then these air-headed locals (originally the "what-have-yous that i mentioned) just took in that "uppity" culture that the new neighbors brought with them; moving into town, due to the [CONTENTED SIGHHHH] natural beauty of the landscape [SIGHHH]...

Vancouver is like this place first settled by lumberjacks and what-have-yous and then by the 30s had a constant influx of homeless people coming all over from the east by train hopping on the canadian railway.

and by the mid 40s grew had significant number of well-to-do canadians (at least by canada's economic standards) moving in.
