Yeah although it makes you feel kinda unprofessional there is no sense making something from scratch if you have great tools. For example, the Bioshock series and the Gears of War series all run from a pre-built engine. To me its like giving an artist a paintbrush instead of making him manufacture his own. The more time spent on content and graphics the better.

I'm not a game programmer, but I dont think you have any limitation using XNA..

I'm new to programming, i'm finishing soon a .NET course of a year and 2 months.

first, the fastest way to build any kind of program is with C#! why? because you dont have the mess with memory collection and so and so.. as in C++ and the rest.

what is so slow with it? can you tell any kind of slowness with C/C++ comparing Assembler?

yes there difference between C++ and assembly and there is also a difference between the speed of C++ and C# . To me it seems that we are making things easier and faster to make but making the finished product slower
