Su-30MK is comparable to the F-15E Strike Eagle. Getting a lock on another aircraft during peacetime is hardly impressive. The Indians have consistently got the better of the PAF every time there has been a major engagement, I very much doubt that will change, they have better pilots, better training, and better weapons.

maneuverability does matter. if u look at the USAF 3rd generation fighters like F-4 phantom, they lacked maneuverability and the American realized their mistake seeing Mig-21 and Mig-29's superior maneuverability. Long range air to air missile is highly ineffective against highly maneuverable aircraft, proven in Eritrea-Ethiopia war. USAF then developed helmet mounted sight, redesigned their aircraft to be more maneuverable and started designing thrust vectoring engine. all these for something
how many "modern" air to air missile do you think can your JF-17 carry? 7 in total without carrying any other heavy weapon or extra fuel tank! Even the latest Israeli or American short range missile will have <100% probability of hitting the target. With beyond visual range it decreases below 50% and also with chinese made missile,PAF will have way less than 50% success rate for their BVR missile. No chance with BVR.Best chance is to use effective short range missile which will require dogfight
why do you think Americans stage Red Flag every year if there were simply no need of maneuverability in modern fighter jets?! Even if air fighting is done by BVR missile, one air force needs highly maneuverable air craft to save itself from those missile. Hi Ali the reason the Su30 is more expensive is because its avionics are multinational and not russian alone.Not only that but its a heavier fighter than the JF17 and also has thrust vectoring + 2 pilots not one. The JF17 is not in the same class as the Su30. Its more comparable to the LCA.The SU30 is in the same class as the F15 Eagle.

Su-30MKI has a mix of french, indian and israeli avionics and electronic devices on a russian built frame. The deal with Su-30 is it's modularity, so the customer decides what to put in it. India opted for that avionics mix so as not to depend 100% on Russia for maintainance and repair of the plane.

Thats because the Indians never switched on the BARS radar to its full capacity and neither did they use 100% of their datalink capability. They were operating the radar on training mode severely limiting its capability reducing situational awareness to almost 90%. The radar info in the SU30MKI is highly classified and has never been used in any exercise with the west. Nellis AFB is wired to the hilt and the IAF along with the russians do not want their radar frequencies decoded.
Even the RAF had to fly tornadoes along with the MKI's to give them some visibility as the Indians refused to use their radars. This is a good thing because apart from the Russians and Indians nobody knows what the BARS is capable of doing. That piece of info will only be available in the event of a serious conflict when the BARS goes into 100% battle mode which will be quite amusing because apparently that radar is a monster.

Yeah the SU-30MKI is a great aircraft all around. The next best 4th generation fighter was the F-14D IMHO. Had the Tomcat not been left to die funding wise it would be second only to the F/A-22 today.

And in Red Flag, there is no role for main avionic components(Indian pilots are strictly restricted from using its highly-classified N011M Bars Russian Radar on Red Flag). Su-30MK is comparable to the F-15E Strike Eagle. However, F-15E is a dedicated long-range heavy weight strike aircraft with bvr air-to-air capabilities, the Flanker is a true multi-role, highly maneuverable fighter capable of bvr and wvr air combat and decent air-to-ground capabilities. I think nowadays, Indian Air Force is superior to all neighbouring air forces having Su-30MKI in the fleet in great numbers. Unfortunately Pak's far behind. Even the Chinese dont possess such an advanced machine.

hey dont comment with out any basics, Pak spy air craft was flying insided indian side or very close to the border where both (Ind,Pak) were not suppose to come even 10 km closer to it, when Atlantic violated n spying thats wen Indians intercepted it with MIGs. Mig pilots asked them to land in indian territory for violating the agrrement in return Atlantic tryied to escape and get in to Pak territory..thats when IAF shot down the Atlantic. for this ur defence officials to be blamed.

Getting a lock on another aircraft during peacetime is hardly impressive. The Indians have consistently got the better of the PAF every time there has been a major engagement, I very much doubt that will change, they have better pilots, better training, and better weapons.

maneuverability does matter. if u look at the USAF 3rd generation fighters like F-4 phantom, they lacked maneuverability and the American realized their mistake seeing Mig-21 and Mig-29's superior maneuverability. Long range air to air missile is highly ineffective against highly maneuverable aircraft, proven in Eritrea-Ethiopia war. USAF then developed helmet mounted sight, redesigned their aircraft to be more maneuverable and started designing thrust vectoring engine. all these for something

how many "modern" air to air missile do you think can your JF-17 carry? 7 in total without carrying any other heavy weapon or extra fuel tank! Even the latest Israeli or American short range missile will have <100% probability of hitting the target. With beyond visual range it decreases below 50% and also with chinese made missile,PAF will have way less than 50% success rate for their BVR missile. No chance with BVR.Best chance is to use effective short range missile which will require dogfight

why do you think Americans stage Red Flag every year if there were simply no need of maneuverability in modern fighter jets?! Even if air fighting is done by BVR missile, one air force needs highly maneuverable air craft to save itself from those missile. Stealth is even compromised in F-22 when its weapon bay opens.Stealth is a handy feature which everyone is focusing on, not just americans. but maneuverability is still a bigger feature.JF-17 surely is not as good in stealth as you are assuming

Hi Ali the reason the Su30 is more expensive is because its avionics are multinational and not russian alone.Not only that but its a heavier fighter than the JF17 and also has thrust vectoring + 2 pilots not one. The JF17 is not in the same class as the Su30. Its more comparable to the LCA.The SU30 is in the same class as the F15 Eagle.

Su-30MKI has a mix of french, indian and israeli avionics and electronic devices on a russian built frame. The deal with Su-30 is it's modularity, so the customer decides what to put in it. India opted for that avionics mix so as not to depend 100% on Russia for maintainance and repair of the plane.

Russia has claimed to have penetrated that radar net undetected - a different occasion from the intercept...
Honestly I don't know what kind of plasma it uses - even if I was a physicist I wouldn't be allowed to know about Russia's top secret tech...
Evidently plasma isn't visible to radar, otherwise it wouldn't be used in stealth tech... I've heard that they've solved visibility problems, but can't prove it.
By the way I'd never heard the info you gave me, can you give me a link to it?

Thats because the Indians never switched on the BARS radar to its full capacity and neither did they use 100% of their datalink capability. They were operating the radar on training mode severely limiting its capability reducing situational awareness to almost 90%. The radar info in the SU30MKI is highly classified and has never been used in any exercise with the west. Nellis AFB is wired to the hilt and the IAF along with the russians do not want their radar frequencies decoded.

Even the RAF had to fly tornadoes along with the MKI's to give them some visibility as the Indians refused to use their radars. This is a good thing because apart from the Russians and Indians nobody knows what the BARS is capable of doing. That piece of info will only be available in the event of a serious conflict when the BARS goes into 100% battle mode which will be quite amusing because apparently that radar is a monster.

A Russian scientist wrote the first paper on the use of shapes to reflect radar waves away from an object in certain ways (in the 70s I think - this was the discovery of stealth) - the Soviet AF considered it, but rejected it as too costly.
I can't give you a link to the proof 'cos I'm too lazy, but the facts are well-known among non-americans.
Prove to me that plasma stealth is a failed Russian science - I don't believe you.

as for plasma... what exactly is Mig 1.44 is using if you dont mind me asking? cold plasma or hot plasma? you see, both needs to be integrated into the planes capability. plasma whether cold or hot according to some articles iv red glows at night sky and its energy also appears on radar... so what is it exactly is Mig 1.44 using?

dont tell me about plasma... if US stealth tech is detectable russian plasma tech is junk and false claims... ive researched on this technology but till now they dont have a concrete evidence of its use. give me articles or materials showing it does works till then its all propaganda. look at SU-47 as claimed to have plasma stealth to find out with only reduced heat signature, vodkavictim.

You're biassed - you're so convinced of Russia's inferiority (& probably hate Russia so much) that you're unable to accept the thought that she could in any way be better than the US.
Russia claims TU95s have been able to penetrate NATO radar nets near Canada undetected - that was probably using stealth tech to stealth the propos which give a HUGE return.
I suspect that being a sensitive tech much of the research is kept secret, but I'll research.

I'm a linguist, not a physicist - so I don't well understand what I can find out about Plasma stealth in the short time I've had to research it - You however say you've researched this tech & that it's junk - yet fail to mention that Plasma stealth as applied in MiG 1.44 Flatpack (Gen 3 i think) bought it's radar signature near to Raptors despite the fact Flatpack has Canards which give increase RCS.
Frankly I'm dubious about the quality of your research.

And then when in next attack an other f 117 came at the same path they just launched a heat seeking missile at the same path so thats how they shot him

Keep thinking that pal, The F-22 has its problems no doubt but it is a vastly superior aircraft to the SU- 30 MKI, I have met the women in charge of buying the Indian Air force aircraft. She was an integral part the the SU-30 purchase and she said flat out. " Like everyone else we wanted the F-22, but we had to compromise." Go back to your armchair general status in Greece

Stupid discussion on F22 and Su 30 given that they are planes that belong to 2 different generations.I mean wasn't Su 30 MKI/Su-35 and future versions like Su 47 the reason behind the US coming out with F22 in the first place.Compare F22 with the Su T50 PAK FA when it's out for the Russian and Indian Air forces.That would make more sense.

True without Bias. Even though i am a bit skeptical on stealth as a whole, the f 22 is a modern airframe with excellent electronic warfare suite tvc and most importantly super cruise.
But we can beat the chinks and pakis with this one.

Yeah the SU-30MKI is a great aircraft all around. The next best 4th generation fighter was the F-14D IMHO. Had the Tomcat not been left to die funding wise it would be second only to the F/A-22 today.

Su-30MKI was introduced in 2002
F-22 was introduced in Dec, 2005
As of right now there is no fighter jet that can be comparable to F-22.

I am Indian and i love the sukhoi. But i disagree with your comment on the beauty of the planes. I think the Americans and the French make the most beautiful fighters. The F 16 and the Rafale are my favorites in terms of look.
