@Angel8795 The one w/ Russel is good. I just watched one he did with Muriel. He giggled throughout the interview, which was a shock to me. Just type in Morrissey 1987.
mozz is just great. even after all these years. long live real music....if everyone in the world included this in their prayers....maybe we can stop musical doomsday from coming....
:) bring back the classics. (but keep the killers :) hehe)
I really don't like how zane lowe always refers back to himself in interviews - in my eyes he's so cocky!!!! Also, casually drinking a cup of coffee whilst interviewing Morrissey?? how dare he! lol
"when we communicate every day it's always very basic, we don't say anything terribly interesting - we're not supposed to"
i like this and agree. everything is kept so superficial. you're not supposed to talk about anything that matters or difficult things and dark emotions. not allowed room for it, except in some music.
Zane is an interviewer plus 1. He is just as much a conversationalist if not more so than an interviewer. He talks about himself a lot but always in reference and reverence to his interview subject, in this case Morrissey. Its a good thing I think, but it can be seen as self-centered. I don't think it is. What I would do to be in his shoes during this interview.
very pertinent Morrissey's point about singers you can always listen to, rather than just flavours of the month. Roy Orbison has to be one of the greatest
Well it helps to have an awful obssesion with Morrissey, a living legend. The man is a genius and I will probably end up watching every youtube video about him. But thanks for the recognition.
The best Morrissey interview I've seen so far.Must give Zane Lowe credit, well researched, unbiased, objective, engaging..can't ask for much more from an interviewer..especially with someone as difficult to 'open up" as Morrissey...& no, he doesn't go incredibly deep, but you can't with Morrissey...what Mozzer is about is in his music. But the interview is an excellent insight anyway into how Morrissey makes his records ( other interviewers have failed to go this much into his creative process)
i agree, i don't recall ever hearing Morrissey talk so much about the creative process, or even his relationship to current or previous non-smith related band members.
Morrissey obviously realises this guy is a professional, as well as being a fan, and treats him with more respect than the average journalist! heh.
I also agree with Morrissey about the sexual component of the human voice but i'd go further and say it very much has the potential to create genuine sexual attraction.
@lamentate07 I like your comments and you make me want to learn more about this 'Morrissey' guy. Who is he? Is he still the lead singer with The Cure? I liked his 'Friday I'm in love' from the early 90s. He looks different now though huh?
@Jobyperry WRONG!! Morrissey was and is the lead singer with The Cure. Althoight I agree, he looks quite different now. He doesnt have that goth look. I prefer him now.
@Monterey2am Oh my, your ignorance could kill. Maybe you should do a little research before you declare that someone else has been wrong about something.
@fakeitforme Ha ha, i get you, you're joking right! You are one fo these deeply ironic people yes! Very clever. As you know and have said before, my intellect and fact based statements know no bounds. Thank you.
i like morrissey for the same reason i like lenoard cohen, but not for the same reason i like buckley, thom yorke or the x-factor contestants.
a pleasing voice, with the right dynamics and prosodics have a different appeal to the emotion in delivered poetry but neither is neccesarily superirior to the other in form
amazing that someone so popular in music can't actually play an instrument... but his voice is his instrument and his lyrics are phenomenal... a legend
I actually like Zane Lowe. In regards to Morrissey, he more is less in fact.
Mozza seems more relaxed, as he is treating this as a conversation, not an intimidation like other interviewers. Morrissey is evasive, and doesn't ever really delve into much detail after all.
Mozz speak so calm in this interview - I love listenning to his work process, great artists , I now realize how lucky I was to see him in a concert live:-)

Morrissey's fibbing when he said "I was only ever interested in the singing voice". He wanted to be a drummer originally...

I think Zane did ok. I dont think he was fully at ease with Moz. I think hes more use to talkin very fast, being a bit of a wise ass etc.
