I FIND THIS MOTHER TO BE AMAZING ! i HAVE SEEN SO MANY WHITE MOTHERS WITH CHILDREN WITH COARSE KINKY HAIR AND THE HAIR LOOKS SO UNKEPT. I ALWAYS WONDER IF THEY ARE OVERWHELMED BECAUSE OF THIER LACK OF KNOWLWDGE OF HOW TO CARE FOR THIER CHILDS HAIR. NOW I SEE THIS MOTHER WHO HAS GAINED THE KNOWLEDGE FOR THE BENEFIT OF HER DAUGHTERS. I AM ACTUALLY LEARNING FROM HER. LOL
I love the way you teach it is awsome. I have been looking for a flat twist tutorial and this is the best one ive seen so far. please keep posting more tutorials love it thanks:)
Thank you for making this video! I have to agree that I have watched tons of tutorials and when they started to demonstrate the technique I was unable to see what they were doing. I can actually follow your technique from start to finish. I can't wait to give this a try.
wonderful tutorial, I understood every word and could see exactly what you were doing...I've watched at least a dozen of these video's ..some are so long ...you can't see what they're doing or anything....thank you so much for the info....I really thing I can master both twists with a little practice....expecially the rolling twist. I have fine relaxed hair and would love something different...w
You are a life saver. I have adopted African American kids and have been struggling with my daughter's hair (and damaged it) for 7 years. I have been depressed and desperate to help her. Your easy instruction is going to give her better self-esteem and save me a lot of money! Thank you.
i have never wanted or had a desire to have a youtube account i joined just so i could keep up in all you do ..katelynylyn all the best to you and your family
thanks for this video!!! I am Caucassion with a fiance' that has an african american girl. I have/am teaching myself how to care for her hair. I have already taught myself how to cornrow her hair as well as her dads (THE PARTING GETS ME THOUGH). I know how to do the puff twist but couldn't figure out how to keep them from puffing.. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
i love these videos!! i dont' know too many white ladies who even know how to treat the hair, i have friends with mixed kids and they send them over to me to do it for them (i dont have any kids of my own && im white too lol) but yu gave me a few great ideas that im ready to try...i just admire yu, because especially where im from, this is unheard of!! thanks for opening doors && ending stereotypes :)
Girl I love your videos. I got all kinds of ideas now. I especially like this one. I like doing two strand twist but I want to something a little extra and I think this is it. :) (I might skip the barrettes since I'm an adult. LOL) THANKS!!!
I have natural hair and I have been looking for flat twist tutorials and this one is one of the clearest as you can clearly see what your hands are doing! I want to do flat twist sets and flat twist outs but I can't see in some other vids how to twist the hair but I get it now! :) THANKS!!!
thank you so much! this is the best flat twist vid that ive seen. now i understand how to flat twist. when i do it on myself they are loose but i'll keep practicing! =)
Thanks for posting this. I'm african-american and my 3 year old daughter has really long curly hair. I can braid her hair, which use to last a week, but now that her texture is changing, I wanted to learn something new. Hopefully I can get this and try cornrowing too. Thanks so much!

Can you show how you wash your girls hair. That is the most difficult part for me. My daughter has extra thick hair and its always a fight to shampoo and condition.
@LilKiss2009 - please subscribe and watch for the announcement of the launch of my new website. I will talk about hair washing when the site gets started! I have recently started washing V's hair while in twists, and I think it is going to turn out to be my new favorite way to wash hair. It cuts down on the tangling that happens while washing and I don't have to do as much combing! YEAH!

@LilKiss2009 i know for me its easier to wash my hair and my baby's hair when its in twists.and what you do is just rub the shampoo on your fingertips and start to massage the scalp with it.your scalp needs to get as clean as possible.when you rinse the shampoo off of the scalp it will run down the hair strands and clean your hair that way.never put shampoo directly onto hair, especially if it has sulates.=] sulfates with strip the hair of everything including it's natural oils.=]
@LilKiss2009 If you're still having trouble (i doubt it since its been a year) what I like to do for my neices and nephews is use a detachable showerhead and shampoo and condition their hair in sections, keeping the areas Im not currently working on twisted up to avoid getting new tangles
You are doing a wonderful job with that baby's hair! Her hair looks so strong and healthy . I hope you never put any chemicals in her hair. Love the videos! Thanks for sharing.
@lyssaboo1000 exactly the same way, except you always have to band or clip them at the end or they will fall out, I've had my hair in flat twists and they stayed in about 3 days but looked messy after 2, cornrows stay in longer. My mum used to braid my hair and she found that if I used conditioner it was harder for her because the hair is more slippery, that's the only difference, it was much easier for me to braid her hair as hers is more textured (we have Aboriginal ancestry).
I did this with flat twists, but you were right, it didn't last very long in the front. I'm going to watch more videos to see if I can learn to cornrow. Thank you for sharing.
this video is better than the others because you can actually see EVERY step. hopefully i can learn to do flat twists. i need to wear something other than two strand twists.
i am going to show my neighbor this, she adopted 2 black girls and their hair is just wild, lol. I will be doing one of their hair tomorrow since i can't take it anymore. she needs to step her game and atleast try and i will show her your video. great job
You are doing a wonderful job. I watched your videos and i still don't know how to cornrow hair!! Can you teach me in person how to do conrows? Im not a visually learner i have to actually do it. I tried to do it on my nieces hair and i still dont know how.
I would love for you to show a video on how to complete the rows of twist from the nape area and around the ears. I can never get this right. Thanks so much in advance.
I love your videos - thanks for posting them. I have a biracial daughter and no experience with braiding etc ... your videos are a great help ... keep them coming ;) ... thanks a lot!!! Your daughter is beautiful!!
at the very END of the video Katelynlyn says you can just split your braid into 2 sections and start to twist. I think it would hold with a cornrow at the front but if you have twists, you would have to use a band.
If I wanted to achieve this look, how would I change up from the cornrow or the flat twist to end with the twist that you have all over the head? Thanks for your response.
You do such an excellent job, Katelynlyn. I mean, you explanations are so thorough - within the first minute of your video, you gave precise instructions. Wow!
