He sang to my cousin Elizabeth before she died, I came to this video to thank him. His music brought her joy, and he gave her the greatest goodbye gift. She was 10 years old and she died last year, on July 1st at 12:00 PM on the dot. I miss her so much and I wish that I had the strength to say goodbye to her...

This will all be done by the skilled crews of the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Josh Turner wrote it himself and was inspired after listening to complete boxed set of Hank Williams songs released by Mercury in 2000. He was signed for a month at the Opry December 2001, despite not having a website, record out or a video, received a standing ovation and Bill Anderson invited him to do another. Not having another, he just sang The Long Black Train again with the same rapturous applause. I applaud, as well!!!

This song is about the old saying, "the wages of sin are death", & that God will save you from your sin if you turn to Him. All of the people were battered & beaten by a world ruled by evil: con man, drug addicts, pregnant teen, anorexics, etc. For most of the people, you could see the sin that was destroying them. At the end, when the train passes through the people, the ones taken gave in to sin until they died, the ones left are the ones who turned to God, so yes, the baby stayed in her.

I love this music video... I don't think the people who got hit were supposed to symbolize them committing suicide... they were people who had sinned and then not accepted God, so the devil picked them up on the long black train. But the ones who stood there and the train passed through them had repented and were saved. :) Beautiful song.

last week i noticed that josh turner was performing in sandusky, ohio and merely jotted this down on my desk calendar...i'd never heard of josh turner. i guess i was thinking it would be nice to go downtown and see a show. i forgot about the show until this morning, the day after the show.
i came home, began working on my book, looked for a photo of a train on flikr.com -found a photo, clicked on the poem attached to photo and guess what...it led me to josh's song. I think this was amazing.

I work for the Railroad where this was filmed. And that "Long Black Train" shown here is Ex. U.S. Army #610, supposedly one of if not the LAST steam locomotive commercially built in the U.S.A. The engine is now out of service by order of the Federal Railroad Administration for mandatory Class A, Form 4 Rebuild (Boiler Inspection). This will all be done by the skilled crews of the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Josh Turner wrote it himself and was inspired after listening to complete boxed set of Hank Williams songs released by Mercury in 2000. He was signed for a month at the Opry December 2001, despite not having a website, record out or a video, received a standing ovation and Bill Anderson invited him to do another. Not having another, he just sang The Long Black Train again with the same rapturous applause. I applaud, as well!!!

This song is about the old saying, "the wages of sin are death", & that God will save you from your sin if you turn to Him. All of the people were battered & beaten by a world ruled by evil: con man, drug addicts, pregnant teen, anorexics, etc. For most of the people, you could see the sin that was destroying them. At the end, when the train passes through the people, the ones taken gave in to sin until they died, the ones left are the ones who turned to God, so yes, the baby stayed in her.

I love this music video... I don't think the people who got hit were supposed to symbolize them committing suicide... they were people who had sinned and then not accepted God, so the devil picked them up on the long black train. But the ones who stood there and the train passed through them had repented and were saved. :) Beautiful song.

last week i noticed that josh turner was performing in sandusky, ohio and merely jotted this down on my desk calendar...i'd never heard of josh turner. i guess i was thinking it would be nice to go downtown and see a show. i forgot about the show until this morning, the day after the show.
i came home, began working on my book, looked for a photo of a train on flikr.com -found a photo, clicked on the poem attached to photo and guess what...it led me to josh's song. I think this was amazing.
