  • This was back when all was good.

  • Do you have a clip of Layla by Derek and the Dominoes from 2001? If so, upload it.

  • I remember this. That day it was quite rare since thunderstorms made it all the way to on the beach in So Cal. A good lightning show here in the Valley where I am at on that day.

  • LOL!!

    Layla!!

    My Favorite Song on TWC!!

  • No, I don't have that whole local forecast, I'm afraid.

  • @ILovestorms How often did the original 1 minute flavor air during this era?

  • @TWCFanChris, my fav TWC song is Green Onions by Booker T. and the MG's

  • Why would your XL bar go on, 2 seconds later go back off?

  • Back then, they had to take the LDL off before displaying a lower third - otherwise, the LDL would completely block the lower third.

  • These are great videos! It's a shame you won't quit holding a grudge against me, and let me put these on the site for many more people to enjoy (what that's about is beyond me).

  • I will not hold a grudge against you anymore. However, I would rather you not put these on your site unless you would give me the credit for it. As long as you would give me the credit for it, I would not mind b/c these belong to me.

  • I absolutley would give you credit. I would never put someone's videos on the site without giving proper credit. It would be theft.

  • the song as the very beginning is Layla by Derek and the Dominoes

  • They still had their old set at the time?

  • This was a transitional appearance while the Global Forecast Center was being built. Before this, the map in the background was much smaller (as you can probably see in some other videos). The huge map seen in this video was used to cover up all of the construction being done.

By the way, the Global Forecast Center made its debut on August 20, 2001.

  • I'm guessing this allowed TWC do check up international cities for weather conditions, right?

  • Well, they certainly ramped-up their in-house international forecasting at this time, from what I understand.
