This can also be set up from the double wristlock (kimura) position while pinching his head with your knees. It originated from Catch Wrestling where it is called an "inverted short arm scissors"
Some bunch of idiots on this. I don’t know how you tolerate it to be honest. It’s a quality move and the kid is quite obviously a BJJ phenom. Live with it you nay-saying fucks. If you are not happy about the things shown by the 101 guys then get the fuck out of it as you have no place here. These guys are to polite to tell you this. I however am not.
So many turds in the comments with their opinion of what to do in this situation. Its just another option to ad to your arsenal. Its a great move. The more moves you know the less obvious your game. Love this move, love how it feels when locked in.
I like it but it seems like a low percentage move. It seems to depend on the guy draping his arm across your legs. Where I train every either wraps over the back or grabs an ankle until they adjust. I would think that if you beat him to the punch and cartwheel over there is no need for the rest. It seems like your putting a lot of faith in being able to roll which can be very difficult.
love the move, ill have to try it. seems like its all dependent on speed imo. this looks like ur relying on that arm being there, and he didnt already palm strike and switch hook.
no reason not to try for that instead of trying to roll on top/duckunder every time.
@iamjoseph951 yea. when ur opponent is using the roll to escape jiu claw, you use 1 arm to control the speed, the other to control direction. this is accomplished by palm striking his/her side (not in an aggressive manner, its more like a push).
watch mastering the rubber guard my man. it changed my whole game.
@YamaRider93 yea u can do a few things, but the most common is undoubtedly the sweep (or at least an attempt at it). i was just pointing out that a palm strike to the hip in jj is totally legal :) btw how the hell do u defend against this sub, aside from not getting caught in it in the first place? I showed it to a guy in class, he caught me with it, and i had no defense for it, I was just tapped. any suggestions? anyone?
@FrostuMcPenos, Well, I can't really think of a bulletproof escape right now, but my suggestion would be to try to get your whole arm between his legs and basically give him Jiu-Claw, roll, and give him a taste of his own medicine (but as I said earlier, be wary of the kneebar .) Or you can try to turn to the side of the trapped arm to get some slack and work your elbow out, and then go for side control on the far side of your opponent.
@YamaRider93 yep thats what i was thinkin too. my first instinct is to turn into him, but i quickly found out that was a bad idea (if he wants to, he can turn that into an armbar). i want to try to duck under, but u can almost do a London escape and get my legs to fly over his head into side control. im gonna have to try a bunch of escapes, which im not too thrilled about cuz bicep cutters hurt like balls. if u want to, let me know what u come up with. i'd appreciate it. :)
Damn nice creativity! We need guys like Red who are like think tanks for jiu-jitsu: constantly evolving. Of course the best think tank is Eddie haha but good job kid, I really enjoyed that
Tried it out last night in Judo. This is one badass move and the great thing is ,in judo arm crushes are allowed. Keep up the good work Red, Ari and everyone else from 10th Planet Vic!!!!!
Nice vid, can't wait for the gogoplata set-ups! :D I was gonna ask, for about two months so far I've been studying "Mastering The Rubber Guard" by Eddie Bravo, I know that was released some time ago, so are there alot of things I'm missing out on, from the 10th planet system? Considering I only own that dvd set, and watch submissions101.
i want in.......i could benifit, and feel could add a different level of intensity.....i don't give......and would be honoured to be trained buy you guys..
@Submissions101 That kid looks fierce. I also love that accent ! Straight outta the Trailer Park Boys ! You seem very proud of him and rightfully so. You look like a good father figure to him. Thank you for your videos also......you have many students that youve never met out there. I am one of them
Just an idea, but to make this worse take that leg your resting on his head move it around to his throat and pull back to stretch him out while torquing on the arm
i wonder if you'd get DQ'd at a tournament (bicep slicer) if you used it as a way to release your arm that is in danger rather than finish. Actually you could probably spin a little and transition to a triangle once your arm is free and you have that arm locked down eh?
@shukkydomes if someone has you in an omoplata - they are not a ball smasher. you would have gotten a face/ball/skull smashing way before getting here if that were the case.
I think you may be unaware of what is being shown here. This is nogi sport jiu jitsu. This is not reality self defense. I thought this would be obvious to the meanest of intellects on the slightest reflection....
@Submissions101 ha ha i think you are barking up the wrong tree with some of these people lol who can't figure that out for themselves .....i don't know how many times i hear stuff like " that wouldn't work in a street fight or i could bite his balls" ...some people are just strange.
keep up the great vids, love what you guys are doing over there..o'h and red is a monster
Awesome reversal....and I must note..Ive never seen so many red heads at one time...It seems like everyone in the vid had red hair or some variation of it....or is it just me.
@Submissions101 yeah it's an interesting counter to that specific situation, not sure how often it would come up though. What I think the video shows is the dangers in hooking both legs to stop the roll because you're so focused on finishing the omoplata, and that it might be better to let the arm go and take side control after he rolls. You might be able to keep the arm actually and establish a crucifix?
Have you seen Erik Paulson's chain from Omoplata to a kneebar when they roll?
food for thought. i had a jiujitsu instructor who was caught in an arm crush during a match. it broke his arm in seconds. he described it as the most deceptive submission he had ever seen.
@Predator101101: I am from Dublin. I had been training out of a club called Kokoro MAA but I am final year in college so I had to take a break. I still train on my own, but I really miss having people and a place to roll. BJJ is pretty much impossible on your own.
thats sucks, i've watched mma etc for years didnt know any where around where i lived that practised bjj or mma so i only got into it a couple of months ago. and yeah that sucks bjj is impossible solo lol
Ive always been a fan of the arm crush, especially with bigger guys with a great grip when going for an armbar. This is a sick transitional sub.. Well done.
Awesome, thank you for sharing the jujitsu love.
