One of the most insulting pro-coal ads ever.

The "drainage ditches" built by coal companies to channel the floodwaters off the barren reclaimed sites do not approximate pure mountain streams. The streams made by God have trees in the riparian zone, and the benthic macroinvertebrates (helgramites) living in the stream consume leaf matter and convert it into protein, and they become fish food. The drainage ditches are lifeless.

This is called propaganda. How disgusting to think our people our ignorant enough to believe such b.s. I put a little more stock into our people and their intelligence than New Walker and Mr. Bug does. Beautiful reclamation is an oxymoron.

reality kills you tree huggers doesnt it?reclaimed strip mines are beatiful,USEFUL lands when completed ,i know im on them almost every day. and this windmill crap,solar,sure it may help but it wont be near enough,but i do have a secret,something all you cheese eating treehuggers will love,ive come up on a fairydust mine,sprinkle it on your home,runs everything no emmisions. give me a break people,dont like coal or mtr, SHUT YOUR ELECTRIC OFF,make a stand,untill then quit your whining.

@philbusa - Can you tell me where I can see some beautiful, forested reclaimed mine sites in eastern KY (Harlan, Bell, Knott or Letcher Counties)? I need a site where I can bring school groups, so there has to be public access and a decent road. Driving directions or any advice would be appreciated. I know about the Stonecrest Golf Course and have taken some of the groups there, but Floyd County is too far away.

sad thing is the public will believe this stuff. Ecology of benthic life is a lost concept within this realm. I need electricity, but coal can stand a cut in profit margin by complying with the Clean Water Act. They use this type of p.r. to thwart any environmental regulation that would cut into profit margin by being a good steward.

Yes, yes, Mr. Bug, I *do* need electricity in my home...I need a CLEAN, SUSTAINABLE source of electriciy, much like that provided by the wind or the sun, NOT a source of energy that demands the destruction of our lands and the pollution of our air and water.

I have a lot of friends in Eastern Kentucky defending their homes, schools, children, family graveyards, heritage, and health against outlaw coal companies... None of them are bugs.
