They put too much "OH MY GOD, LOOK! TWO MOMS!" in there. Would have been just as good, (okay, maybe not, it's still pretty scary looking), without having to wave it quite so much that there are two moms.
Uhm, stressing the fact that he has 2 moms, I think, is kinda backwards. Aren't they trying to convey the fact that his parents being lesbians is a NORMAL thing, and that they shouldn't make a huge deal out of it, as in, mentioning it in the name of the show?
HEY GUYS, I GOT AN IDEA! You see, it's been proven that a child needs a father and a mother to develop properly, right? Well, let's do something different. You're gonna love this! We take the father out... Oh this is so clever... And replace him... Get ready, this is really good! With... ANOTHER MOTHER! shutupandtakemymoney.jpg
I am too, but if I had children I wouldn't get this for them for two reasons. One, it looks extremely poorly executed, two, because I'm pretty sure the simple act of raising them is enough to let them know homosexuality isn't wrong.
I don't think there should be such an emphasis on the fact he has two mothers, why make it such a big deal? There's no childrens song singing "one dad and one mum". The childrens series I've watched with children characters with solely one parental figure for example never make a big deal about that.. As a lesbian I found this to be touching but I think you could have gone about it in a more subtle manner. Yes, it should be obvious, but not thrown in faces.
This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my life. Have gays ever thought that the reason a lot of people don't like them is because they want all the attention/special status? This is like standing in the middle of a crowded room and shouting at the top of your lungs for attention.
So, hypothetically speaking, you're making a show about a boy being raised by loving lesbian parents. That's fantastic. Very progressive of you. Problem is, you need to make sure that the animation doesn't give your viewing audience nightmares. That's the low stumbling block that this show's gone and tripped over.
This looks like a cartoon for 4 year olds. Most children learn about sex at around the age of 11. So, not only is this a LOOK AT ME MY MUMS ARE GAAAY show but also a show that encourages such important decisions at a young and uneducated age.
I hate to tell this kid that he will be teased in school. Once he gets into middle school or high school. Most guys will ask him if his two mothers makeout with each other and then proceed to ask for pics.
I Think thats a pretty nice idea. If there is something we need to teach the next generation, this thing is tolerance. But to be fair, this 3D animation its kinda bad, maybe you guys should stick with old classic 2D animation.
That and the horrible animation killed me. I love the idea of a LBGT children's cartoon, but Goddamn, it would have to be really good. This... this doesn't look good at all.
first i would like to say that i am pro gay, and would like more cartoons that had gay characters and families in it. But that was the biggest piece of crap i have ever had the displeasure of sitting through.
My girlfriend&I live together & we have domestic partnership,da closest we can get 2 Marriage,& we do a gr8 job at raising our son.I look @ some men & dey're not in their kid's life,I get outraged bc der r ppl who would give anything 2 have a kid & those men take der kids for granted.I believe children raised wit same sex parents tend 2 b more nurturing & more acceptant of diversity.Der r many women who have kids & rely on der mothers/grandmothers/aunts/sisters/cousins to raise their children.
I'm all for showing different kinds of family in television but making it the very subject of the show just has the effect of making it seem like we're supposed to think it's weird instead it should just be about the kid and his friends and just casually show him and his mothers on occasion when you draw attention to the fact that the kid has lesbian parents every episode you're going to give kids the idea that such a thing is bizarre.
I'm perfectly fine with the two moms thing (or two dads if that was the case), but I feel that this is still going to be yet another Family channel show that dumbs down our children. Children's television was the best 20-30 years ago, it just sucks now. This is a step forward in terms of social awareness, but the quality of the show just seems to be in line wit the other crap on television. This is just a first impression of course, it could be good, but not better than The Smurfs.
If they want to prove to certain people that homosexuality is normal, sane and acceptable, why make an entire horribly animated CG cartoon that's entirely based around that message? @DasHuggernaut I see that line as maintaining the long tradition of adult-oriented double-entendres in children's programming. ie. Smutty jokes that fly straight over the kid's heads, lol.
I second that, and add an predict the inevitable invocation of rule 34. Of coarse with the overly generic character design, Id say it wouldn't be too hard to splice together a few pictures here and there to make an entire comic book about those "perfect harmonies".
The kid doesn't exist, he's a cartoon character!! Plus i think the mayority of LGBTQ families live above the poverty line. This imaginary boy seems to have educated parents and lives well off.
Kind of ironic yet they they call people who don't tolerate the gay are fascists or those who teach "brainwash" that the gay is wrong, yet they come with these video's that promotes homophilia which you have to agree on or you are a fascist or ignorant in a way they are brainwashing the people themselves and forcing people that homophobia is wrong, what they don't realize is that they are doing the same thing as those "homophobic" fascists
Your mistake is thinking that the target audience for this was Fundamentalist kids who need to be convinced that gay people are ok, which it wasn't. This was clearly intended for kids with gay parents or family members, to give them positive role models and narratives about being in a non-traditional family. That's not the same thing as "brainwashing."
And frankly, even it was intended as propaganda, there's a significant difference between saying "Everyone is human" vs "Only our way is right."
As opposed to "This is the right way; people that think otherwise are bigots for not believing my way, and whether they think so or not, they'd best conduct themselves how I want them to."
Religious indoctrination Vs. cultural indoctrination. In the end, the children suffer.
But this comment won't make it past the filter, since it's not positive or unintelligible enough to straw man. Enjoy your hypocritical censorship.
Just because the child does not have a father figure in his doesn't mean that he is going to be a wuss, there are plenty of males that will sorround him. Being tough and macho does not make a man..
Why the hell would that make you a wuss? Because you think all gays are wusses? (wrong) because all women are wusses? (also wrong) and because he has a gay family that means he's never exposed to other males ever? (wrong again)
I'm assuming they mean "without a brain of your own" by saying they're a religious follower and relies on the bible and their religion for their own views and opinions.
Having two parents is a sin, not for the child but for the parents, marige:male+female in the bible and if you think homosexuality is okay your messed up!
OMG Where was this show when I was growing up? I'm so so happy to see this... I would like to see more.Buddyg has got to be a cool show.I'll shall inquire further in the link posted. Thank you for posting this.
My question is that if a child is raised by lesbian parents, who's the father? Is he even important at all? I would hope so...it feels kind of wrong otherwise. And how are you supposed to explain the idea of sexuality to such a young child? My biggest problem with this is that the climate towards gay people is too hostile for this to work. How are you supposed to show prejudice against gays in a kids show? It happens a lot and they need to know about it.
there are all kinds of families, do you go after single parents and insult them because their kids don't have a mom or they don't have a dad? and little kids (at least the ones i know) never question why they have the parents they have, they just want to know they're loved.
It varies from couple to couple in how they involve the 'father' (or in most cases, sperm donor). Sometimes it's an anonymous donation and they don't need or want a father's involvement since they're co-parenting. It's just how that family structure works. I don't think this show is aimed at showing prejudice, just presenting a different family, especially important for kids who do have two moms. Which combats prejudice in a subtle way.
and Luckyhat4, kids with gay parents are going to find out about homophobia wether you want them to or not, it's sad but it's true. so why should'nt we make their lives a little easier and show them and their peers that it's okay to have gay parents. there's a lot more to gay families than legal and political matters and kids need to know that. if you can have straight couples on kids shows and portray them as just regular parents, then you can do the same with gay couples.
is this for real? if so, cool! I've been wandering when they'd start making children's cartoons about tolorance of homosexuals. maybe the next generation won't be as screwed up as this one...
It's for real. However, the show is more about a little boy who just happens to have 2 moms. It was made for kids who have one or more LGBT parents but we're finding that it's not just LGBT parents and their kids who love Buddy G. So . . . thanks for taking your time to comment. You can find out more about the show and buy the first DVD ($10) at BuddyG dot tv
I have a six year old son and he has a good friend with 2 moms. I would like for him to see these videos. We all should teach our children tolerance for all.

I'm assuming they mean "without a brain of your own" by saying they're a religious follower and relies on the bible and their religion for their own views and opinions.
