They're upset because of the gender stereotyping. I personally think she's cute. But I think it does kinda ruin the "explorer" image a bit. If I were going to new places, etc, I wouldn't want to do it in a dress, legging, and ballerina slippers. Apparently she's going to be "solving mysteries". Making the outfit plausible. "This version of Dora  is an age-appropriate doll that lets girls continue to learn and grow with the character." Essentially, all tomboys must grow up. Cue outrage.

I can see both sides, of liking and not liking the new Dora. Personally I like the new Dora. The original is more for 2 to 5 year old girls. The new Dora seems to be more for the market after that. The problem with the 'tween' Dora is that they are trying to show that, as you grow up, and you loose fat, you can/ are expected to change everything about yourself! They entirely changed her body type, changed a lot of her accessories, what she was wearing- what next, change her friends? It's teachin' younger children bad things, and also pressuring them. We don't need them to feel uncomfortable with their body type because, now that they're older' /preteens/teens that they have to be skinny.
