My hanging filter is screwing up but still running. What is the correct way to replace with a new but different style hanging filter. I have a ten gallon tank
Activated carbon is sh it it will kill your fish if u keep it in your tank for longer than 2 months it will leach out all the crap that it sucked in, seachem make a product called purigen thats 100000 million times better do some reserch if your interested
@0rgazmatron I like purigen also. But Seachem makes a ton of crap products also. I high reef grade carbon say a pelleted carbon would blow away purigen. I use purigen for my planted aquariums becuase it doesnt suck my trace elements out. You can still use carbon in a planted tank if you fertilize by the root instead of liquid based fertz.

I had mine on for 6 months in a overloaded tank,
which was 1 Oscar in a small tank.

Are you not suppose to rinse or soak the carbon first befor you put it in ??
