Interesting. The mentioning of the north Caspian region also brings into focus the competing efforts of others, such as Turkey which uses a Pan-Turkic idea as a carrot to gain influence in a number of ex-Soviet states for the purpose of leveraging its EU aspired stance as an energy alternative provider. I believe that Lukoil needs to expedite its efforts in becoming the most reliable and most substantial European energy provider by protecting market share and maximizing asset value.
