I bought this plane yesterday, I do have a sim and some expreience on 4 channel, but I am taking lessons with a RC flight instructor at the R/C flying club here, just in case, and i wat my liscense so... The people in the store say it's one of the best trainers and on the web I can't find a better one. Great video!
I've had this plane for over 6 months. It was my first plane. I would definitely recommend this one for beginners. However, I would strongly suggest getting a simulator first. I got the real flight g5 about three months before this plane and it was definitely worth all the money. If you learn fast and think that 3ch is too little I can think of no other plane that suits a greedy beginner than this one. Ps. Without the simulator I would've destroyed my apprentice in no time. Be wise and get the
I was interested in purchasing one of these. i was attracted by the brushless power which isn't temperamental like nitro, and the very conventional overhead wing layout suited to beginners. Watching this video it just looks so big and floaty, like it's more comfortable in the air than on the ground. That's just the sort of thing I'm looking for. Anyone got any feedback?
@launch4 I saw an apprentice for the first time, yesterday. It was trick and a hoot. I have a super cub and Cessna 182 and a Fly max pusher prop. I highly recommend the apprentice. In fact, I'm going to buy one today. It is smooth sailing, big, beautiful and slow flying. A perfect beginners plane, but first get some practice on a flight simulator, like I have.
I just talked to a guy at a shop and am about to buy my first R/C plane. I have flown the apprentice before and loved it ...BUT the guy at the shop "recommended" the CUB LP instead.
given that im not a "R/C" guy and like I said, about to buy first plane..which would be a better option? I just dont want to buy a $200 plane then "outgrow" it in a week now needing a $300 plane to make the next step. Is it worth it to save that $200 (on the cub) and get the apprentice?
Just maidened mine today... unfortunately lost it in the sun while flying inverted at a relatively low altitude... $15 I believe is what the total for the front end is going to come out to (cowling, spinner, propeller, motor mount). Otherwise great airplane... blame this one on pilot error, plane did nothing wring
hi, im new to RC flying and im wondering whether i should get a e-flite beaver, e-flite apprentice or a park zone super cub. I want a good beginer plane to start out with and those are my choices
what is the largest battery/ motor combo you can put into this plane? I want to get this plane but I want to know if I can upgrade once I get used to it to get longer flight time as well as faster? Thanks
Great video, thanks a lot for posting! it taught me that even though this is a begginer plane it really can do some cool stuff! Can't wait to get mine =D
its really not a beginner plane unless you have a flying field that you can get help and advice from fellow flyers. This was my second plane and a great purchace. It is a little hard to land because its a trainer but thats just one of the downsides to it. It will teach you how to land well as a result. If you have never flown, get help. This can be a first plane.
I enjoyed my Apprentice until.....that cheap plastic nose wheel housing cracked at the screw and the gear can't be held in place. That nose wheel control arm housing should have beeb made of metal not pastic. No good way to fix it, so my Apprentice just sits and sits because of a poorly designed cheap plastic part, dissapointed in e-flite for this. Seems these days 'sales' are more important that 'quality'. No more 'foam' planes for me.
Plastic does fail, which is why it should not have been used to secure the metal nose wheel wire with a metal screw in a 'plastic housing' which is the clear brittle type instead of strong nylon. The nose wheel housing is molded with the whole firewall which is glued/epoxied to the front of the plane and no way to remove without destroying the foam fuselage. I finally cut out the cheap plastic arm, modified and installed a new one with metal sleeve and set screw and she is flying happy again.
Thanks for your kind question; Also, to 'replace' the part means buying a whole new fuselage for a little cracked collar! The Apprentice is a great airplane that I love, an obvious poor engineered part just really sets me off but I was to harsh in bashing E-flite and foam planes, I retract and apologize...
I wasn't trying to diss you, I know sometimes product come faulty. I forgot to put a smily face in my comment. I have the apprentice and its a great plane, Maybe yours just came with a weak mount and I'm sure your a great pilot. Hell, I wrecked my cub I got for Christmas last weak and that why I got the apprentice. Although my crash was from 25 gusting to 35mph winds on landing. I was bored, wish I got it on tape:) Nearly took off my neighbors head. Fortunatly just a few hairs:)
Full speed into wind, pull the nose up to about 30 degrees then use right or left aileron which will see a nice barrel roll. Do this very high till you get used to it.
yes, it's a perfect introductory model with enough capabilities to take you further into the hobby with basic aerobatic capabilities. It's also a good slow speed model for training
I had mine for about 3 weeks, then the elevator servo came loose... *Crash*.
She's been rebuilt, with a power 25, 40 amp esc, and soon to come, wing struts, clipped wings and enlarged control surfaces... Now, If I could only get it to stop raining here in Orlando.
I was very impressed by this model. A new flyer to our field just bought the complete RTF package. I performed the maiden and set trims and this model flew solid. I'm usually not into foam airplanes but this one flies as good as a built-up model. Very impressed with the range and response of the included DX5 radio.
i can do prop hangs with my apprenticee but i use a three blade prop not the stock one

Can I ask if you tried to replace the part? Plastic does fail. Your local hobby shop will have the right part if thats where you bought it...
