  • wow...Im trying to breed my G. roseas, but the male and the female are just ignoring each other!! Male did spermweb, do you know why??

  • Sometimes we learn more from failure than from success since failure leads to greater reflection. Have you considered putting a divider between them like mesh to see first if they look receptive? And remove it if they do?

  • This is just a risk you have to take when mating, when it happens it does indeed suck. People may give you crap for prying the female off, but I do understand that it's one of the most difficult things to do to just sit back and watch it happen. I do hope future attempts go well for you, man. Much respect to you!

  • oooo nnooo, poor tarantula

  • I'd be so pissed !!!

  • poor guy

  • im sure, with the fast attacking, they scared the shit out of you, i know^^

  • When this shit is happening just use your water sprayer. You must be faster than female bite male. It's quite simple and it is really functional ;-)

  • he was a beatiful male ....

  • nice you tryied to safe his life ... i hate it when people dont do anything if it fails .... :( sry for yoou -.-

  • its fairly simple. use a chopstick as a guard.

  • :( I was hoping she wouldn't have did that but I knew something was going to happen. Hopefully next time.

  • How often did you feed her, and how large of meals? Sometimes there's nothing you can do to prevent a female from eating a male, but feeding her up real good before mating helps.

  • That's a whole nother level of rejection right there. Poor we fellar.

  • Awwwww mate, well gutted for you & the males owner x

  • you should have taken the male out as soon as he was on the side. That showed he did not want to mate with the female to start with. But hey it happens that's nature for ya. Just be more careful if you try again.

  • Guys, concerning allowing the male being eaten, beleive me I tried all I could to protect the male. The only way I would ever allow the male to be eaten is in the case that the female's fangs puncture the carapace. Once this happens, there is no way the male will survive. I'd be a waste not to allow the male to be eaten. He will just die a slow and pointless death.

There is only so fast you can move/do in a tarantula pairings, the best thing you can do is time your matings correctly.

  • @jcv4200 I completely agree with you now, it would have been better to let him go, I didn't understand before but now I understand what you were comming from. You didn't want the male to suffer through the process of the Tarantula's acidic poison. It would have been best to let him get eaten so that he wouldn't have been in that much pain. @jla2358 Sorry for you're loss, my rabbit died from a seisor or heart attack and we were sad about it too, ;(

  • Not meaning to be mean or cruel but it would have been more beneficial if you just let the female eat him. By prying her off the male, you could have seriously hurt the female. This is how nature is. If she decides to eat him, let her. She gets the nutrients and then you try again. Males don't live that long anyway. I'm not heartless. This really does suck. I would be very upset to the point of tears but I would have just let him go. Once the fangs go into the carapace or abdomen, game over.

  • @jla2358 I completly agree. I did think of letting him get eaten, but the male was not mine, plus emotion took over. Next time it happends, I will let the females decide his fate. Although if she has only injures his legs, I will intervene.

  • @vaatithewindmage I'll refer you to Tarantulaguy1976's video titled "A.versicolor mating attempt - didn't end well for the male". He is one expert I would trust any day. tarantula's are unpredictable. It's not the fault of the owner, male T, or even the female T. Yes, it is the responsibility of the owner to properly care for any pet but you don't know jcv4200's intentions were. He may own a pet store and was raising slings to sell. You don't know, I don't know.

  • @jla2358 Tarantulaguy1976 saved one of his males from getting killed by one of his females and he even treated it's wound too.

  • @vaatithewindmage You get lucky. But in this case, it was over from the moment the fangs went in. Internal damage is the hardest thing to fight with injured Ts. You patch up the outside and hope for the best. In this case though, there wasn't much you could do. But, your mind is made up and I'm not going to fight with you further. You're right and I'm wrong so have a blessed day!

  • @jla2358 I'm not fighting I'm not really trying to cause a fight I was just pointing out facts.

  • @vaatithewindmage It came off that way. I'm not saying I'm an expert. Really NO ONE is a true expert on these things but my opinion is based off written facts from guides and visual guidance from fellow hobbyists. I own a few Ts and I don't plan on breeding. I don't like it when a pet gets hurt. But I read and watch to learn and what I say is from what I have witnessed and learned.

  • @jla2358 I'm not trying to cause a fight believe me I'm not. I got my informattion from facts too but when I was trying to discover new info I was surprised to see this type of species attack in an aggressive manner, because the Brachypelma Albopilosum are known to be very docile and move pretty slowy. In fact I got information from an expert and he said that the Brachypelma Albopilosum is the best beginner species. I'm trying to do as much research so that I know how to care for a Tarantula.

  • @vaatithewindmage Brazilian Black Ts I hear are even better than a Rose Hair. But opinions vary. I recommend starting with a species that can handle dry climates first and branch out from there. my next find is a Green Bottle Blue. Gorgeous species. Blue legs, teal carapace, and orange abdomen. They're semi-docile and can handle temperature/humidity changes better than most South American Ts. But whatever you get, DO NOT get a king baboon!

  • @jla2358 I would't even think about getting the King Baboon, it's highly aggressive and very venomous. I was thinking of something more docile, I wouldn't want a G. Rosea because their famous for their mood swings, they can be giddy one moment and 30 seconds later, they get get pissed off enough to sythe their fangs deep in you. The Green Bottle Blue is a lovely species, best know for their talent in webbing, semi docile, thank you very much I'l add that to my choice list of docile Tarantulas.

  • @jcv4200 It may be nature but actually you should at least try and stop the female from eating the male, it's your job to protect your pets, don't listen to him at all he's wrong.

  • @jla2358 Actually your wrong, it may be nature but it's an owners job to take care of his pets and it is recommened to do so too. Thats what experts do here on Youtube from what I've seen.

  • Poor guy. Paid the high price for some booty. It's a dangerous game they play

  • did he died?

  • @Tornupto96 Yes. He died one day later.

  • @jcv4200 sorry that sucks...

  • i need a male. my feamles name is princess peach. : D

  • Man that sucks =( She didnt even give any warning she was going to strike either. Shame he passed. Good luck with future attempts dude.

  • @AdamC316 Thanks. The only indication she did give of not being mating receptive was her predatory approach toward the male.

  • @jcv4200 Was he drumming, that is the only way for a female to accept a males request for......well....you...know....sex.

  • @VaatiTheWindDemon In the video he is drumming.

  • @websuspect Thanks for telling me. I learned that during mating, a female is usually more interested in a snack than mating.

  • @jcv4200 Was the person mad that his tarantula died or was he like sad since i always ask that lol

  • that really sucks for the male :(, did he die?

  • @Fenhawk11 Yes the male died. He had a hole in the carapace. I actually had hope that he would live. He was walking around and kicking hairs at me when I was removing him from that enclosure. Died about 8 hours later

  • sorry about your T man, i gonna mate mine tonight, good luk on future attempts mate.

  • Good luck to you!

  • wow man, I've never seen a female go totally ballistic on him. I hope he survives man, all the best

  • I Need to know, is the male still alive

  • No, the male passed away the following morning. Check the male's update video text.

  • oh man that sucks, i hope he survives mate

  • OMG, its like tearing apart 2 dogs that are fighting with each other! I can't believe how persistent she was.

  • Wow, that was something. The video froze on me at the last minute of play. Did the male survive? She was fast to act when she lunged at him, wow.

    -Greg

  • The male is still alive. This happen no more than 20 minutes ago so I'm not sure how he will do. A blow to the carapace is never good, but he is still walking around as a normal tarantula would, minus a leg.
