  • The instrument that was hendrix forever altered electric music - and I thank you!. The fast fingered guys like satriani will sink into the abyss while jimi will in fact be played 100 years from now. His sould will live on.

Oh, and hey Joe (:)::), quick ending your sets with voodoo child ok, cause you definitely ain't worthy!

  • @blues12003

    Did you listen to this?

Joe is telling us how much he was influenced by Jimi!

    Jeezus.

    JMH #1

  • Jimi Hendrix big time druggy, good at playing though.

  • @Omagma0 he didnt start out that way. he was talented on his own but it was during the time of the 60's when everybody was doing it and he got caughtt up in it. it killed jimi janis moon jim morrison and etc to this day.

  • it's funny how everyone came here to talk shit about malmsteen, instead on just comment on satriani.

  • people who are calling Hendrix overrated need to go listen to Machine Gun at the fillmore east and other live performances then come back and see if you can dare say the same thing :)

  • @cerebralanomaly Amen to that !

  • Jimi Hendrix:

    Good Musician? Yes.

    Good Composer? Yes.

    Incredibly Overrated? Yes.

  • @NIMHFS

    FAIL.

  • @NIMHFS I agree

  • Not sure how I came across Malmsteen before this video, but now I can understand why a lot of folks think he is flat out ignorant. Jimi may not have been the greatest guitarist out there, but in his time he was damn good. He left us some great songs that STILL get played by numerous bands as tribute.

And now for this guy to show more respect. I'm going to check this Satriani fella out.

  • Interesting, how Joe said he started out on the drums. I did also and guitar came much later for me. As far as Yngwie stating hendrix was niose at Montere Pop fest. Hendrix made a statement that day and the impact on music and rock music culture has lasted to this very day. I view hendrix as i do Bethoven. He needed a bath and a makeover. hendrix might have needed some anger management. Especially during those days when people were saying Love not War. but we all have our quierks don't we.

  • u know that Jimi call Billy Gibbons his fav guitarist. Also, Satch named his first born ZZ!!! Nothing speaks louder than that regardless of how u want to paint it. Billy rules!

  • satriani has played on Deep Purple.

  • WTF is up with that hat ? It distracted me.

It looks like a homeless guy , or it could b his uncles hat from 1916. Or that guy from fat Albert. Heyba uba guys !

  • @Lvduggo69 he looks like Rumpelstiltskin with that hat on....

  • So if Jimi didnt die when he did, we probably wouldnt have Satriani as a musician?

  • @ac1013dc He might be playing for the Packers instead haha

  • 2:09 yeah, all moms think that way LOL

  • are you kidding joe satriani is one of the greatest guitarist of the world. How dare you bag on him like that. Not saying Jimi is bad though In fact I play the same way he does left handed but plays a righty.

  • Joe Satriani is perhaps the only "shredder" that deserves to be revered. He has an uncanny ability to create melodies and sounds without becoming tedious. He is a master of his craft. Otherwise, "shredding" is more or less guitar masturbation.

  • Wow, what a great guy!

  • I could sit down and listen to this guy all day!

  • @guitarguy316

Same here, Satch's music has been an influence in my life and i depend on it. His last album, by the way, is really good. The Golden Room, esp. Cheers,

  • Comment removed

  • He's definitely really likable and not self obsessed like certain other guitarists with his technical ability

  • Some rock stars these days are just junkies man...But I have mad respect for Satriani. He's got enough speed and all to keep up with guitarists now days and but he also respects his roots and knows where he came from. He's such a class guy.

  • The soul of Hendrix went to Joe!!!! Thanks God!!!

  • @TheMetalGuy852 I see no reason why anybody would not like hendrix. if you don't like hendrix, don't listen to, or talk about him. I watched the video and i agree, smashing a guitar tends to make a lot of "noise" and not music.Yngwie says nothing about hendrix's music, he only talks about him smashing his guitar and setting it on fire. Just let it go, our opinions are different because i respect music, and you judge it based on your flawed view of others opinions, and refuse to give it a chance.

  • Joe, I relate! My siblings, parents, your Hendrix relationship....so similar....I'm your age! Best to you, ZZ & Rubina

  • Wow, I can't believe some people will post the stuff they do. It sure shows their immaturity.

Hendrix was one-of-a-kind. Listen to the album, "Electric Ladyland" or any of his three studio albums, if you don't like his live soloing.

As for his live stuff, listen to "Machine Gun" from the Band of Gypsys album.

  • Too funny. This guy thinks that the worst time to live in New York City was Sometime after 1917. Apparently he doesn't know anything about New York's history. Typical Italian thinks the world starts when the Italians get there.

  • I fucking love that hat!

  • Everyone has a valid point in their argument, theres no right or wrong, only opinions, Jimi Hendrix is not the best, but who's to say who is? no one has the authority to say who's THE best, He was very influential to many different great artists, Just take the time to appreciate all music instead of criticizing it at every chance.

  • @TheMetalGuy852 wow......just appreciate music, jimi was famous because he wrote hundreds of songs, that are still listened to today. he has had more of an effect on music in his death, than any other musician in the world has had, and most spend decades writing music! jimi wrote songs for only about four years of his life, nobody has come close to his accomplishments, and the majority of musicians live to be over 60, jimi died when he was 27 have respect for all music.

  • @1xDRCx yeah wrote hundreds of songs that he couldnt get on the top 100 list, even after he was dead. not to mention the ones you hear the most are just covers he did (ie all along the watch tower...) not to mention his solos really are just NOISE. he was a great rhythm guitarist, thats about it, other than that he couldn't solo to save his life. and how about you check out bucketheads discography and special appearances, puts jimi to shame 10 times over if you want to talk about writing a lot

  • @TheMetalGuy852 i like buckethead too, but bashing other guitarists and talking about someone you think is better just disrespects both guitarists. my point was you can ask any musician today about hendrix, and at least 8/10 will say he's an inspiration to them. he wrote songs for himself, if you don't like them just don't listen to them or talk about them. If you think that what hendrix made is noise, you obviosly dont appreciate music, listening to classical doesn't change any of that.

  • @1xDRCx unfortunately his solos really are mostly noise, and i have an appreciation for music, not noise. so that doesn't change anything. Inspiration or not, i still personally don't think that he had any talent and the greater part of his music sucked. Being the First Black lead man in a rock band during the time when it was just becoming socially acceptable to be black doesn't make his music better either. Buckethead and Yngwie shit all over Hendrix, that's actually how he died.

  • @TheMetalGuy852 Everything is noise. you havn't shown any evidence that hendrix was a bad guitar player, and he wasn't the first black lead guitar player, theres chuck berry, muddy waters, and hundreds of others. as a kid yngwie saw on TV that hendrix had died, and that inspired him. buckethead was just about 1 when hendrix died of an OD of sleeping pills after he wrote a song called "The Story of Life" Really, your disrespecting ynwie and buckethead when you talk about music like that.

  • @TheMetalGuy852 hahahahahahahaahahahahaah must suck to be you. Btw hendrix was the shit and your not.

  • Jimi Hendrix was the greatest gitar player who ever lived. Almost every guitar player that came after him owes something to him whether it's how they play, the pedals they use, or how he paved the way for the technology we use on guitars. The technology today is a big factor on why guitarists are so technical and none of this was available when Hendrix was alive. He single-handedly changed the way people play guitar and his style changed rock music forever. He's the greatest of all time.

  • @TheMetalGuy852 Oh my, you can't feel music, you just listen -.-

  • @Wizarous i feel my ear drums bursting and bleeding out every time i hear a Hendrix solo......

  • @TheMetalGuy852 your lame... like someone commented earlier..your narrow mindedness is astounding...and dumber are your comebacks. anyways. get over yourself and start practicing more.... and for the record, You don't have a fraction of success on the guitar that jimi did..soo in reality...who's the better guitarist...still the dead guy.

  • What a dorky hat.

  • hendrix od'ed on standing up for love...

  • @DOwhoYOUare whit hippy bull

  • uf - he is very eloquent - great to listen to.

  • let's debate this..... what flavor ice cream do you like? great commentslolol

Hendrix is the best ever! just my opinion.

  • The moment you choose to believe that any guitarist is better than the other is the moment you choose to measure emotions with narrow concepts.

Absolutely bat shit. It's like trying to prove that your favorite color is better than someone else's favorite color.

  • @Willinthehall my favorit color is better than your favorite color

    HAH!

  • badass!

  • you can totally see the difference between Malmsteen and Satriani. Joe is this humble guy who can listen to other guitarists' work without becoming a whiny bitch. Yngwie is a fat, self involved douche

  • HENDRIX was GOD of guitar even superior man, i mean if you ask anybody about JESUS, or JEHOVA they will tell you yeah he is love .or maybe some black metal guy from europe. will tell you FUCK GOD, but NOBODY in the entire planet ever tell you, JIMMY HENDRIX sucks or it was BAD guitar player or i dont like it.. thats mean something man !!

  • i love jimi hendrix music his way was of playing still amaze's me and he new it when it was just the right pitch and feed back he was feeling it body and sole ya they he was one of the best ( rip ) jimi god bless

  • nice video....great words Joe...thank you for remembering the King of guitar.

  • I picked up the guitar cuz of the chilli peppers. then I started playing cuz of Paul gilbert. I haven't listened to a full Hendrix song. his style isn't my type.

  • hahaha satch playing football... after seing him stand next to chad smith (chickenfoot, red hot chili peppers drummer) i find that hard to believe hahaha

  • YAWN

  • first time i see him not wearing sunglasses

  • that guy is the man i woulda did the same thing!!!!!!!rip jimi hes alive!!!!!!!!

  • R.I.P. Jimi

  • i wish i had parents like he had.

  • is it just me, or does Joe always look kind of ill? i always though he looked like a guy who recieved kemo-therapy - a fantastic guy and player though!

  • @n1ll3r

be polite please he's a legend

  • i did not mean to sound offending. he just looks very pale

  • @n1ll3r

    he is lookin old..

  • he was sick during this interview, a cold i think

  • hes better dude.

  • Noone is better.

  • imo

  • i dont even kno why i said what i did it wasnt true and should have expected a comment like yours

great guitarists arent better or worse than each other they are different and it only depends on the listener they are all good at their own style and it just happens that hendrix is my style

  • @bubbah12345 man hendrix showed up everyone..not in technical ability but in songwriting and style..that dude had style man and its certainly still/today one of the most.. soulful, recognizable, and creative/interesting playing..known to date.....

  • @CommBreakDown i agree 100 percent just the feeling of his music keeps me listening

  • Lol, can't compare them. even a guitarist as talented as Hendrix today would have trouble being a career musician. it's a different era, nothing is ever going equal the massive cultural change of the 1960's.

  • sir...just cus you don't have some awesome reason to start playing.

shut the fuck up and play a cock.

  • That is a pair of Hendrix's old underwear he is wearing on his head.

  • @duncanstpt LOL

  • @duncanstpt

    LMFAO haha fucking funny guy

  • lol..I also had heard that somewhere.

  • @duncanstpt

    ahahhaa

  • I think we should have a whip-round to buy him a new hat.

  • On the Live in SF DVD Satch talks about how Hendrix totally influenced him stylistically and technique-wise. And because of that, he deliberately avoided playing anything that resembled Jimi, and so you will not hear any hendrix riffs per se on his originals - but listening to Satch you will get that he plays with feeling and has an inate sense of melody and a great imagination - just like Jimi.

  • "I was really just, a fan...' '...he thought i was into this Hendrix guy, and that i should know' (that JH just died.) So, let me get this straight: JS wasn't REALLY, REALLY into jh's music, where as it sounds, he already heard jh, but didn't get heavily into the guitar until the day jh died--could you describe that as 'jh's music didnt really inspire me (blasphemy!!!) but his image did more for JS. However, Yngwie is also inspired in a fleeting moment by jh's image of him burning a guitar....

  • ...and smashing it, but didn't even hear jh's music until much later, after he pretty much fully learned to play the guitar well, and YNGWIE is the asshole?! Yngwie can be guilty of one thing ONLY, in his LLM videos: poor enunciation 'cause of his Swedish accent. BUT he didn't state anything about jh any more harshly than JS just did here. So, to the Yng-haters: shove your "Yng's an asshole' opinions, and misinterpreted belief that he said 'Jimi's just noise, and not music.'

  • '...my daddy was a really smart guy...' BRAAAGGING?!.....

  • The majority of Hendrix's critics will never understand the immense impact he had on guitar/ music back then because they didn't experience first it hand. Will never get it. Damn near everyone who heard the "Are You Experienced" album for the first time in 1967 can tell you how fresh it was. Never heard nothing like it before. Sounded like something from another dimension, Martian music or some shit.

  • @DONDIVA1969 got it right my friend...you rock!

  • @DONDIVA1969 hendrix has critics????? lol :D

  • @EMGlespaulMESA - I know it hard to believe but the most famous one played guitar for Van Hagar.

  • Sorry but I dont believe that Satch played football, he is scrony

  • totally amazing, hendrix left everyone depressed because of his guitar palying ability...

  • I really enjoy everything Joe Satriani

  • sorry i like jimi hendrix more than joe satriani

    no offense

  • I dedicated my life to guitar after the death of Randy Rhoads.

  • Thats great..Jimi would be proud!

  • that's one of the greatest effects/tributes i've ever heard. that when jimi passed, someone stopped everything and said,"THIS is what i'm going to do...."

    awesome.

wouldn't matter if he turned out successful or not....it's just great.

    props and respect, JS.

  • Yngwie, too?

  • Michael Jeffries had Jimi killed for the insurance money...the guy that did it confessed

  • They say MJ was a CIA and ex-military operative, hired to worm his way into the position of managing JH, to keep an eye on him, and attempt to make him fail. Later died in a suspicious plane crash or explosion over the sea.

  • Well done to Joe for his comments about Jimi being the best.

Brilliant guitarist himself, he takes the time to pay homage to someone who has influenced him, as well as countless others, not to mention changing how people played rock guitar.

    Respect Joe..JMH #1

  • Really? i missed that part, where he said 'hendrix is the best.'

  • Sorry, I thought that phrases like -

'I was rocked by the death of Hendrix and...was on my way to playing drums,

and on the day that Hendrix died...

Some other teamate came up and said some guy called Jimi Hendrix died. I quit the football team ..then and there....

Might have indicated how much Joe rates Jimi!

    Respect to Joe

    James Marshall No. 1

  • maybe, but up to that point he was 'just a fan.?' Joe was already how old at that time, heard Jimi already, and had that time to nurture influence, but didn't? My opinion is he also, like Yngwie (yes they started playing the same day!) was more affected by Jimi's image and the atmosphere of the times, and an icon of those times suddenly being gone, than he was by Jimi's actual music. Good comment from you though.

  • JS was already what, 12 yrs old, when Jimi died?

  • JS was 14 when he started playing guitar, just Googled his birthday, doesn't sound like a whole lot of musical inspiration by Jimi was going on in JS's head and in his blood up to Jimi's death, he musta heard JH at some point prior. Yngwie started at age 7 and hadn't heard JH at all, but both started on the same day.

  • yea but he stared playing drums first around that time

  • yup, i realize. My bone to pick tho, is i've seen YT users on YM's interview get mad 'cause he said rather openly and plainly that JH didn't influence him musically, and JS says the very same thing here in different words. JH's DEATH inspired JS to play, but not his music (which it's sure he already heard, and which he had YEARS to pick up the guitar, but didn't 'cause the musical influence wasn't there, that's all i'm saying. Peaceout.

  • @screaminone SHUT THE FUCK UP PLEASE. YOU SOUND LIKE A LIL BITCH. SERIOUSLY YOU MAKE NO SENSE. YOUR COMMENTS ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE. STOP SMOKING METH WITH YOUR MOM AND JUST KILL YOURSELF WHILE LISTING TO DIMEBAG DARRELL

  • @doox420: Well, at least you said please, but while we're here now shithead, did you happen to see how old my comments were and the last time i commented? You know what the fuck a conversation is? And from the way certain Yngwie haters jump to a Joe Satriani video and fill him with praise just 'cause he's a nice guy (which he is,) my comments make PERFECT sense. Sure you won't piss off some Dime fans too, as he wrote incredible and memorable riffs and solos (and was a nice guy.) Got it? Now GFY.

  • @doox420: Your channel description, in part: "...learn from the coyote..." and stupid shit like that, and IM smoking meth?! bwhahahhahahhahahhaahhaahahaahahahaaaa!

  • @screaminone Your whole narrow minded trip is that baroque vivaldi inspired vampire neo-classical metal. lighten up, literally, smoke weed take some shrooms open your mind. dont be some conservative middle american republican gear head goon like ted nugent. the west coast and east coast are the real america. the mid west and south arent hip.

  • @doox420: Pantera, Iron Maiden, ACDC---narrow minded to neo-classical metal? Conservative republican? Nonsense and contradictions to the very little you think you know about me, and i sure as hell was not here for a political discussion, though i'm aware of many things. Now go away, i'm not wasting anymore time with you. Thanks!

  • Cheers screamione,

JS wasn't just a fan, he idolised Jimi.

    So does Yngwie.

I'm a major Jimi fan but realise that not everyone else is

    Peace

  • back at ya pwatp. I give you that JS idolised JH, and also that I ought to simply ignore more of the Yngwie-haters shallow, baseless insults and poor comprehension skills, but my contention is: at what point did JS fully idolise JH? I'll assume he heard JH for the 5 or so yrs of JH's career, and never bothered to pick up the guitar until JH died. A 7yr old Yngwie, on the other hand never even HEARD of or seen the guy, and yet was inspired in literally an instant to want to play guitar...

  • ...measure that against all the insults flung at Yngwie, for even saying he wasnt musicaly influenced (in his younger years learning gtr and quite possibly not even 'til after he broke out here in the states,) and see how hypocritical they appear for not railing on JS for basicaly saying the same thing, that he wasnt influenced musicaly by JH. Truthfuly does JSs music sound anything at all like it was influenced by JH? Absolutely not, worlds apart. But still haters regard Yng as ass/JSas niceguy

  • i can hear some of jimis music in satchs. Very hard to find though

  • mmyeah, more or less my point, you might find only a crumb or morsel of JH's style in JS's, and probly not even on every other album. Thumbs up @ya.

  • Listen to J.S in Chickenfoot and I think you'l find alot of Jimi in his playing. When you idolize a played, you emulate him until you get to the point where you "make it yours'. Many guitarists never do ... the great ones listen, learn and create. All musicians "steal"...if you hear something that gets you in your heart and soul...you use it.....it's all about feel.

  • good comment. and i realise that not everyone is (or is going to be) an Yngwie fan. Some of the blatant stupidity spouted on these threads deserve a little reaction though, if not for anything else than my own entertainment. Hey, i can't let others have all the fun! Some of the back'n'forth here on YT is hilarious if not disgusting and boring. :)

  • I have 5 hats like his.. isn't that interesting..

  • Hendrix didn't OD ....HE was murdered by his manager

  • He asphyxiated on his own vomit...

  • its just a theory init? I dunno what to belive myself i just read it in a classic rock magazine :P

  • I too remember the day in 1970 when I came home and saw the newspaper laying on the step and there was this small article on the front page announcing the death of Jimi Hendrix. I was crushed by this horrible news, but life must go on and Jimi`s music is still very much alive today.

  • jimi hendrix was my favorite guitarist of ALL TIME he got me into playing guitar and i just think he is amazing if it werent 4 hendrix JUST THINK of how many guitarist would not be around 2day if it werent for hendrix

  • oh yes jimmy is my friend for ever

  • Scarily enough too after what sach said here, countless more great guitarists inspired by joe wouldnt exist today without jimi's death......

  • ya jimmi is still the best guitar player

  • @runingblackbear no...you're wrong...he was the best then and to day that he died. later, he is not the best dude...joe satriani is better than hendrix ever was...and jason becker and shawn lane are/were/will be the most perfect guitar players ever.

  • @jimmyleppard6 yeah jason becker dude. inspiration. Paralized and still playing

  • @jimmyleppard6

    you gotta be kidding right?

If jimi would return from heaven he would be still the best

No offense man, i like joe hes one of my favorites and all these guitarplayers are really masters but jimi is a force of nature or something

  • @StealAwayTheN1ght and why is that? because he was the first man who played guitar a little different than the other guitar players at that time? or because he was black? i can't understand you guys. What hendrix can do and joe satriani, steve vai, jason becker, marty friedman or stevie ray vaughn can't?

  • @jimmyleppard6

I understand your point and i was thinking the same think few years ago. But it's like i said he's some force of nature, i was like phuh jimi hendrix but then i discover more of his playing en songs cause i only knew 1 riff of his. Listen to little wing, that woodstock improvisation 69', and some solos of his. and also i was like laying in my bed like at 3 a clock in the morning and i was listening to jimi and god i was stunned so yeah+he can play with his teeth, Isnt that great

  • @StealAwayTheN1ght Yea. I listened to a lot of hendrix to and I respect hendrix. He is a big influence to almost every guitarist and he made a few good songs but I just want people to realize that he is history. He made himself a place in the stars but I hate when people think that he is the top of the world and that there is no upper level in guitar playing.

  • @jimmyleppard6 i just want to say this and ask you this maaan!!! first...he's never history because in every damn guitar out there or since....you can hear his licks even in heavy metal if you pay close attention "maaan" that shit is his vocabulary!!! just deal with it!! i know it's hard to accept because he is black and this is second.....name any m-----f----r out there who can produce the sounds he did without all this technology shit?

  • @jimidre71 I have no problem that he is black..i am no racist.. and of course no one can produce his sound cause he played on a right handed guitar that was re-strunged backwards because he was left handed guitar player. And as I said, i respect hendrix but dude, you can tell anything you want but you can't tell me that he is still the best alongside Jason Becker, Shawn Lane, Rusty Cooley, Paul Gilbert or Joe Satriani..Hendrix wasn't Beckers or Rusty's or Shawn's influence and they are the best.

  • @jimmyleppard6 you just showed how stupid you are. 'no one can reproduce his sound because he played a right handed guitar strung backwards.' excepttttttttt, you can take a regular fender buy a left handed headstock and bam, right handed guitar exactly like hendrix. hendrix was the greatest. there is a reason he is considered the best by the best. satriani has literally nothing on hendrix. nothing.

  • @lukeee89 ok my friden. If I am so stupid, then tell me 5 reasons, just 5 why hendrix is the best. And I don't buy the shit that his guitar playing was way before his time cause 99% of instrumental guitarists like satch's, vai's or becker's guitar playing was way before their time. Now, I want 5 reasons why hendrix is the best. 5 things that he has and none of the other guitarists have.

  • @jimmyleppard6 it doesn't work like that. it's all about influence. hendrix was the reason so many other people picked up the guitar. there is a reason all the best in the world respect him and say he's the best. it's not cause it's cool to say hendrix. everyone wants to say something different, but you have to give credit where it's due. it doesn't matter what i say, you won't think hes the greatest. but i guess that doesn't matter, since on my side i have the rest of the world

  • @lukeee89 Hendrix wasn't an influence to all greatest guitarists. get that? Hendrix isn't my influence either. and about your last sentence - not exactly.

I respect hendrix and It's correct that many guitarists picked up their guitar cause of hendrix BUT how accurately can you tell that they wouldn't pick it up if there wasn't for hendrix? maybe they would and also became this good. anyway, hendrix deserves some credit but the credit that he is the best...well motherfucker I'm not buying that.

  • @jimmyleppard6 good for you then buddy. yeah we've all got it wrong. you didn't pick up your guitar cause of hendrix? shit.. well then it can't be true. i guess rolling stone forgot to consider the great jimmyleppard6's opinion. oh yeah and every other magazine out there. shit..

  • @jimmyleppard6 ah you're just a hater, all of the greatest guitarist that have and will ever live call him the greatest. Something they'll never call you. You'll never be recognized, you always be a guitar dreamer. :-)

  • @ScumbagJack some of the best guitarists call him the best but that doesn't have to be true. you just don't accept the fact that he is zero compared to today's guitarists. he was the best 50 years ago but 60's and 70's has gone away man. he was the best blues guitarist then and that's it. he never heard about neo classical metal, jazz or country. he can't go beyond blues. that makes him worse than jason becker and shawn lane who could play any type of music and with tons of feeling.

  • @jimmyleppard6 See, I told you, you were a hater. That is just your own uninformed, unskilled opinion, not the opinion of the world of guitarists.

  • @ScumbagJack dude, I'm a guitarist myself, has been for 4 years now. I listened to a lot of guitarists for the past 6 years or so and I also listened to a lot of hendrix. As you probably don't know, there is no best guitar player in the world cause music is not a competiton and you can't compare guitarists. what gives you the right to say that hendrix is the best? what song of hendrix can you tell me that can overcome the feeling and emotions of jason becker's song called altitudes for example?

  • @jimmyleppard6 your right with the guitarist part mate. Some people dont understand personal differences and common respect towards what people listen.

  • @jimmyleppard6 a lot of songs..... if you don't have the enough musical level then i bet you can't understand the feeling in little wing, purple haze, hey joe, etc.... you'r just an idiot. You can't just say wich songs have or not feeling, cause the feeling is for the artist only, not for you. This is a video in honor to hendrix and you came here just to say he is not the best, he have no feeling.... wath kind of asshole do that...???? wath's wrong with you??????

  • @jimmyleppard6 you don't understand the meaning of jimi's work. it is because his work than he is the best guitarist ever. "Zero compared to today's guitarists"?????? see?? you just don't know. you don't have the heart of a real guitarist, saying such things.

  • @Aztlnight i played guitar for halff my life. Im a huge Hendrix fan. But you cant put it up like you do, since you do. I can easily tell you names on guitarists who outplay any dude from back then. But thats not what its about at all. Music is about personal taste. Yes we have particular artist who inspired people back then. Joe satriani has been an inspiration to me and my will to play guitars since the mid ninthies, just like Hendrix indspired Satriani. I like metal, some dont. Its my thing

  • @TheMrNotes most important than personal taste, you must respect the work and the musical level. You like metal, ok, but i like all kind of music, if it have a good level. That guy says "jimi hendrix is zero compared to today's guitarists"..... that's just stupid. STUPID. you can't change it, god can't change it, nobody can.

  • @Aztlnight yes he made a shitty comment. Jimmy hendrix was some of the stuff i learned the first 5 years of my guitar educating. None the less its important to the music scene that he was there, very important. rock music would not be the same withouth his blues influence on the scene. Its on a level of legendary music, but not at the technical top. He is a legend along many others. But he is not the guitar master compared to the present artists. He might be one of the greatest composers though

  • @ScumbagJack ynwie malmsteen wont because he didnt like him he thought there was no music just noise

  • @chriscleary24 I just watched that too. What an unbelievable prick he is, disrespecting someone like Hendrix... Fair enough to not like it, but to say that it's not music shows incredible arrogance.

  • @EtcEtcAndEtc

Malmsteen was overrated in his prime and continues to show why.

  • @EtcEtcAndEtc calm down man i just saw that video and i guess a lot of people didn't understand what he meant. He didn't say the music was not good. When he said "it was not music, it was noise" he was talking about the moment Jimi was burning and smashing his guitar. He was influenced by his attitude and way of being which he passed through his music. It's a big respect to Hendrix. How can he not respect him if he does covers of him live? It's a big deal for a guitarist to cover someone else.

  • @EtcEtcAndEtc

Yngwie was talking about the burning guitar that Jimi had bash the shit out of not his songs. Pay attention!

  • @chriscleary24 Geee, did you watch the Malmsteen clip "I never played Hendrix"? Yeah, he was 5 when he saw the Monterey Pop clip, of course he learned and gained much respect for Hendrix, if you saw a 10 sec clip at 5 yrs old of Hendrix burning his strat at the Monterey Pop Festival you would think it was just noise too

  • @ScumbagJack neither Page or Blackmore called Hendrix the greatest, in fact, Blackmore said Hendrix was never that good.

  • @MysterioFan02 And Blackmore is a moron. Blackmore is incredibly overrated.

  • @MysterioFan02

I've never heard Blackmore speak negatively of Hendrix. It wouldn't surprise me if he had, because I've read interviews with him where he's shit on the playing of everyone from Clapton to Srv to EVH. Yet I personally have never read or heard him put down Hendrix. I did however, read an interview where he said Hendrix "Must have had an incredible mind because he never ran out of ideas. He never repeated himself."

  • @67goldtops In that same interview Blackmore said Hendrix was never that good, but he enjoyed the way he did everything else. He did mock SRV, Pete Townshend, Malmsteen, BB King, Clapton and a few others I can't remember. The only one he didn't say shit about was Page, and he thought EVH was innovative, as I recall.

  • @MysterioFan02

Yeah, I've definitely read interviews where he has shit on Yngwie. I recall one where he did take some shots at EVD though. He mentioned tapping and said something like, "Oh, thank god it's gone away," regarding the technique. He went on to mention Ed's keyboard playing and how that excited him more than his guitar playing. He went on to say the EVH could "be the next Thelonious Monk," but that he never cared much for his guitar playing. It's silly, all of the trash talking...

  • @67goldtops Yeah, it's silly but I laughed a bit at stuff he said about other guitarists. Maybe he's like that because he never got the credit he deserved, or maybe he's just weird, who knows. Gotta love his guitar playing, though.

  • @MysterioFan02

I think we all know Ritchie's a bit bonkers.

Purple were one of my big bands in the early 70's - Zep, Sabbath etc also.

It's well documented that he went onto Strats because of Jimi though.

  • @67goldtops Found the interview! These are his exact words: " I was impressed by Hendrix. Not so much by his playing, as his attitude - he wasn't a great player, but everything else about him was brilliant. Even the way he walked was amazing. His guitar playing, though, was always a little bit weird."
