No. Ali was smaller for this fight, but not by much. Foreman was one inch taller and 6 pounds heavier.
Charles Shufford, the boxer who played Foreman, is 6 foot 3 inches, an inch shorter than Foreman, but probably weighed more than Foreman did that night, he looks about 235 here and is like 250 now.
Either way it was Foreman's punching power and strength that had people worried, I love the scene in the movie where he's smashing up the heavy bag. Great movie.
Foreman was a little like Tyson; very densely muscled, and quite lean in his youth. It may well have been that he was actually much stronger than Ali pound for pound. We're not really talking 6 lbs. here, he has different musculatrure. But you're right, Foreman wasn't AWESOMELY bigger than Ali by any stretch of the imagination.

No. Ali was smaller for this fight, but not by much. Foreman was one inch taller and 6 pounds heavier.
Charles Shufford, the boxer who played Foreman, is 6 foot 3 inches, an inch shorter than Foreman, but probably weighed more than Foreman did that night, he looks about 235 here and is like 250 now.
Either way it was Foreman's punching power and strength that had people worried, I love the scene in the movie where he's smashing up the heavy bag. Great movie.

For the actual fight, Ali was 1 inch and 6 pounds SMALLER than Foreman.
For the movie fight, Smith looks about the same height but about 15-20 pounds lighter than Charles Shufford, who NOW weighs 250 pounds.
So Foreman was bigger, though not hugely; like I said it was his strength and punching power that had Ali fans worried.

Foreman was a little like Tyson; very densely muscled, and quite lean in his youth. It may well have been that he was actually much stronger than Ali pound for pound. We're not really talking 6 lbs. here, he has different musculatrure. But you're right, Foreman wasn't AWESOMELY bigger than Ali by any stretch of the imagination.

I just saw it. No wind-up, no momentum, no preparation he just DROPPED him at close range with 1! Fatigue may have played a part and also accuracy to a degree, but WOW, what about that for sheer power! Poor Moorer, I hope he recovered...

combat sport is one on one, team sports he can stop for a break hide behind team, foreman had power even until his 40's which shows how powerful a athlete he was a shot put pro may look different from gymnast but they still athletes with skill. Film doesn't do Ali any justice he pretty much dominated this fight, giving foreman several different flurries whenever he wanted in pretty much every round. He wad scoring higher than George anyway
