  • Faith comes from hearing the Word. There are 4 kinds of hearers Mathew 13:1-23 this takes care of the question of God picking and choosing. To sin means to break God's law unintetionally. Wickedness is breaking God's law intentionally. Deu 30:19 I call Heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore, choose life, that you may live, you and your seed,

  • Here's the real question that should be asked, why did Cain ask for a mark to be put on his head so no one would hurt him if the only other people on the planet were his parents which he was banished away from to the Land of Nod? Answer, because there were 2 different creations the first on the sixth day the second on the seventh day(Adam&Eve). This is where Cain's wife who is unnamed comes from.

  • @mindmelt13 A second creation? Two sets of parents? Why then this?

1co 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

Obviously there's a period of time in Genesis 4 where many others are born and move around. This is the most creative 'reading into the scriptures' I've yet heard.

  • @pennylaneproductions Well the first creation happens on the sixth day before Adam & Eve were even created out of dirt on the seventh day, so whatever happens in the 4th chapter doesn't even matter because that is related to the offspring of Adam & Eve and has nothing to do with the people created on the sixth day, which is where Cain's wife comes from. Cain's wife also is not his sister because Eve's first female child isn't born till her fifth birth, and by that time Cain was gone for years.

  • Actually, God had Moses write two books about the co0mmands of God to regulate every sphere of life with the ephasis of failing to keep one commandment-you are guilty of not keeping all the commandments. The significant thing besides Moses writing the law twice, one in Leveticus and the other in Deuteronomy as well as in the other books authored by Moses and through out the OT,when seeing in the NT that not one person except Christ fulfill the law-The point is God knew all of this before creation

  • So if man can be righteous by his own will, then why do we need Christ?

  • @tiagotrinidad Sin is to break God's law unintentionally. Wickedness is to break God's law intentionally. Grace is for sin not wickedness. Proverbs 3:31,33 (27-35) 6:16-19, 12:22, 15:8,9,26 16:5, 17:13,15

A tree is known by it's fruit. John Calvin had Michael Servetus (1553) killed. B4 anyone says David did likewise, David did repent and ask God for forgiveness. We are supposed to lead them to God not send them to Satan right? Convert not kill right?

  • @suggesttwo So if grace is for unintentional sin, but not for intentional sin then there is no forgiveness for those who repent from intentional sin. Which is unbiblical.

"God, having raised up his servant, sent him to you first, to bless you by turning every one of you from your wickedness." Acts 3:26

Jesus saves wicked people not good people. Repent, trust in Jesus not on yourself, and be saved.

  • @tiagotrinidad David murdered Bathsheba's husband Uriah the Hittie. (wicked) David acknowledged his wrongdoing When confronted by Nathan. (Repentance) Therfore God forgave him. It's like John Calvin. If he admitted to God that killing Servetus was wicked and was sorry for what he did God would have forgiven him, and there would be no reproach. But if hs did not he is in the lake of fire (Rev 20:11-15)

re: Sin: Means to miss the mark. John 9:41 35-41

    Repent James 4:7,8

  • @tiagotrinidad that's not what he is saying (nor are Arminians, for that matter) -- God has set the rules, and if man "does well" i.e. "repent and believe", or "call upon the name of the Lord", he is saved. It's not ALONE that man does it. man can only reach out in faith after God provides the salvation propititation, etc...

  • Well stated on the Calvinism statement "Doctrines of Grace." They speak as if they own the teachings of Gods grace in the Bible.

  • The Calvinist's final resort: anyone who does not agree simply does not understand Calvinism! Baloney, it's not that hard to understand.

  • Great video

  • Thanks!

  • "But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same veil untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which veil is done away in Christ.

But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart.

Nevertheless when IT shall turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away. "

    2 Corinthians 3:14-16

Notice the phrase "when IT shall turn to the Lord". In other words when they repent to God God will reveal Christ.

    Thanks for the video.

  • Good video. It is also inconsistent for Jesus to speak in parables if they are unable to hear and to repent in the 1st place (an addition to the thought about God blinding people [with caveat as you rightly say as per your e.g. of 2 Thess.2] if they are unable already).

  • And to drive us to Jesus Christ, whose alone righteousness is acceptable to God.

He said, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." (Matt 5:48) If you think you are able to do that, you know NOTHING of God's grace.

Other If...then statements about obedience and blessing are similar. They point out our failings, our unrighteousness and drive us to the Savior and to his - the only righteousness there is - and the only possible basis of salvation.

  • "Ought implies can." "Command implies ability." This has always been the argument of those who refuse to bow before the righteousness of Christ ALONE and seek to plead their own case before God based in some measure on thier own righteousness. What they miss is that God's perfect standard of righteousness was not changed to accommodate man's fallen and sinful state after the fall.

Of course God commands what we cannot do. It is by his mercy that he does so - to squelch our pride.

  • Friend, I mean no offense but...these arguments are rubbish. No one I know 'pleads his own case' with God nor believes in their own righteousness. You are pushing man's contrivances as if they are scriptural...little different than Catholics do. I have no righteousness, nothing to commend myself, that is precisely why I accepted Christ's offer...y'know like the Bible says to do.

  • Good video. Calvinism vs. arminianism is a difficult topic to discern from scripture. The problem is that it supports both.

  • It seems to, at least. Thanks. More later.

  • You say you are neither Calvinist nor Arminian. Have you not heard of the logical law of the excluded middle? There is NO middle ground logically. No tertium quid.

It is actually Arminianism itself which TRIES to be a middle ground between Augustinianism's contention of man's fallen condition of spiritual death and Pelagious' heretical denial of the fall and the resultant death in sin.

Between death and life there is no middle ground. A man in a coma is still alive. God bless.

  • BTW Lightspeed and I both read Dave's book. He doesn't really understand Calvinism. I also caught Dave in a couple of outright lies at a local Calvary Chapel. I waited until everyone was gone to confront him. Naturally, he had no answer. God bless.
