  • WOW! WHAT A FIND :)

  • Wow.. All ive ever herd of Numans was that damn cars song.. never knew his music was this dark.. and I fuckin love it.

  • Numan Rules! love the video!!!

  • it doesn't matter WHAT mood I'm in, I can always listen to Gary :3

  • I typed in dark place and just found this..

    Oh my god..its amazing

  • Gary Numan's voice is the soundtrack to my own thoughts; especially during those dark moments when I contemplate my fate. "Dark" is the song that probably rules with its hypnotic rhythm; but truthfully speaking; I can certainly find something that I can relish in most every song he does; , as most of those who follow his music. Of all my favorite artists; I wish Gary a long and creative life and happiness with his Lady.

  • Sometimes I pull out for you, and sometimes I'm a freak

  • I love reading these comments, nothing like a bit of numan to get a good debate going.personally i like this track, but what do i know, sod all really ,musically. But i do know what i like .And isnt that the point .

  • @leonakita you're better then that, just walk away. NUMAN 4EVER!!!!

  • Golliwogg APPROVES of this song.

  • "sometimes I pull out for you" Wtf?

  • Never thought I'd like dark wave, but this song is eargasmic.

  • The godfather of synth!

  • screams out bowie! but its numan! LOVE IT!

  • Good to see Gary has finally ditched that stupid jazz funk shite.

  • @StretchDouche what?.. this is pure garbage....mentally disturbing gyrating crap tied to one hook !... when i was 2 years old in a crib i made music like this it went ' GOO GOO GAH GAH' hahahahaha

  • @leonakita

I am the great cornholio!! Bring me tp for my bunghole!!

  • @StretchDouche thats nice....wtf does that have to do with anything?...go die now!

  • @leonakita

Are you threatening me? COME OUT WITH YOUR PANTS DOWN! Do not make my bunghole angry!!

  • @StretchDouche ewwwwwwww, you're a polesmoker arent you?...I should have expected as much...prob 90% of numanoids are!

  • @leonakita

This must be some kind of gangsta rap lol. David Bowie?

  • @StretchDouche really?

  • @saganemc2

    I dunno. Trolls everywhere.

  • Love it!

  • LOL I guess Gary didn't get the memo that it's not popular or politically correct to ask these kinds of questions. Bless him! <3

  • Numan rocks x

  • wow awesome alternative DARK WAVE i can see how the world is going stir crazy for dark, mysterious, DARK WAVE, dark music, we are all fed up with commercial tunes, so darker better

  • I love YOU Gary Webb!!!

    mxxy

  • excellent

  • Numan The Legend!

  • Numan is the shit!!!

  • bin a fan since the beginning of time.iAwesome.U will only realize that new music was created by Numan when u hear all the samples of his music everyone uses!

  • @wiz29superbikes

    oh? what songs?

  • i meant "though" my english sucks

  • Numan is awesome, simple as that what else is there left to say?He just makes fucking brilliant music with loads of energy and grind.

  • ..Numan never really got the praise he deserved because he was seen as ripping off David Bowie, even though his sound was very different to Bowie's.

  • Sometimes I pull out for you

    And sometimes

    I'm

    a freak

  • Very powerful song, sends gosse bumps in my spin.

  • Dark Pop?! This is pure Gothic music like The Cure or Bahaus! NOT emo, but Gothic!

  • epic

  • Sounds like Numan, who influenced Trent Reznor, has been influenced by Reznor as well. I can't complain either way!

  • LEGEND!!!!

  • He played this at the enmore and no one i went with knew it , i have been looking for the song ever since freaking amazing!

  • The chorus is simply brilliant, but then the song is ruined by that gap after the massive height reached by the chorus..and an extremely slow bit around 2.15! I went for the album after I heard this, but then all the songs on Jagged are all ruined by this same style... some great choruses and production in there, but some intros are way.. WAYYY.. too long ..and all those gaps in the middle of the tracks. Would have loved the whole cd to be more upbeat. Looking forward to the new album now

  • He is the proper trinity! dark - very dark - met him twice - luvvly fella - concorde 2 brighton - 29/7 - small n personal its gonna kick fkin arse!

  • i cant stand the guitarists goofy dances... but i love Numan!

  • Great tune lotsa truth

  • I adore him and tubeway Army. But I'm sorry .His compositional style seems to have taken on some nin rythms and guitar wityhout NEW HARMONIES or NEW CHORD changes. He hasn't changed at all.Darker sound.I would have hoped he had lightened up found some joy. This is sterile and derivative .I'm a musician I recognize the framework.Effects do not make music new.He needs to study Bach, gubaidulina,Boulez.Unimpressive !

  • @lovesGenet He influenced Trent Reznor. So really anything after sacrifice (1994) is more the other way around. NiN sounds like Numan... as Trent has stated before that he was heavily influenced by Gary Numan.

  • @lovesGenet Hahaha Mr Funny... He is the father of NIN and his talent can not be understood by mere commoners or "over talented musicians" like... "you".

Go back to your lonely chamber and play for yourself

  • @Tigreloaded 'Go back to your lonely chamber and play for yourself' That line belongs in a song.

  • @SPFXsynthesisers Really? I never tough so... what a "coincidense"

  • @Tigreloaded Sorry I cannot understand what you mean,'I never tough so.....'

  • The fall is a million times better, haunted would have been a much better single grrrr!!!

The curse of Numan choosing bad tracks as singles strikes again

  • maybe u should listen to something else

  • Great single, cant wait for The Fall to be released.

  • ITS ALL TO DARK

  • its all so wonderfully dark

  • Yes this is AWESOME

  • this more like it.

  • pufff buenisisimo i love gary numan!!!!!

  • epic!!! 5*

  • I really love Gary Numan´s music. Greetings from Sweden :)

  • then you have great taste in music!

  • his vocals help me feel better when i am down.

  • Agree 100%

  • Comment removed

  • lol - only messin' - he is amazing!!

  • This man is just amazing.

    He has kept me sain.

  • Oh no!

    What a fucking shame.

  • I LOVE YOU Gary Numan 4 EVER !!!!

  • Numan. British legend and about time people recognised the guys talent, dark pop at it's best.

Numan song. Chorus. it's always something amazing!

  • I wouldn't say it's "Dark Pop", I think Dark Wave is the term.

    NUMAN 4 EVA!!!!!!!!!!

  • @guywholikesvids yeah, Dark Wave, dark electronic, both describe Numans newer music

  • @diesonneuk It's dark dirge and he has being recognised for his earlier work but IDAP is an exceptionaly poor song as is the album it came from. Numan used to produce eerie electro pop that caught the publics imagination now he's lazy and makes awful demos that even his producer cannot finish properly.

  • @diesonneuk Dark Pop?! This is pure Gothic music like The Cure or Bahaus! NOT emo, but Gothic!

  • @Lestat1898

lol but the cure is so pop!

  • @theabcsofstds The cure is definately not pop. No matter what you think. I think you need to listen and look at them again.

  • @TheBMTHfreak cure sucks

  • @Riac007 To you maybe, I happen to love them

  • @Lestat1898

How in the fuck did this mong get top comment?

  • @EnDZYm3 Did you take your medication today?

  • @Lestat1898

    Not yet.

  • Did he film this in his garden? Cheapest video ever! haha

    Great song tho :)

  • I love how Numan's music draws you in~it's so hypnotic and addicting!

  • Fantastic music by the greatest British vocalist!!!

  • ok,ok lets say no'ones right or no'ones wrong on this one.i do have a lot of respect for gary numan and his music.

  • well as i have recently heard he based his pure album around them. after hearing their first two albums. and loving their heavy metal/industrial sound. i'll give you the white rap, but i still stick to my guns!

  • thats bollocks, numans Pure album came out in the same year as hyrbid theory. i personally love linkin park but i doubt numan based any of his music from theirs!!!

  • Are you serious, stinkin linkin park.Numan been doing this since 1977.Gary Numan doesn't do the "White Rap BS".

  • You´re comparing two differents type of music

  • I'm Not a Big Fan of Numan's Dark Wave, Punk Work But This is one of the few tracks that appeals to me and shows an element of his old work (Replicas, Pleasure Principle etc.)

    x

  • Very dark and haunting beat

  • ɹǝʌǝɹoɟ spıouɐɯnu

  • I much prefer the 'Jagged Edge' version, or versions, since there are two versions on that album.

  • To be pulled in a whirlwind of thought and returning to the base that there could be no creator was alot of energy wasted going no where only to come back to the premiss of that which moved both of you to wonder about the thought to begin with. a concept that is also a misconcept at the same time.

    Intersting.

I like roller coasters too, but maybe this is more foreplay with the two of you. lol

  • HI IS GOD

  • Jagged is an awesome album.

  • This is off Jagged...I think this new work of his is awesome

  • Great song just hard to listen to. At my friends funeral they played this as they were taking him in. Think he was looking down smiling, i no i was. Numan rules.

  • was he a numan fan?

  • yes he was a big fan from beginning, we both used to go to all gigs together. He passed in 2006. Even the priest gave a mention to Numan. Been following Numan since 79. He had his autograph tattoed on his arm, mine is on my back, signed by gary himself. going to liverpool on 24th April. Numan is God!!!!

  • *Garygasm!* brilliance!

  • this is friggen chawesome

  • yes lovehoney shut up and enjoy

  • erie video. i think that he went in right direction with his music. the music he makes now mirrors his past present and possibly future too. him and gothic music seem to go well togther. so do his songs they seem to fit togther. just like that.

  • Oh shut up and enjoy!

  • amen

  • i love the moodiness of this song. it sort of grabs you. can,t wait for his album next year. all hail gary numan!

  • Love this song. Loved Jagged as an album, I love that he is still making brilliant music. Even if he is going in a slightly different direction.

  • it's not really that different if you think about it.

  • Consciously or unconsciously, this is pro-wanting-God - even if he's afraid there is none...

  • gary is an atheist, he is singing about god, doesnt mean he believes god is real. hes just being clever and ironic.

he sings about rape machine chasing humans, and going to work by proxy and going to sleep by dialing 0, doesnt necessarily mean he thinks its real.

"If he didn't really believe God existed why all the songs about him?"- what a stupid thing to say?

  • The way I understand his lyrics, I think he's saying that he's not even sure if god exists or not and this is something he struggles with.

  • yes in this particular song, cos he says "am i afraid of the truth. am i a fool in the dark and so forth". But if you hear songs like A prayer for the unborn he seems to be directly saying that god isnt there for him.

  • Gary Numan is actually a devout atheist.

In this song he is questioning God. See his song Melt, which contains more of the same subject matter.

  • crap. CRAP.

    He's become so much cooler.

    Just might bring back darkwave...

  • we all have a reason to hate God I just I wish I could do with the talent Numan has.

  • Nice! I had no idea Numan was still making music.

  • Where have you been!!! Check out Exile and Pure for what youve missed!

  • It's a good song

i would prefer Haunted, Blind or Slave as a single though

Don't be surprised in years to come if people have a critical re-evaluation of Numan, what he has done, the fact he has kept going and that he makes music he wants to make.

This is why I respect the guy, buy the albums and go and see him live

  • The irony of all this new high quality material Numan has been producing over the last year or two is that if he were a 20 year old, the press would be saying what a big future he's got ahead of him.

  • Yes thelonelyhunter, the fickle, rubbish, blind and foolish paper music press, no wonder their power has declined so spectacularly

  • wow, this is awesome! i didn't even know he was still going, that's fucking brilliant!

  • And sometines to be mature you sometimes have to be childish but not all the time though

  • I don't like ''religion'' Christianity to me is a personal relationship with God, I don't like the word Religion. Btw great song & video, haunting & beautiful.

  • What on earth does God have to do with religion? Religion is about power, God, if it exists, is about love.

  • Oh, what happened to you, dear?

    -wanders back to Replicas-

  • He got a harder edge, that's what happened. You enjoy your cheesy 80's synthpop though kk.

  • hey, hey. I shall, and you enjoy your goth.

But, at least, we both must agree it's quite the transition to go through, no?

  • @MesoAsian

That was uncalled for. 80's synthpop is not cheesy but the idea of being civil is too grand for your simple mind I see. How about everyone just enjoy the music? It's so hard to watch a video these days without someone bashing some genre or something.

Pure and Jagged were great. This era needs more talent like Numan.

  • well said

  • Absolutly Brilliant, video and song

  • Okay, when in this video was he crawling?

The closest he got to crawling that I saw was squatting...

    And as for the "bashing"

I'd say that you're doing just as much as anyone else, religious or not

It's okay for you to bash people, because you're doing it in the name of God, though? Is that right?

I thought that Christianity promoted tolerance and understanding?

  • 990racle ah go show the bible up your ass, love the way religons and the "loving relgious" show their ture colours, now you religous woman burning war mongering shithead go and shove a crucifix up your arse

  • Your immature for a 41 year old.

  • and your such a twat for a 21 year old

  • how do you figure that one?

  • So I am right then PatrickIngham21, by your own cryptic statement? anyway, you know my life story or a lot of the life stories of those who love what Gary say's about God? the way a lot of the "loving religous" truly behave, the contradictions of the Bible itself of the "very loving God" , peoples very personal pain? No of course you don't, ok my spelling was a bit off but I in no way regret what I said to 990racle

  • Ok i just read what 990ricle and disagree with most of what he put but it is wrong to have a go at people just because they are religious. Im on the fence, i neither love or hate it but i do go to church sometimes and it does help cope with the loss of my brother sometimes so i think religion does no harm, and you are still very childish for replying the way you did, and besides this is a gary numan video not a religious debate.

  • Well I lost my girlfriend on the 14th jan 2002 and sorry but I don't really care if you think my remark to 990ricle is childish as it was addressed to him and not you, I used to be secretly ,because of my upringing, still a believer, but no more and I find it doesn't help at all, as for turning this thread into a religious debate well I think you will find that wasn't what I was doing, and I think secretly you wish to turn it into a religous debate, not me, I am done with religion

  • Fair enough m8 we'll leave it at that, no i dont want to have a religious debate i couldent give a rats ass about it , if i did i wouldent be listening to Numan. So on a lighter note did you catch the Replicas tour?

  • No not this time unfortunately wish I could have :( ut not going through good times at the moment hoefully I will see him though this year when the new album comes out

  • I did :)

  • lucky you RusticNinja, wish I could have gone and seen him:(

  • gary said in interviews he is quite aware of religious people thinking he is religious cos of some of the lyrics. He said they do not reflect his feelings and he's a atheist.Ofcourse he is, every man who thinks for himself is :-)Religion is like dope, it fucks up your head man

  • Numan isn't struggling with religion.

    He's an atheist.Read his interviews

  • that's what he says. But listening to his lyrics it appears he is unsure. I know ive been there...

  • Numan claims to be atheist but he sings about God far too much to actually be one. If he didn't really believe God existed why all the songs about him? Sometimes it's as if he's singing TO God. That's not atheism...if anything he's angry at God. Why I don't know.

  • Because he lost a child

Doesnt really need any more reason than that

  • Numan's been anti-God long before he lost his child. This goes waaay back. It became more pronounced with the album Sacrifice.

  • I didnt know that! There are gaps in my Numan knowledge as Ive been more into his stuff since Exile.

I assumed the loss of his child was partly responsible for it, but its good to know hes been an active athiest for so long. Perhaps a few people will pick up on it and learn something

    Cheers for that :)

  • You would if it had an impact on your life for a long time like most Atheist before they denounced. NIN made many songs about god and Trent Reznor is firmly Atheist. As a Former believer myself I know what it feels like to desire something to be real but see the delusion collapse all around you, Just because somebody doesn't believe in god doesn't mean they can't still feel the want for one. It's why religions sprout up all over the world. It's a primitive complex.

  • I agree with you on that.

  • Ditto for that.

  • Yes. What religion has done to this world is bad enough for any good atheist to want to speak out. Atheists who dedicate their time to religion do so because they believe that it shouldn't exist in our modern world.

Moreover, your argument is flawed. You might as well say that any artist that doesn't sing about God is atheist if someone who condemns religion frequently in his/her songs is faithful. It simply doesn't follow through.

  • You obviously don't know Numan very well. His lyrics clearly emphasize that he's questioning the existence of god. He has conflicting beliefs on whether god exists or not and he obviously struggles with it. He doesn't know what to believe and it seems that it drives him mad sometimes. He clearly expresses agnosticism which people often confuse with atheism.

  • Well, it's important to note that agnosticism is not separate from atheism or theism. You can agnostic and be either atheist or theist.

  • Really? How does that work? o.o

  • Agnosticism is the belief that a piece of knowledge is unattainable, and therefore must be considered through other things. For example, my girlfriend is an Agnostic atheist and I'm a non-Agnostic atheist. This is because while she believes it's impossible to know whether God exists, I believe it is possible to know the answer for sure, and hold onto the possibility that we may know for sure before we become extinct. Yet neither of us believe there is a God. Kind of a common misconception.

  • Did you also know that he has Asperger Syndrome? It's a form of autism. He talks about it in his interviews but you can't tell because it's mild.

  • THis is a great song and song material its about Numans present self struggling with the issue and belief/non belief of God. He is on the fence. Been there myself and went over the fence. (One of the best things ive done)

  • since 2005 I have been on the fence I'm glad there are others that are in the same position that I am.

  • I would recommend doing an "Alpha course" I did one nine years ago and would highly recommend it to anybody.I had very strong views against faith/religion before doing this,It is very interesting and for me life changing and you can ask questions, i had many, hope this helps..

  • The older he gets the more and more he looks like Klaus Kinsky as Nosferatu. Disturbing.

  • My favorite of Numan.

  • Brilliantly haunting dark and evil, Numan at his best
