  • This song is derived from an old Scottish war song originally about soldiers going to war and missing their homes as they left.

  • @SuperAngelstewart You freaking noob. Nova Scotia's not a city, it's a province, and learn to spell.

  • i love this song :) I was born there we sung it when we left Nova Scotia to move to ontario

  • nic e video :) i live in NS also :)

  • Marvelouse,good bye from France.

  • Great song, and well played. Love Nova Scotia. My grandmother was from there originally and emigrated to the states when she was 12 with her family. Acadien and French speaking, but this song still resonates. Love it.

  • @kiltedwarrior1980 Alba Nuadh gu brath ...Alba cuideachd ..:):)..Nova Scotia forever...Scotland too. :):):)

  • They all need to come home.

  • @thetruth8431I do not agreed with war but I have love ones I never do anything to get them hurt.So I noting what really feel about this war just get our boys and women home!!

  • @peoplestandup Yes you are very right.I do not even think it is a real war just trying to keep it going so they can make as much money as they can.

  • @thetruth8431 Yes they do. We are wasting our time over there. If we would actually let those soldiers fight, the war would have been over years ago. We should just bring them boys home. Before more of there futures are wasted.

  • @forrestry your very right.

  • @pineo81

Well I am sorry but you can't know many people in Nova Scotia this a song is like National anthem here Nova Scotia. I heard this all my life as young boy and made me proud to be Nova Scotia,Now many people sing different version put this great song doesn't sound anything like Texas lol!

  • @peoplestandup

My Family Has been in NS since 1760. i wasn't saying anything about the SONG, just the accent of the singer. I'm not saying the singer was bad either, I just don't understand why country singers use the texas accent. Very sorry if I offended you.

Also if you are down the valley this summer be sure to take in some of the Planter Celebrations, it's the 250th anniversary of our arrival from New England

  • @peoplestandup it sounds extremely western, Texan, there's even a god damned banjo.

  • @peoplestandup the Irish Rovers do a good version of this.

  • I have to leave Nova Scotia in 2 days on a posting to move =( I will miss it from one shore to another

  • @simbrow: I understand you greatly.

    Here are the words:

The sun was setting in the west,

The birds were singing on every tree.

All nature seemed inclined to rest

But still there was no rest for me.

Farewell to Nova Scotia, the sea-bound coast,

Let your mountains dark and dreary be.

For when I am far away on the briny ocean tossed,

Will you ever heave a sigh or a wish for me?

  • I grieve to leave my native land,

I grieve to leave my comrades all,

And my parents whom I love so dear,

And the bonnie, bonnie lass that I do adore.

    Farewell to Nova Scotia . . .

The drums they do beat and the wars to alarm,

The captain calls, and I must obey.

So farewell, farewell to Nova Scotia's charms,

For it's early in the morning and I'm far, far away.

    Farewell to Nova Scotia . . .

  • I have three brothers and they are at rest,

Their hands are folded on their breast.

But a poor simple sailor just like me,

Must be tossed and driven on the dark blue sea.

    Farewell to Nova Scotia . . .

    And that is it, simbrow.

  • what are the words to fairwell to nova scotia nova scotia is my adopted my province i live in ontario nova scotia calls me back i will return
