  • i remember having this game as a kid and also rembering not knowing about how the grading system works , i thought all the guys in the game were called dan , lol. later on in my life, realising it was a progressive grading system.

  • that stomach punch sound effect is spot on, almost makes up for the lack of music

  • Kneel punch to the opponents nuts when he high kicks.

Many hours of amusement that provied.

  • Jeez, I used to fucking love this game!

  • What a classic. I'm surprised at how smooth the animation is for a game that is 25 years old and on a system that is a fraction as powerful as most phones these days! Considering games like Karate Champ which only had slightly better graphics, were doing the rounds in arcades at the time, this is really quite a feat for the programmers.

  • @Stayrsaigh I beg to differ, I always found the animation infuriating and way inferior to International Karate.

  • I remember being really jealous of my c64 owning mates when this came out, until this Spectrum version arrived!!

  • I loved this game to bits :)

  • The animation and sound effect is good when they get kicked in the jaffas, you can almost feel the pain.

  • This was the best beat em up on the Speccy. Yie-Ar was crap. IK+ was okay. Way of the Tiger was pretty good. Bruce Lee was a laugh. Exploding Fist and Barbarian are the tops for me.

  • nah yie-ar was good.. try playing yir-ar 2.. now that was utter cack.. kung fu master I didn't like.. but bruce lee was a good conversion and shoalin's road was ok.. but ik+ on c64 and errm usagi yojimbo I liked best I guess.

  • I just never liked Yie-Ar - I think it was the lack of animtation on the characters. it was like 1 frame moves - and it didn't matter what kicks or punches you used. IK+ on the C64 was pretty cool I must admit though

  • Hardly the greatest repertoire of moves in the world. Crouch and punch every time, how boring.

  • It's really effective though and that's what counts.

  • Not bad sound for the Speccy but the C64 version was awesome with it's music score

  • Ah, my friend was one of the people that programmed this port of the game. I've never seen the game in action until now. Steve, where are you? Steve?

  • I used to play this against my sister... she'd get pissed off because I was usually winning, then she'd smack me, and we'd start fighting for real...

  • Sounds like better fun than the game, lol!

  • i would like to fight your sister...

  • Have you got ye ar kung fu?

  • I put Yie ar kung fu up a few months ago.

  • Excelent!! Great game!! I love it!!

    Greetings from Chile,

  • Dear God I only typed this in to Youtube for a laugh.... Thanks for posting this, it takes me back years!

  • Lol! Twenty three years ago since this came out. Bloody hell!

    You're welcome mate!

  • i love this game..

  • You have fine taste sir!

  • I remember going into school, and i mean i am having a flashback right now, and when the word got around about this game everyone was playing it. It also led to the word 'roundhouse' becoming greatly feared. "Daniel Jones is going to roundhouse you" etc.

  • Yeah this game was 'IT' when it came out. Too many keys though. Sounds like a great school. Good old Daniel Jones and his schoolboy pranks. I wonder what became of him? I bet he can't even touch his toes nowadays. Send him to me and I'll put my fist in his fat gut.

  • Wow; the Spectrum has digital speech. Right on.

  • I thought this was the best fighting game on the speccy...untill I played IK+.

    Another great upload .Cheers

  • You've got a point there mate! Nice backdrops in IK+.

  • request: Viking Raiders or Zig Zag (the first speccy game to be advertised on TV i reckon, but could be wrong!)

  • I've never played it/them so I don't know what to expect. But ok. I bet you've picked a right stinker for me!

  • Zig Zag is a bit like that BBC maze game off The Adventure Game - good but gets a tad tedious. Viking Raiders is awesome if you have a mate to play against.

  • I used to like The Adventure Game on BBC. Just had a look at Viking Raiders and I do remember playing it now.

  • Gronda, Gronda. Trust me Viking Raiders is ALMOST as good as Chaos. Watch out for the ice coming down from the north!

  • I remember the Adventure game. Funnily enough was watching it on U Tube last week. Really wierd to watch it now. That guy always talking backwards gets on your tits.

  • Taht yug syawla gniklat sdrawkcab steg no rouy stit. Kcufynnips...lol!

  • I bet Keith Chegwin and Johnny Ball wouldnt have been able to solve that one!!

  • As I remember, Johnny Ball was a clever dude and could solve the Rubik's Cube quicker than Keith Chegwin could down a vodka and coke.
