Hey guys, i live in Costa Rica about 40 minutes from this break. the break is called Boca Barranca and it gets really, really, good. This wave was one of the more terrible days I've seen at Barranca to be honest. In fact i have seen it perfect with barelly sections at double overhead plus. That's when it get's fun. But Pavones takes the cake over this wave though its about 6 hours south. I feel so lucky to live here and i enjoy surf everyday. Happy surfing!
sounds like you guys were prepared! you know there's websites that tell you how the surf is going to be. why would you leave Hermosa to surf there when it's running 2-3 feet. Actually scratch that. I love when i'm down there and score a sicky peak to myself cos all the yankees are driving around all over the place. I know the ticos love it too. too bad know body told you. it's only a 3/4 mile ride, on a sizable south, sw swell. like over 6 feet. Good on ya though mate. you got it wired bro!
It is tradition...one of favoirte spots no matter if it going off or not...something about a long left for a goofy footer... no doubt hermosa is the place. Cuaght this break once at 6 feet
We used to ctach it in the mid 90's when no knew much about it and were run off by the dark water. Only caught a couple times that big... one of our favorites

polluted at times.. I think pavones is a much cleaner wave with MUCH cleaner water.

@actumaequos it gets strong with a swell of 6 feet+ which happens almost always in rainy season although it gets really dirty.

Back in the 90's I was lucky enough to catch it on a day when it was 8' - 10'. (It is such a magical place)
