  • KIKI is absolutely Beautiful and Talented! She could pass for J P Morgans daughter, the singer who was a panelist on the GONG show!

  • @rodneyhackenflash Kiki was probably the same age.

  • LOL! Sorry about that Rodney. Elton and KIKKI are the same age. J.P.? LOL!

  • lol

  • The story was out. The infamous '76 Rolling Stone Magazine interview had happened.

    ELTON JOHN PROCLAIMS: "I'M BISEXUAL!"

The #1 Hits and records stopped coming. "America," the first Country to embrace him as their own, had let him down. But Elton never let us down, and he wouldn't for the next 35 years to come. All it took, was those legendary 1974 and `75 recordings at Caribou Ranch, Colorado, to realize that Elton John was indeed:

"The greatest rock and roll musician to have ever lived!"

  • I recorded Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word. I hope you enjoy it.

  • i like katie and peters version two :)

  • probably the best recording of this song

  • Takes me way back to being a kid.

  • me too. sitting in the buick and waiting for a lollypop from the bank 'drive in'.

  • Yeah! My folks had a Ford Granada. :) Remember it well!

  • ha oh those were the days weren't they, the bank drive thru was the shit

  • beautiful song

  • Did they record this at Caribou?

  • For the people wondering about the lack of interaction between them - this was a "pick-up" video. It was shot with 3 cameras in one take with no script. The director told them to pretend they were in a recording studio and had them ad-lib the entire video (thus the repeated missed cues, and so on) as they tried to lip-sync. Neither had any idea what the other was going to do, so it took a while for them to get coordinated on the performance. This could be the lowest budget video ever.

  • it is the lowest budget music video ever.

  • typical format tho for videos of the time, most music vids were staged "live" performances

  • Geez, did we know he was gay then? Good thing we didn't have video in those days.

  • It's a real Golden oldy...but still very good!!!

And so far i know is Elton bisexual.

Nothing wrong with that,he's a great preformer.

    Worth?? Big 5 *****

  • Nothing better than early Elton!

  • summer of '76......Sun came up around April 20th and went down sometime late September...didnt rain once....England, Summer 1976...

  • Comment removed

  • I sense some sort of bitterness between them during the begginging of the song. They dont really get into it much untill the end.

  • orlijohnny: You may be right, but I didn't notice anything, just some initial awkwardness. On what do you base your claim of bitterness?

  • I dont know, it just seems as if Elton tries to touch and she kinda backs away.

I may be wrong. Still, great song.

  • great song is this his wife???

  • lmao... no he's bent. The song is about loving boys and no one knowing. Get it.

  • dlane1987 - I don't think it's about loving boys. Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics and he's straight.

  • haha, Elton have a boyfriend,he is not maried...

  • This Song is awsome!!!!!! btw me myself wotever shut up!

  • he didnt come out till just after the release of this song. But regardless of sexual orientation he's a great artist.

  • One of the best duets of the 70's... one of the cheesiest and cheapest music videos !! (yes.. it was done on the fly and it isn't even a real recording studio !)

  • amooo muuito essa musica

  • i love this song

  • omg i just noticed they misspelled the name of the song at 0:44 hahaha i was too distracted by them

  • i always loved this song.....itd be fun to sing it with someone

  • She was my first crush as a kid, until I saw Olivia Newton John. I forgot how cute she was.

  • MIKA: ***'don't go changing your mind***

  • nice overalls!!!!!

  • This was one of my favorite songs back then, too bad Kiki Dee's voice isn't that great anymore.

  • i think he is a fine dancer :)

  • This videos director was found in the midst of filming a Rod Stewart television special. He was pulled aside, located an unused soundstage, hastily dressed it to give the appearance of a recording studio, setup three cameras and had the two singers pretend to record their vocals. Shot in a single take while being told to improvise, Elton John and Kiki Dee often missed their cues and Johns attempt to lead Dee in a very haphazard dance sequence caught his companion off guard.

  • A song that still hits me as hard as when it came out!

  • I don't really care if Elton is gay, or if he was awkward in this vid. (Both really don't matter), this is an awesome tune, especially for the time period it was a hit in, 1976. And yes, Kiki is very cute in this vid.

  • Anyone else love that Kiki forgot to lip sync her part at 2:08? :) She looks really guilty for a minute - Pretty smoothe recovery though!

  • And Kiki Dee is very delicious, coveralls or not.

  • elton john is showing his disco side XD

  • Well, of course, duh! Since this song came out in 1976 and was a late summer 1976 #1 song according to Billboard Mags' HOT 100 charts (for four weeks). I mean after all that was about the time when disco was really starting to catch fire with the public as a whole (or at least the majority of young people).

  • nice hair kiki................go elton

  • I want Eltons suit! lol

  • Este vidio é umas das melhores epocas de Elton john. Ele inspira na melhor face da musica nos anos 70 .......... para bens....youtube..

  • A great, fun EJ song recorded pretty much when he was at the top of his game. At his heyday, he boasted probably the best voice in contemporary music -- not impressive in a traditional, classic sense, but so elastic, so emotive, astonishing range. Folks who are only familiar with his stuff from the mid 80's and forward can't possibly appreciate what a monster talent Elton John was.

  • lol look at his face at 2:36

  • Great Song

  • muy buena esta cancion

  • very awkward video

    good song tho

  • Huh?!?!? I agree EJ was consistently one of the most awkward, in-front-of-the-camera performers around -- except here! In this pre-MTV video, he is relaxed, funny, seems to be genuinely having fun. This has got to be one of the best duets ever -- she does a terrific job going toe to toe with him vocally. EJ was a singing phenom, but KiKi holds her own here. Did she do much of anything musically after this? I always wondered what happened to her.

  • Yeah, you've got the 'most awkward' part exactly right, he's making something that sounds like rock and roll music and look here, this bastard can't even freaking honor it by dancing? Talented, yeah, but WTF?!?!? That bastard can't dance.

  • Khultan, you've quoted my "most awkward" comment out of context -- he is normally so in front of the camera, but is very natural and at ease in this video. Quite unlike his other music video work (check out his stiff and ungainly performance of "Pinball Wizard" in the film Tommy. I love his musical cover of that song; hate the video, though. Here, however, (Don't Go Breaking My Heart) his visual rendering of the tune is delightful, perfect for the carefree nature of the song.

  • Sjplwc, yes, I realize it is out of context but that's exactly what the idea I had in mind and so used your words. I said he is a talented musical man, but the man *I do know he's gay* CANNOT DANCE and he's a musician. Maybe he's defining the idea that the two don't necessarily go together but that doesn't wash with me having seen other musicians and artists.

  • Agreed that he is clearly not much of a dancer. Even here, I think the little jig he does is clearly tongue in cheek -- maybe that's why it works for me. He's not trying to convince us he can dance -- I think he's poking fun at his attempt to do so. If the story of this entire video being improvised is true, that could be the key here: seems like EJ is being himself, not trying too hard and so he comes off naturally.

  • How rude! He initiates the dance and then when Kiki Dee reciprocates the rude fellow terminates....that bastard!! I come from a family of fun loving, dancing, booty shaking all night long and you just do not do that!

  • k bein bravo bravo i loved it

  • Her hair is weird. She looks like a mushroom.

  • It was the 70's. Everybody's Hair was weird.

  • Just for Jessica...

  • LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that's funny

  • A song that has withstood the test of time. 33 years later and it still sounds GREAT and sets the standard for pop/rock music. One of the BEST, if not the best duos or pairings in rock and roll history. Kiki, an underrated singer with soul and HEART, and Elton, already an ICONIC LEGEND! THANK YOU for posting!

  • Of course props to Elton and the Hot Kiki...the band and background singers are real tight too and it would have been great to be seeing them play and sing on the video too!

  • I love it when Kiki Dee starts dancing and Elton John stands there and looks at here like "WTF?"

  • Who cares? Republicans? This is nice so FO.

"Close to a woman in a way he has never done" ?

Elton John was married to a woman from 1984 to 1988. Her name was Renate Blauel , she was his sound engineer for a few albums.

After they divorced he announced he was fully gay as opposed to bisexual as reported by RS magazine in 1976.
