FYI, your pointers don't care about the spacing around the asterisk. When making a tutorial, it's good to be consistent and maybe a little less "down to the character" specific.
@cod4glitchfreak umm thats the free stuff u get with apple developers you can download I wonder when u build it under project is it listing your using like ios 4 latest or what ever when you trying simulate or something cause I think would work using that Xcode
@Ineedhelpwithappdev U could always try making soundboard app they show tutorials here on You Tube how do those its almost same for sound file and would play soundfile thing
@Ineedhelpwithappdev I have free version of Xcode for free developers the 3. thing like you have it will work for like sound board and thats like playing a sound file pretty much is
You are moving your cursor everytime away from the stuff we need to see and i can't find avfoundation. Thanks, you waisted 8 minutes of my life! Tutorial for playing sound in C#, VB, C++ in Windows: 10 sec. Tutorial for playing sound on a Mac: 8 min (480 seconds). Thats 48 time's longer. Apple sucks!
Can so plz tell me the difference of placing the * on the right or left side like these: NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"Beat" ofType:@"wav"]; AVAudioPlayer* theAudio=[[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL fileURLWithPath:path] error:NULL];
@STRATWOW There is none I don't think. You can do NSString*path, NSString* path or NSString *path. I have tried all of them and they all work. It doesn't seem to make a difference.
so if i have a menu with 250 buttons (let's say a tips menu) and I want the same sound every time the user touches any of the buttons, should I just connect the sound file to each of the 250 buttons or is there a way of gathering all 250 in one place and connected only once? How do i gather them all together for that? Thanks a lot!
@SimpleSDK What XCode are you using? I'm using 3.2.4 and when you did the mainwindow.xib inspector build thing class action, I didn't have that option. And also, how do I get sounds to play when my app opens?
When a click build and run ther's an error. It says "Code Sign error: The identity 'iPhone Developer' doesn't match any valid certificate/private key pair in the default keychain". What is that mean???
I get that warning that you mention in the last few seconds of your video because I'm using a view controller. What is the line of code to add to my appdelegate file? Because the sound won't run.
how can you make a stop button? I tried 2 actions, connect them to the two buttons, and changed [theAudio play] to [theAudio stop], but only the play button works? please help
SimpleSDK! Thanks, you're the greatest! How do I get in touch with you if I need apps developed? I really haven't had time to concentrate on my first app and have been trying, for months, to get multiple sounds to play & following your tutorial and duplicating your steps I was able to produce my multisoundapp! I hope to finish this weekend and post it at the app store! I would have figured it out on my own, but you saved me some time and around $3,000 that developers wanted to charge me!
Simple SDK, I tried this tutorial and it worked beautifully. Then I tried it again, but added an ImageView b4 the MainView for a background image. When I build and go - the buttons are not active in the Simulator. It's like there is something covering the buttons-they are not active. What 's happening here?
Thanks again for all of your great videos - I will definitely keep checking them out!
why do ppl fake tutorials...i mean whoever wrote this code should have talked rather than making this kid talk...and that pch pch noise that you make during explaining something sucks..
Thank you for this. Someone in a forum directed me here and it has helped out a lot. I've spent weeks trying to get my program to play sound and this finally made it work.
When I open the Daft Punk app, it comes up with the screen (cell?) where you can select the "Better, Faster, Stronger" tab. How do you add another tab to take you to another screen? For example, to add artist info or whatever.
then what would the code be because it gives me some errors...so i renamed "TheAudio" variable...and i dont know how to tell it to play the sound on the second button...please help!
I get this to build exactly the same as you but when I press the push button it just remains highlighted and no sound comes out. Could this be the sound file I am using. I have tried .mp3 .wav and .mp4 too but still the same
hey can you help me....i got an error when i made this app..when i tried building this app an error came up in the mainview.m file. the error states this.. error: 'theAudio' undeclared (first use in this function) do i need to declare this as a variable becaue my code is exact to yours and you didn't have to declare it...is there any reason that you know of or a solution to this problem??
this is a good video =) but can you make one that tells how to play a video, make multiple windows, and use the swipe action, please help, i need some guidence =)

@murdoch201 If you're a Windows fan then why are you here?
Besides, this if for making an iPhone app in Objective-C.
If you make a Mac app, you import it, then drag and drop it wherever you want, and that's it.

I actually had some problems with some Livetype.component and Divx 5.component located in the Library/Quicktime folder.
Apparently they mess up the compiling or something, so if anyone is experiencing the same trouble just trash them out and you're fine to go!
Nice video, keep them coming! cheers.
