Also at 7:05 instead of waiting you could have run up the pillar behind you and jump over the trap but I doubt you would save more than one nanosecond.

actually, that trap has no collision detection. someone pointed this out to me after i finished the segment. You can actually run right through the trap and not get hurt ... saves 1.5 seconds. wish i would have known that before doing the run

1:31 you could have jumped off the wall, possibly saving half a second or more.

Can you just redo segments early on and not redo new segments? I thought it has to be one continuous game file

you are able to redo segments because there is no in-game clock, everything is manually timed. So as long as everything matches up from segment to segment (amount of life, sand tanks, sand powers, secondary weapons) it is ok. In fact, the person who has the current PoP TTT run on SDA re-did his first couple segments after finishing the game.
