  • YYZ at one point:P

  • Stainless steel!..should take a beating and keep on ticking.

  • steel makes an interesting sound as it is... i like :D

  • pfft... not stainless steel... you just used some Cilit Bang O__O

  • I don't like this as china,but as effect...<3

  • Man, this cymbal is just a hit in the right spot! In order to break it, you need to hit it with a big hammer or so, seems like playing just won't do the trick. Awesome cymbal!

  • atleast you know itll never break my drummer needs all his symbols made from stainless steel and his heads made out of teflon or somethin he busts everythin he touches it seems

  • i don't think this is a china... just a custom effect cymbal... the lightrods sound sweet!

  • You should call it a "dumpster ride" that things sick! Sounds like a china ride or something. Make a tutorial pleeeeeeaase!!!!

  • please hit it hard :)

  • 100% approved!!!

  • Dude, this thing sounds lush!

  • aha thats sickkk! very unique sound i reckon you could sell that to like paiste or something ! nice work :DD (always wanted to make my own cymbal ;) )

  • i would play that if you give me it with boom stand, a think i wouldn't pay extra 50 bucks for stant to that sth

  • how did u make that

  • This sound like a 500$ China!!! Its Awesome!!!! Can i place an order :P ???

  • RAD DuDE !

  • That sounds pretty legit.

  • YYZ?

  • TUTORIAL

  • I'd buy one :) I wouldn't pay $300 but I'd buy one, it sounds... unique :)

  • why didnt you play it in context to the whole set? would have been more interesting

  • Fucking massive.

  • Excellent work! It's a good effect sound for the drum set!

  • Dark China Ride® u_u

    amazin!! =D

  • This is a very nice cymbal, with a very interesting sound, but I wont call it China. It's quite unique cymbal and would fit perfectly in experimental music. Make a good use of it.

  • This could make a great trash ride with one rivet?? Sound surprisingly nice

  • this thing is crazy! I like it a lot :)

  • i thinks its missing more bell! its sounds great

  • very thrashy sound... I like it!

  • If you post a tutorial for this you are a saint

  • yooo how do you like the dw edge snare??

  • :33 YYZ by Rush

  • @nightcrawlersteve wELL GOOD NEWS IS YOUR AN INVENTOR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU MADE THE WORLDS FIRST CHINA-RIDE OU OF STAINLESS STEEL !!!!!!!! GREAT WORK BUDDY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • great, is it louder than bronze?

  • love the snare

  • MORTAL COMBAT!

  • that thing has got a nice ride to it and a nasty crash

  • id think stainless would be really hard to crack since its so tough

  • Very nice!

  • not bad for steel )

  • too small

  • Really nice :o

  • Trash ride?

  • i'm not sure if i love or hate the cymbal producing different pitches in different spots.

  • @stylerprofyler It could be useful if you marked it kind of like a steel drum I suppose.

  • Ride Effects cymbal FTW>

  • lol how do you reach the snare if it's all the way over there?

  • I would rather it be a ride cymbal, thats a flat ride!!

  • I liked the bell sound. I bet if you made the bell about twice as big it would make a killer ride.

  • Could you make a tutorial?

  • Hello.

Good idea, Make another, and build the first 21" steel hi hat cymbal ajjajja

    greatings from Argentina

  • it's more like a swish knocker to me....if it had rivets

  • Sounds like a dinner gong

  • sounds good! USABLE FOR A RIDE!

  • It sounds like a sheet of metal. But that's probably because it is a sheet of metal. No wonder cymbal companies don't make them out of steel...

  • Im sorry for not responding to all the comments. Im not a big youtube guy. Any of you could make one of these. For those inquiring about buying one, please check out @MattNolanCustom - he is the real deal and is an actual cymbalsmith. His work is amazing. Thanks all for the comments.

  • Wanna make another?

  • @civictuner91 I hope to when time allows. Matt Nolan (google him) makes incredible cymbals from stainless and he is an actual cymbalsmith. I just did it for fun and out of curiosity.

  • dude, I love this.

  • Put up a video on how to make it! NOW!

    Please;)

  • what kind of stainless is it??

  • @danifilth321 I dont know the exact grade, sorry. It was a piece of scrap in my dads shop.

  • @nightcrawlersteve I love the way this sounds. How do I find it?

  • how much did that sheet of steel run you?

  • Was this easy to make?

  • @spudsmagicvideos - Stainless is a hard metal to work with. If you have the "proper" tools its not too bad. A lot of this was just based on some research, intuition and a go for it attitude. You could do the same :)

  • holy shit that's a huge fucking china @,@

  • can i buy it?

  • definitely interesting! I hope you can keep experimenting with stainless steel cymbals, cus I bet you could make lots of different and useful sounds from it!

    Nice job!

  • @crazy8sdrums - Thank you. I hope to do more, but actually I want to try my hand at a kit. My dad and I made a snare also and it turned out amazingly well. We rolled it and everything. It was fun!

  • i love it! bell looks so perfect.. how did u hammer that?

  • hmmm.. interesting.

  • Thats beast

  • thats a china?

  • Absolutely awesome!!!! Like a china ride, lol. Love it

  • Is not my kind of sound, but its a legit piece of work :) love it

  • sounds more like a china/ride, nice new invention haha! Not the greatest sound but not bad for making it yourself.

  • That's a strange one... But sounds great!

    Man, you rocked.

  • you should make and sell symbols. depending on the price I would buy it lol

  • that makes a very nice ride! how'd you make it???

  • how did u make it?

  • @jesse17ful get some sheet metal and star hammering away!

  • @sweetness295 ok i'll try

  • Ever think of selling any? I really love the sound... I really like that trashy ride-ish sound... I would definitely buy one!

  • Man, it is the first time I listen to a stainless steel cymbal...! I wish I could listen to some crashes, rides and splashes made out of that very same metal alloy. I liked it!

  • i like it

  • I'd buy this if it had the Zildjian logo on it:)

  • The last thing I would want is for my china's to be ride-able. I want it to explode at the slightest touch. Maybe that's just me though.

  • @niceshades3800 that will make u go deaf

  • wooooow awesome sounding cymbal ! pretty rideable!

  • if i could make a china..... it would be sick!

  • I'm sure it's a really cool-sounding cymbal, but hearing only this recording, I would not be compelled to buy it. Can you post a video with higher audio quality?

  • sounds like a really good effect cymbal. dark and mysterious.

  • if you don't mind me asking, how did you make the bell? ...i'm assuming you don't have a bell press.

also what thickness steel did you use?

  • @escafandra: is Steve Nolan related to Matt Nolan?

  • Damn i really like this. They say its like the factory metal one but i disagree. It's a lot better and sounds more usable. Nice stuff, very unique.

  • wut did u make this out of or did u hammerdown a diferent cymbal

  • this is so coool!!!!!!

    good job!!!!

    5/5

you should like star your own china cymbal company, it has your own sound

  • wow

  • @escafandra - It is quite loud actually. It has a fast decay when crashed and some nice pingy ride characteristics.

  • How did you make the Bell?

    please reply :) thanks

  • Did you make this or did you buy it?

  • @brootaltoaster - I made this. Thanks.

  • @nightcrawlersteve

    how did u make it?

  • How??

  • dumbass it says home made and hand hammered... just sayin

  • @brootaltoaster did you not read the caption? he made it, duh !

  • it's a lot like the Factory Metal Gothic Radius...i dig it!

  • I can definitely see this being some sort of a really dry ride for jazz purposes. (judging from this video anyway). Kudos :)

  • It can definitely hang with the bronze. Gets out of the way much faster though.

  • Very cool sound. Have you ever seen the film 30 Days of Night? Great soundtrack. This cymbal would be perfect in that type of environment.
