Monet's "impression" , just beautiful...

  • Some part sound similar to Claire de Lune.

  • bellissimo

  • herp derp im part of the new generation and i like old music. every one thumbs up me because you think its unusual and cool

  • What painting is that?

  • @Sturrfry It's one of Monet's paintings called Impression, Sunrise. Some Art Historians say this is the first painting in which Impressionism emerged. It is however the painting which rise to the name of the Impressionist movement. He has a series of drafts of this same image - all with varying degrees of impressionism and varied color.

  • there is something very special in this piece of music ... i adore it :)

  • I haven't heard anything this beautiful in a long, long time.

  • I love how you've combined Debussy's music with Monet's paintings :)

  • I am 16... Trying to compose like this - in an impressionistic style at least.... any tips?

  • @Sheeeeepies1 learn as many pieces by him as you can, you will start recognizing patterns in his composition and be able to use them freely in your own personal style. If that's a bridge too far for you, then I suggest just listening to his music attentively as much as you can. Listening alone can make your fingers know things that were forever secret to your brain.

  • @frukfup well, the conscious part of it at least

  • @frukfup I have been doing that, and we are studying his works in class. It is so exiting to learn the methods he used. /watch?v=bVGBH8JmF5U Bernstein is very helpful also.

  • @Sheeeeepies1 if theres a chord or a sound you like, transpose it into your own piece and alter it to suit, gradually you'll make them up yourself..... features of this style are lots of discords merging into further discords, unusual scales (whole tone and pentatonic), modes, and spread chords :) x

  • @xNaN3x I found this video really helpful also. /watch?v=bVGBH8JmF5U

    Thanks for the advice.

  • @Sheeeeepies1 Don't be worried if at first you're compositions sound like other people. it happens to every composer at the beginning, even Mozart. you write what you hear until you're confident and experienced enough to write in a style that you've never experienced before.

  • I want to fall into his songs!

  • We are teenagers who still enjoy real music. That's good.

  • I listen to a myriad of things, but I love piano! I love playing, and listening, I love music from the romantic and contemporary periods most~~~ I want to play all the songs I love!

  • Debussy takes my breath away.

    Literally.

  • Yes I'm 14, and yes, I believe this is quite beautiful. Debussy is definitely my favorite composer. I swear, every time I hear one of his masterpieces I see the beauty of the world. I'm one of those people whose mood is easily changed by the song I may be listening to. I fall asleep listening to Debussy, for it literally lets me into that dream state.

  • @LifeRunner6647

im the exact same. and im 14 also :)

  • @LifeRunner6647

That is exactly how I feel!

  • @LifeRunner6647

You clearly have good taste, and you are also one of the few people on YouTube who is able to write in complete, grammatically and orthographically correct sentences.

I may be presumptuous, but this underlines my politically incorrect belief that good taste and intelligence are somehow linked...
