    unknown song by bach

    there are 7 days

    the cake walk (by golywog)

  • This reminds me of some little known arcade game from some time ago, you were this little yellow fella who had to go round eating dots whilst being chased by ghosts, darn it the name escapes me.

  • This game helped me get into the concept of "retro gaming"!

  • I used to play this at a friend's house...can't believe I never noticed the resemblance to Pac-Man at the time. Oh well...ten-year-olds are dumb...

  • If the disc on your controller was all tired and old and used, your corner-hugging abilities were hindered, subsequently bumping you into the coppers. Very frustrating. I won $100 in a contest playing this game at a mall in Ontario. Hilarious.

  • lol the music used to drive my mom crazy too....great game i used to get deep into the game...but the control is tough u have to make sharp turns to get money etc... i wish they would add this to a collection for the ds etc.. to introduce this game to the yopung kids...the music and graphics were very colorful and entertaining

  • lol the music used to drive my mom crazy too....great game i used to get deep into the game...but the control is tough u have to make sharp turns to get money etc...

  • Of my Intellivision games, this is the one my mom liked to play occasionally.

  • I loved this game, but sadly I think like Beauty and the Beast they didn't put it on the Intellivision best of games for Nintendo because of the similarities between Pac-Man and Donkey Kong. :P

That said, thank you for sharing some great memories of the game here.

  • For once someone using real hardware for a gameplay video. Thanks. Intv Lock N Chase is one of my favorite dot-gobblers on any system (2nd to Pac Man jr on the 2600). I've never broken 20k though

  • The Intellivision was the first and only game console to be designed by General Instrument. It was also the first 16-bit game console, using GI's CP-1610 processor clocked at a meager 894 kHz, which runs rather hot despite the low clock frequency.

  • LOVED this game back in the day. think it plays and feels better than the arcade original. I love the fact that my first console the Intellivision still works perfectly to this day.

  • There was a bug in this game where you could "escape" the tunnels and run along the sides of the wall. When you scrolled completely off of the screen, you would score tons of points, and it would be impossible to die, meaning you could easily rack up a million points (before the game rotated back to zero again)

  • This game pretty much sums up the Eighties.

  • My parents bought this system for me when I was 5. That first night I played Space Invaders for several hours straight and ended up with black and blue thumbs from the side buttons. Back then I was best in my neighborhood at Baseball--man, my defense was impeccable. Even after NES, I went back to the Intellivision. Something about that system just clicked. Looking back now...it seems like the fact that I preferred Intellivision to Atari really defined my personality--in a strange way.

  • My uncle had one of these and I LOOOVED this game. No joking.. he developed a brain tumor and was never the same after the surgery. :-/ It makes me scared to get one of these again and replay it.. With the brain cell loss I've already suffered from being married I'm scared I'd never survive it.

  • another classic.

  • lol this is a rip off of pac man

  • @jfl125 actually, there was a cat and mouse type game before Pac Man, so to say this is a rip off of it is inaccurate. All games pay homage to something that came before it and Pac Man is no different

  • De los mejores juegos que tuvo la consola de intellivision. this ,the beauty and the best, burguer time. was my favorites games when was a child jijiji.

es mucho mejor esta version q la de atari.

lastima que el jugador del video sea tan pesimo, para tan mavarilloso juego. jajajaa

  • Aghhhh he was so close to finishing the clock level! what was next?? I can remember how difficult this got in later levels and this was about as far as I used to get. My thumb would ache on the disc controller and my eyes would be so dry from not blinking. Always used to get beat because the stupid controller let me down (well that's my excuse!) and he wouldn't go where I wanted to in my panic! great game- Happy days!

  • @ozgog I think that was supposed to be a ring, not a clock. ;-)

  • A ripoff of pac-man LOL

  • Your character looks like a pooka from Dig Dug wearing the chef's hat from Burger Time.

  • lol my father was seriously addicted to this game. He used to not let me and my sister play...

  • you missed the crown my mother could beat you at this game

  • i grew up with this better than 2600 version because later i got an intellivision 2 and swapped the intellivsion removable controllers with colecovision controllers i even had the access to the keypad

  • I remember exploiting the "glitch" in this game: you can lock yourselves in the walls, going up and down in a loop, getting MAD points while doing so. Great game!

  • WoW the sound effects bring back great memories, I am only 24 but had some of the greatest gaming times of my life on this machine. I would say this, He Man, Beauty and the Beast, Utopia, Worm Whomper, Bump and Jump, Burger Time, and Dracula were what threw me into a gaming addiction that I am still currently in today.

  • nothing like pacman =) god how copyright changed

  • who gives a shit if its a pac man knock off, its quite the gem of a game

  • Man this guy sucked, lol, I got the money everytime.

  • Comparing this and the Atari 2600 port of Lock 'N Chase to the Atari 2600 version of Pac-Man is like comparing the Sega Saturn and 32X ports of Virtua Fighter 1 to the PS1 version of Tekken 1. One is an original game that succeeded in the arcades, but failed in its earliest port release; while the other is an inspiration (or what most people would say is a ripoff, clone, wannabe, etc.) that succeeded more in early home console business than Pac-Man/Virtua Fighter.

  • Oh, man...I used to watch my sister play this game all day. I still remember all the music and sound effects like it was yesterday. Nothing like using a telephone to play video games!

  • Pac Man rip off but still a good game, I miss my Intellivision

  • I forgot all about intellivision until I saw this!! I had this game and used to think it was the shit. 27 years later, crap LOL.

  • The original locknchase is a bit different.

  • A classic game.

  • nice

  • what Bach movement forms the soundtrack basis?

  • That is a snippet from Bach's Brandenburg Concerto #5 In D, BWV 1050.

  • awesome! thanks!

  • I like this game, but I do not like the bug that is in the game. When you go through the tunnel push up and down fast and your character will go off the screen. When this happens your score goes up fast.

  • Pacman...

  • @ArcadeGames

    1. It did better than Pac-Man at being ported to home consoles during its early years, just like when Namco's Tekken 1 did better in the home market than Sega's Virtua Fighter 1.

    2. What differentiates itself are sliding doors and the goal to escape the building after obtaining the currency.

    3. Sega's Head-On predates Namco's Pac-Man in dot-collecting maze games. Namco was also notable for creating other games that resemble Sega's.

  • mattel

  • i cant find a computer DESK TOP version, did find ASTEROIDS.. PAC MAN...

    anyone help?

  • Look up Bliss emulator.

  • Used to love this and play it till you could cook dinner on the game machine which used to get super hot. I remember a bug where if you went back and forth thru the hyper zone over and over, after a while you could walk thru walls until you locked a door. lol

  • true i discoverd it by accident myself one day as well

  • USE YOUR LOCKS MAN, USE YOUR LOCKS!! Thanks for posting this game , I really used to enjoy playing this game.

  • really fun game!! Thanks for posting this.

  • wow i had this game for the gameboy

  • un clonico de pacman pero de verdad que era adictivo... era mi tercer juego favorito en intellivision. Despues de tron deadly disc y night stalker...

  • I played the hell out of this when I was a kid, but it just looks like a blatant Pac Man rip-off now.

  • the memories are almost causing tears!

  • this version looks pretty good. but i like the 2600 version better

  • You have gotta be joking... the VCS version was only a step or so above the failure known as the original pacman on the VCS.

  • I love the Gameboy version. :D

  • Is it just me, or does this game sort of look like Pac-Man? It's not the same game at all, but the maze of this looks kind of... similar.

  • Well..there are 4 enemy's, which you gotta run away for, the level colour is blue too, and the objective is to collect yellow ball thingy's...sooo..YES

  • Well it does have some unique ideas to the game.

You can lock out cops from the door you came in, and you have to escape the scene after all the yellow balls are taken.

The yellow balls, believe it or not, are actually gold coins. You are a theif trying to rob a bank with cops on your tail. Collect all the money and escape in one piece.

The loud sound effects represent the bank alarm going off. Just ignore that darn sound, evade the coppas, and get the heck out with the dough. :)

  • c...coins?!..well okay...thanks for the info =D..

  • Yeah, I had to have the intruction booklet for knowing that, lolz.

  • On top of with 2 lock doors, u can trap the cops in the corner, earning you a 100,300,3000 point bonus depending on if 1,2 or 3 caught in corner at same time.

  • Traping cops? Oh man, that's cruel dude! XD

  • oh, it does

  • You mean it doe look like Pac-Man? XD

It's kind of like Saint's Row being a copycat of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, no?

  • I loved this game! If you correctly timed a quick 360 of the control disc by the right-hand tunnel you could glitch down the side of the screen with your score going crazy. My mate could never understand my ma-hoosive high scores..! Good times.

  • That would be due to the "paging" technique they used on the level design on the wrap from side to side...

  • i loved this game

  • You got killed a lot! My pattern was to lock one or two of the "cops" in the upper right area and clear the two vertical hallways to either side of the central chamber (those were death traps!) and ignore the dollar sign, since it froze you as well as the cops. Can't quite remember what the list of prizes was, though. I remember a Heart being high on the list.

  • Heart was the last one ...

I made it only once at that time and ill never forget (at normal difficulty level) ... Shit that was so hard. Remember the feeling of the disk controller ? And those tiny side buttons ?? What were they thinking ???

  • Come on, it ain't that hard. Just a little practice each day, and you're good to go. XD

  • That is one decent path, I have one that worked thru the bobby pin level without much trouble, and still did decent with modifications afterwords... I may put it up if I can figure how to record from Bliss.

  • i liked this game but the game controller made it impossible for me to be good at this game

  • Damn was i good at this game!....bloody great i get to see it again....shame i moved to vancouver and left all my intelivision games and atari games in the uk...

  • You can pick up a system locally for $5 - $20 and most games for around $1.

  • @ninjamypinja even better, you can download an intellivision emulator and get as many ROMs you want a play for free!!

  • Lol, at around 4:30, I remember doing that trick to lock that purple guy in... poor bastard...

  • I wish this was on the Intellivision Lives collection that I have for Xbox.

  • Your not using you lock device enough on these guys. you can actually lock some of these guys up and keep them away from you.

  • The Mattel people did a fantastic job porting arcade games to the Intellivision. Burgertime and Lock N Chase is proof of that.

  • Fun game. A pac-man knockoff though. My mom always told me to turn the sound down when I played this. The music when the money sign came on drove her crazy!

  • Lol.

The same was with my mom, she hated this video game and the sounds.!!

    nice posting

  • @kmartclock86 A copycat for sure, but hardly a knockoff--the whole cat-and-mouse thing works great here because you could actually stop the character anywhere and dodge back and forth opposite a wall from a cop--better yet, you could lock them into one of the four corners for a set amount of time and earn points for doing it, in addition to picking up the gold pieces. It actually gave a tangible story to the maze collecting game--and the box art was just fantastic.

  • i love playin this game!!!!

  • I like that Jingle that always plays :D

  • DAMN!!!! that's COLD.. nabbing you right there at the exit .... good game!! 420 def helps!!! (when you're watching for the first time in 20 yrs....

  • My mom was a killer at that game

  • lmao

  • why?

  • Such mesmerizing souvenirs...

  • This is one of my favorite Intellivision games! On the original game console you could "steal" the loot on the right side. For example, on the last board in this video you could get bonus points for going back and forth by the clock. (The crook appears on left side of screen, then right, then left, until you hear the chime.)

  • OMG! I remember that too.. up and down on the joypad thingy... wow... remember all the bonus things playing mario bros for the first time? hehe (on nintendo)

  • I had the original console with I bet 40 games and tossed it all!! :(

  • WTF!? This was for gameboy classic... And it roxored the boxors...

  • Intellevision...The Future is Today!

  • This is classic, i remember my mom playing this all the time.

  • I forgot what level I got to in this game when I was a kid. I know me and a couple kids in the neighbor hood always played and when we got to a new level..we would call each other and run over to each others house and make sure they werent lying. I remember a clock level, a key level, I think a radio level that was grey colored.

  • Oh my god, this brought back memories of when I was under five years old.... Thank you, I had forgotten about this one, it's somewhat emotional for me to remember those good times.

  • thanks for the upload i appreciate it :) I just bought an intellivision recently and am looking on the tube for some good games to find :D any recommendations please PM me

  • This was one of the very best "Pac-Man with a twist" games ever made (along with Lady Bug, which I still have for ColecoVision). I never tried any other version of LnC, but this was good enough.

  • I remember when I got 100,000 on this game, everything went ballistic (super fast speed no matter what speed you started on). Nice footage.

  • I like the tune from when the dollar sigh appears.

  • This and Burgertime were great arcade games for INTV. I wasted many an hour playing these in junior high!

  • Too bad this game wasn't made for the ColecoVision. It would have looked really great.

  • I still have this!!

  • lol run forest run!

  • You can trap the cops in the corners for extra points. 100 for one and 300 for two. I never got 3 or more trapped in the corners. I see you got to the clock before the game ended. I have gotten all the way up to the heart level which is worth 5,000 points. Is there anything beyond the heart?

  • Was this game Mattel's answer to Pac-Man?

  • More like Data East's... but to the best of my knowledge, it was Intellivision's exclusive. And IMO, even better than Pac-Man, since you could throw someone off your trail by locking a door in their path.

  • Thanks for the info. I gotta see if I can find this cartridge.

  • God how I love this game. I would jump at the chance to play this bad boy again. Awesome post!

  • I remember the countless hours I spent playing this game on my Intellivision...the good ol' days

  • This was a very fun game. Wish it had been included on Intellivision Lives for the PS2.

  • Technically, Data East made it, so Intv would have to license the rights for it.

  • Yeah this game was pretty cool. anyone who was child in the 80's such as myself knew this game. it predates nintendo of course and could keep u busy playing for hours.. good times!

  • That'd be sweet if somebody re-made some of the intellivision games; Lock 'N Chase for the PS3 maybe?

  • There is Intellivision Lives! for the PS2, it has over 60 original Intellivision games with the original graphics, sounds, and gameplay (with the obvious exception of having the controls reworked for the Dualshock 2). Sadly, Lock 'N Chase, Burger Time, and Utopia aren't included in the package... :/

  • Burgertime and L'nC were done by outside developers. They couldn't be put in the package without licensing.

  • Oh I see... too bad, I guess.

  • This was my late grandfather's favorite Intellivision game!! I remember playing with him when I was 6 or 7 up until he passed away in 1995. What fun times we had and to think it was my grandfather who fueled my love for gaming all those years ago. No, I never got to play Sega Genesis with him, but I'm sure he would've enjoyed it all the same. :'-D

  • Do you believe me if I tell you that I finished all the icons of this game when I was 10 or 11 at regular difficulty (when pressing disk at start) ? I hardly can beleive it myself. The last icon was a heart. This game was VERY difficult in the last levels. You HAVE to lock 2 or 3 cops all the time if you want to move. Was the only way. Thx for that post dude.

  • Did anyone ever push down when he was going through the tunnel to come out on the other side of the screen? Your score would go up higher and higher.

  • I used to love this game. It was really off da hook!!

  • Hey come to think if it they were biting atari's shit also with Space Armada!!

  • RIP-OFF Of PAC-MAN

  • Of course, but it killed Atari pac-man

  • Has anyone heard the "I want my Intellivision" song?

    It's on a PS2 Intellivision compilation. It's really cheesy ;-)

  • mkbadger - I have and I like the song. On Intellivision dot com u can get a CD that has the song on it. I have the GameCube version

  • that song was done by an actual music group called Astrosmash (I know, after the game right? yep!) Intellivision Lives asked to put it in the game, and as Astrosmash is big INTV fans, they said yes.

  • Thanks for that :-)

  • Check out the Intellivision website.

    Free game downloads etc ;-)

  • hahahahaha i wish i could have once again my intellevison instead of this 360

  • man i remember being really really good at this game..and seeing all the levels and the things you collect really brings it back...what were the levels in order..hat, phone, clock etc...

  • It's great how probably we all start the game the same way: first on the right and then up to trap the cop. i have always did the same! Great!

  • This probably is my favourite intellivision game

  • I loved this game along with Tron:Deadly Disks, Dungeons & Dragons & B17. Much better than the too perfect games of today.

  • man tron deadly disks and boxing was the best games yell

  • I found out on Sunday that my console is still in my mum's loft! I'll be going over to check it out asap. ;-)

  • Nice clone!!!

  • One time the Intellevision overheated and the guy got stuck in the side border out of reach of the cops and the score just went up exponentially.

  • this game is a very good pacman clone just as good as pacman on the same system

  • I'm ten yrs old again.

  • So cool !

  • I love the sound of old games
