I tried this and nothing happened. The default Apache page was no longer accessible, and neither was my index.html or php page. I must have missed a step.
I use WinCSP all the time, once the main install configuration has been setup and everythings working on and ya see the shell (I never ever install the GUI, just clashes with soo many of my server applications) also increases response times dramatically, more like a professional server in that way and use WinCSP and Putty to issue commands and change config files, makes it really easy to do Linux tasks when browsing the web for solutions to problems!
Yes it is. However you need linux installed on a computer and make it as your server. After that with your other computer download winscp then you have to log in with an ip address, username and password.
You can ssh/telnet in from windows using a client such as putty. If your using XP it will have a telnet client built in. M-Net does great free shells... as do I :)
You must enable Telnet on a Linux Server, well you do on my distro, which is Fedora 9, but putty making sure you download the one with SSH (secure shell), with the root account (access to all services through the root account group), if you wanted to login using a standard user account however you have to add the user to the SSH which i believe to be SSHD but dont quote me on that.
Be careful enabling telnet server! It's VERY unsecure. You're going to want to use SSHD which is Secure SHell server. You can use any user with an enabled account and shell to login with ssh
ah yea I know that sorry was just explaining it for a previous comment on here its cool thanks, if you where to use it, isnt it best to use a restricted access account using telnet? Just wondered that, thanks Jez

When you say virtual host, that basicly means you are making a server with a different IP address on the computer that you are using hey.
