  • Love it, dont care what people say about him, he has talent and I think thats what annoys some folk, people like Pete even semi concious can muster more talent, charisma than most of his critics could ever dream of.

  • Now seriously. It is not an easy task to learn to love an artist, to compare it with the whole world and to just lose yourself to music. YOU make the music live. That sounds a bit sentimental I know. But see the point: Music is just an empty container that you CAN fill with your thoughts.

  • awesome video...does anybody no what gig is at :12 secs?<3

  • Noel Gallagher, Pete Doherty and Carl Barat should write a song together

  • @JordanWolfendale

Not Gallagher. He's a overrated twat!

  • @MermaidAntihero1988 really? how many number ones have you had?!

  • @cfcolly

And how many number ones has Katy Perry had? Your point?

  • @MermaidAntihero1988 Whatever mate, you might not like Noel but Oasis are no way over rated. one of the greatest bands of all time, plus Noels solo album is awesome

  • @cfcolly

You saying this stuff is why he's overrated. You're over rating him. Alot of Oasis fans do this, because Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory were very good that you'll buy anything he does no matter how mediocre it is. He has lost his edge so hard.

  • @MermaidAntihero1988 I actually agree with you, I'm not a massive die hard oasis fan, I wasn't a fan of Dig Out Your Soul, but I think Noel's new album is a huge return to form. fucking great album

  • @MermaidAntihero1988 That some sort of a joke?, He's wrote some of the biggest selling tunes in the world, yet he's overrated?, His début solo album just went to number one, how many of your albums have went to number one?,

  • @MermaidAntihero1988 Go and watch him. Seen Noel/Oasis/Liam/Doherty+Daltry/Doherty solo/Libertines. All quality.

Hes over-rated by whom? He gets bad press all the time by newpaper tossers who dont know a fucking thing, but if he died they'd all be raving about his music.

Why bother commenting negatively on something?

Dont watch it if you dont like him!

  • @mgeorge733

I agree with you about Pete Doherty. I'm done with the Noel fight but "if I had a gun" is boring shit. No way I'll watch any live sets.

  • @MermaidAntihero1988 So you don't rate The libertines/Doherty's/Barat's slow songs that are of a similar tempo then. If the Noel's latest album was written by someone you're a fan of, you'd like. People who are ignorant about this kind of thing always have this kind of view. How is watching Doherty sat on a stool with an acoustic guitar different from Noel doing the same!?

  • @mgeorge733

Pete's a better lyricist. End of Story.

  • @MermaidAntihero1988 lol ok. but Noel's a better singer.

  • @mgeorge733

There are plenty of artists with good singing voices who make shit music. So, what you said means nothing.

  • @MermaidAntihero1988 ..Well it does cus that point isnt valid in Noel's case. Same goes for Liam. You're in a HUGEminority disliking someone who's been successful, popular, influential, respected in their industry, and who's music has (and will) stand the test of time for another 20+ years. They'd sell out a World Tour in hours due to their talent and back catalogue. Whether you like/dislike it on a personal level is irrelevant, thats the truth. I can accept I'm wrong sometimes too, you know.

  • @mgeorge733

It's a fact that Oasis only had 2 good albums, & the only reason why the 1st one was good was because it was a rip off of Blur. The 2nd one was just luck. Since then any asshole who loves those albums will buy any piece of shit Noel/oasis shits out.

  • Respond to this video... I got your comment the wrong way round, thought you meant Pete Doherty. Youre fucking bang wrong on both points though. Sold out gigs up and down the country, great live performances and acoustic sets. Go watch it and tell me that he's lost his edge. You're wrong.

  • honest plagiarism is the best thing that ever happened to rocknroll

  • me encantaaaaaaaa (L)

  • best song in The Libertines, catchy guitar, good lyrics,Powell's drum banging

The Libertines makes some quality rock

  • love them!

  • jahat molek..

  • Wow. War or Hands of Time. Rip-off. Scummers.

  • @Lewelltam So do you consider Dylan, Clapton, The Beatles, and the Stones to be "scummers" as well? Love and theft buddy. Think before you type next time.

  • @youhavegeniusshins This is plagiarism. Outright plagiarism of a now little-known band. How the fuck are you going to defend that?

Think before I type next time? Oh please won't you teach me how!

  • @Lewelltam Umm...did you not read my last comment? Popular music is full of plagerism. I'm not defending anything, I'm just asking you a question that you are choosing to evade.

As far as teaching you how to think before you type, I would but you can't teach a fool anything, they already know it all. Enjoy your life.

  • @youhavegeniusshins As much as I'd like to walk you through a musical history of legal cases in which song-writers have been successfully sued for the direct misappropriation of melodies created by other songwriters; as much as I'd enjoy trading insults over the internet with a person whom I know nothing about nor am ever likely to meet, I think I'll put an end now to my involvement in our little spat. I wish you well.

  • @Lewelltam I'm afraid your reading comprehension skills are a bit lacking. I don't need you to walk me through anything, thanks very much. Take care.

  • bilo is his cats name

  • After that CRAZY GREAT reunion this Summer, what are we fans going to do to get these guys back where they belong?! Together on stage being the best rock and roll band in a long time. Wanna beg with me? Dear Libertines, PLEASEY .... we want more! (insert begging eyes here)! smiles!

  • @bevyk777 WHEN IS THE REUNION?

  • @romthe1st Hi! The reunion was already held last august.... i didn't get to go, but I'm still watching the videos all the time. SO GOOD! Type in 'libertines reading or leeds' in the search block and be prepared to watch some exciting videos. They played a few shows - you'll see them all come up after that. The fans were so excited - that it's contagious! Have fun!

  • fuckin brilliant

  • a hidden gem

  • what video is the bit at 0:12 to 0:16 from?

  • it's the best song from the album. i love it, i love pete's voice, i love the libertines. sorry for mistakes i'm from germany.

i wish in germany were bands like the libertines or babyshambles. british bands are the best, american bands sucks. i wish i could see them live! please come to germany!!!

  • @frichoco most americans bands suck but if you loook around youll find some good ones. I know im from america.

  • @strokes1911 I'm from Britain and totally agree with you it's definitely quality over quantity when comparing British Bands to American Bands but there is the few good american bands like The Strokes being a prime example

  • Gonna see the libertines play this live in 2 weeks. It's gonna be pure happiness!

  • i'm in love with this video! :)

  • @goingmadrider

    thats totally right!

gary its a great drummer and all the rest of the boys are a real musicians too.

The libertines are not just Pete. So true.

  • 2:26 to 2:33 (the final piece of video) what gig is this?

  • @oneexclamationmark they are at Live8 "children of the revolution"

  • Genius

  • @Oxford2202 Oh really?? Try listening to: Master Apprentices - War Or Hands Of Time

  • can someone tell me what does "last post on bulge" mean??

  • @xXxJokerManxXx The bugle is a musical instrument :)

  • @xXxJokerManxXx wikipedia knows everything

  • @xXxJokerManxXx You're a joker man!

  • @xXxJokerManxXx last line of cocaine up the nose

  • "AS they led him away the sang that boys no different today except in every single way"

I've got that pinned to my door.

  • They copied this from Masters Apprentices's "War or hands of time" a '66 old song.

    You're not original guys...

  • sid copied my 'way' but he was original wasnt he?

  • @Libertinedreamful

Yeah! It was cause he made a "cover" in a personal way.

This is not a cover, in fact this doesnt have the same title.

If u want to do a cover you MUST to quote where you toke it from...

  • its not exactly like they just nicked the riffs and hoped nobody would notice...someone would obviously cotton on eventually. i think its a cool way to get younger people to start listening to older music...well thats my opinion

  • @VecchiaStoria this whole thing has been going on for years, we ALL know. theres only so many chords to go round, plus i prefer what petes done with it

  • @VecchiaStoria

They said it was actually a cover. But they changed caus' they had no rights. I'ts not like BB Brunes copied the Libertines or Babyshambles. This is a cover, slightly changed but with the same lyrics.

    The libertines ARE very original.

  • @albionaute hey there you mentioned bb brunes, i'm curious as to why? =p

  • great video

  • Genius :)

  • The best way to download this as an mp3 is on that site mp3iifffy. Awesome site. GOOGLE mp3iifffy

  • 27th august an 28th they'll be in Leeds and Reading!

  • Dohertys dad was a Major in the Royal Signals good lad, he is horrified at whats become of Pete. I knew him when he was a kid. Krefeld late 80s...

  • Comment removed

  • @perryboy58

Everyone says the same thing. But Honestly. After about a minute, neither song is alike. I think Doherty just sourced inspiration from Masters Apprentice.

Anyway, I think Carl wrote this song.

  • wrong

    they back in 2011

  • i'm gonna fuckin' cry...

    libertines are gods!

  • they were =[

    they are no more

  • love pete love babyshjambles loved the libertines! fuckin genius!

  • yea im a libertines fan you cockface

  • fuckin hell this masters apprentice shit has gone on for years, same chords, different song, only so many chords to go round. is there even any pete fans here or is it just metal head wanks with narrow minds

  • Here here, The Libertines, Babyshambles, Pete Doherty!! FUCKIN' LEGENDARY - better than being in misery, hanging around pointing the finger without hearing the voice and feeling the sound, people being pricks to be part of the masses who say what they see in the papers and embarrass us. Well at least the are a few who know whats great as for the rest of you fuck of this page!

  • your in agreement then, people dont appreciate Pete cos their instant negative attitude towards substances get in the way. That also goes for those that think this tune is a rip off, i bet petes never even fuckin heard masters apprentice.

  • see i never saw this bit! LMAO sorry x

  • see i did express my view just earlier on :P no worries. and its good u actually consider where and wat tattoos u can get and look good, so many women, and men dont these days !

  • dont tell me to shut up i didnt say fuck all bad about pete or babyshambles i was sticking up for them, learn to read. skills on the tattoo though, i fancy the heart on my arm

  • well i can read first of all and i'll tell who i want to shut up! learn to express your views more clearly! Heart tattoo sounds brilliant i want more but as being a woman i have to be careful where i put them but i would like to replicate something of his

  • @angelasnagg please dont worry the son of bob dylan has met the clash an immaculate conception stay good queen

  • @tiahol6 oh i agree and im always good! Peace xx

  • 1:29 - where/when was that?

  • its at the nme awards in 2005 a think n its babyshambles playing albion

  • War or Hands of Time

  • yeah,...lol

  • in thier prime, they were like a new age Clash,..these were the last U.K.band that gave me any excitement or faith in some thing new,but they blew it ,or 1 of em did anyway,....loved the albums though.......!!!

  • pete is really crazy.

  • Wow!! This is a strange coincidence indeed!? How the hell did I come across this?

Having heard the Masters Apprentice long before I knew this band existed, I have noted this shameful score as a rip-off!

    Thank you and good night!

  • what song?

  • wow, you're absolutely right, this is a rip-off

  • send me a link of what it's ripped off from

  • "As they led him away they sang "oh thast boy's no different today except in evdery single way""

    Burning beautiful words.

  • masters apprentices would be proud...well not really

  • very good video!!

    the best band ever: The Libertines <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  • what the fuck is this shit? Are they kidding, man I'm embarrassed for the masters apprentices hearing this, just fucking awful. You got to be on crack to think this is good. Go ahead negative this comment a bunch but this is just bad even worse than the we the people my brother the man ripoff done by the horrors...

  • Different strokes for differnt folks.

  • pete is amazing

  • this junked-up doof can't even "write"rip-off a song. Give the Masters Apprentice a handclap...

  • Oh god, you're back again adding your mediocre comments. Why can't you stay away from it. Maybe you dig the emotional singing, the heavy drums and the hypnotic guitar playing.

    Much luv

  • who`s one of your fav bands eh? IF U DON'T LIKE IT U MUST HAVE 2 MUCH TIME ON UR HANDS. BORING SIMPLE SIMON ASS MUTHA F###ER

  • Its a shame he has become a caricature of himself rather than being recognised as one of our generations best lyricists.

    Liber....tines.

  • love it!!!!

  • masters apprentices are shit. libertines are amazing.

  • It's not a rip off it's a vast improvement.

  • wanna shut up?

only so many chords to go round

    pete. we love ya

  • no. no.

  • they do

  • I don't think there is a rip off. Pete seems to be really talented in terms of songwritings but I could ofc be wrong..

  • im thinking o f yout LOVE!!!! LA LA LA LA !!! AWESOME!!!

  • Never mind that look at Lobelia Sound Lord of the Dance??

  • I don't know how anyone could make a comparison to the sounds of bands 40+ years apart.Recording technology, the guitar playing, the amps etc. make a big difference. The MA played this way because they were in the vanguard of how to play modern rock. They played the equipment available to them at the time. There was no book or instructional DVD on how to rock in '66

Everybody is 'good' today because they have had 30 years to repeat and improve upon the sounds and technology .

  • Come off it. The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Cream don't sound dated but MA do. Good hard rocking music like the Libs music does not date. It's not about the technology it's about the spirit.

  • the masters apprentices don't sound dated and they had much more spirit than some overrated bullshit like this.

  • Hi Brother

This feud is stupid. I love this song and I think MA did something special. But if you guys are gonna take shots I'm gonna fire back.

    Much luv

    T+T

  • I found this after looking at a Masters Apprentice video. The running commentary supporting this Libertines song is laughable. I enjoy some of the Libertines stuff, but the Masters Apprentices song (War or Hands of Time)which this borrows from is just brilliant and this song is pretty lame by comparison.

  • You've gotta be joking. MA is just another third-rate sub Mickie Most outfit. It's lightweight commercial psychedelia. This song is much, much stronger emotionally, it rocks harder and the musicians are so much more talented.

You MA supporters are just stubborn, old fashioned mules.

  • Sorry it's not hype. I am an old (in rock and roll years) dude and I haven't dug a new band in years and was willing to hate the Libs promotion. The song did it. The loud guitar riff and drums on Last Post are hypnotic and Peter's singing is emotionally charged. Come on man who needs Masters Apprentice when you have the Yardbirds. Last Post is on a different more adventurous level.

  • We are obviously hearing different things. For me, Wars or Hands of Time is a classic. I fail to hear anything in Last Post that supports your claims. But if it works for you, then thats what matters. As for the Yardbirds comparison, I have enough love to give for both them and the Masters.

  • Fair enough. I guess I think the MA song is over arranged. Like British blues before Cream changed everything. The Libs are more rock and roll and R&B. To me they are more like the Stones on Get off my Cloud.

    Take care

  • if your idea of rock n roll is this you really need your head checked, by the way to make a big correction the masters apprentices are more blues rock /beat based than psych (get the MASTERS APPRENTICES meaning), they only dabbled in psych on a few singles, none of which you probably even heard judging by your descriptions of what they sound like.

  • Hey Dude

Sorry I haven't had the time to listen to the whole Masters Apprentice back catalogue. Sure I'll get round to it some time but the comparisons only refer to two songs. I just think this song is more emotionally direct and harder rocking than MA. Your barking is not gonna change my mind either.

    Much luv

    T+T

  • then to say they're a "third-rate sub Mickie Most outfit" is kind of dumb isn't it if you don't even know more than 2 songs by them. I

  • Check out Toast to Panama Red album or their earliest stuff with Mick Bower and you might change your mind about them.

  • Thanks for the tip. I should never have got involved in this stupid feud.

    Take care.

  • who needs the Master's Apprentices when you have the yardbirds? Are you a fucking retard?

    1. They sound nothing alike

    2. who needs this shitty rip off of War or hands of time, when the Master's Apprentices do it so well to begin with?

  • Maybe I am. Certainly sharper than you, however. Very small comfort though.

The Libs sample the song they don't rip it off. Like I keep on saying if you dig second tier psychedelic pop MA is your group. If you like hard rocking, inventive and emotional music then the Libs are for you.

Anyway I think your just being ornery for patriotic reasons.

    Much luv

    T+T

  • hmmm how many excellent ,lyricly genius songs did they bring out, wait ill wiki it.

  • I agree completely with you

  • Didn't Masters Apprentices release this song in 1967?

  • Thanks for posting this and...

    what an excellent **hommage**

thumbs up to anyone who ever argued that the libs tried to pull a fast one with this one, really... Stick to sutff like summer hits because thats the utmost reach of your subtlety

  • **stuff** heh :P

  • There's no need for subtlety anyway. The Libs are way better than MA. You from Australia originally? Aussies cling to this one because Australia rock's so lousy they go crazy for a single gem.

  • atoron *0*

  • I'm so madly in love with Peter :D

  • This is just so much better than the Master's Apprentice song. Compare the guitar, drumming and vocals and you'll see how superior this is. The Libertines are the real thing, my friend. They are ultrapowerful heroes.

  • I suppose to a connoisseur scholar of roll it sounds like crap. To an untutored fan like me it's true. If you can't hear how much better this version is than MA there aren't many words I can use to convince you.

    Take care

    Take care

  • this is one of my favourite libertines songs. it makes me cry. always. if only just a bit ...

    thanks for the beautiful video

  • Every musician has been influenced by another at some point, thats why they play, cos they love music.

  • Muy buenos los libertines...

  • EASY U DICK! EVERY SONG N THE WORLD IS RIPPED OFF!!

there aint that many chords u know! there just played differently......

  • g, f, bflat, d.. try it sounds cool ^^ nd it isn't neccesarily a bad thing if they used elements of that 60s song.. it's keeping the music alive.

  • First part of the song has been ripped off. Check out 'Wars or Hands of Time" by the Masters Apprentices
