I seen this movie for the first time at the odeon back in '73 or '74.I am just as entertained today as I was then. Today I have many of Ray Harryhausen's films. Really neat stuff!
Hollywood did a great job producing entertainment, if you are looking for something else, like truth, accuracy, fairness, courage, you haven't been paying much attention to the history of film. This film is great entertainment, and they still manage to crank it out. Being cringing cowards, hypocrits, and conniving liars hasn't stopped them and probably never will, even if most of what they make is crap, there have been and still are great entertainment and even great films.
@agitanna The executives don't. They're the guys directors and screenwriters have to pitch to, and if your story is creative and original, more often than not they flag it as "too risky" or "costs a lot of money". Sad, ain't it?
@zafarafridi Because when we think of the Middle East, we want to appreciate beautiful, friendly women, not just a bunch of bearded Salafi chauvinists trying to hide them at home. I've visited Jordan and Algeria, and Morocco, and have made many beautiful female friends there. Sorry if that bothers you. This is just a movie, and if you don't enjoy it, you shouldn't watch it, nor should you ruin other peoples' nice memories about a wonderful movie as this.
@zafarafridi And by the way, the tale of Sinbad circulated during the time of the Abbasid Dynasty; so yes, it had already been after the Islamic epoch. Everyone who has a healthy mind and heart enjoys a good story, and doesn't make perverse political remarks about it just because it's not their cup of tea.
aww man this was such a good movie like everything from the story to the actors to the plot for being made in the early 70's i used to watch this all the time a child. now being grown up looking back im very happy to have seen this movie :D

The bad guy was played by Tom Baker before he became more popular as Doctor Who. He can certainly play the villains well.

I don't understand why modern Hollywood movie makers have such trouble making excellent adventure movies like this.

@Fujiarmu Blame it on the executives in charge these days.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
why do the Hollywood always show that pre-islamic culture of semi-naked belly dancers
they are fully aware that it has nothing to do with Muslims and islam

@zafarafridi just enjoy the movie. This is fantasy, not real life.

I believe this is the same principle that compels some people to view all Christians as Bible thumping kooks.
