  • This version was nicely done. Your "Mr. Hooper" was spot on. I tried doing my version on a boat but it didn't pan out. I used a friends garage and with the help of some cue cards I was able to do my version of the speech. Again, good job!

  • You got the first part wrong...but then again, everyone misunderstands what Quint (Robert Shaw) says after the word "Tinian". After the U.S.S. Indianapolis dropped off the parts for the Hiroshima A-bomb, they were to make for Leyte (in Phillipines) after a quick stop at Guam. It was soon after leaving Guam, on it's way to Leyte, that the Indianapolis was torpedoed. So, Quint says: "We was coming back from the island of Tinian to Leyte..."

  • good with camera, acting needs to be better.

  • very good job guys

  • Great job, pacing was good and its obvious you have a thorough knowledge of the slow and faster points of the scene. Great delivery and extra points just for the spot on Hooper laugh. Amazing. Haha.

  • You guys did a great job and dare ANYBODY to do it just as good, much less better.

    Again FINE JOB!!!

  • Good stuff. What else you men got?

  • Robert Shaw isn't rolling in his grave for two reasons.

    1) This kid did a fine job, and was obviously moved by the original scene. I'm sure he would be flattered that people are still touched by this great scene.

    2) He was cremated and his ashes were scattered following his death.

  • its not in the final script, he did as lib quite a bit

  • Pretty good I must say, besides the missing line, but the way it played out, I couldn't really see the difference. Pretty good, especially how Hooper was played, seemed genuine. Good Job.

  • robert shaw is rolling in his grave !!

  • @lowgeemudbone yeah? well I DARE you to grab a camera and do better! In fact, I'll bet you don't have enough hair on your butt to even try.

  • nicely done, original and entertaining. i wasn't liking it at first but then I was drawn in by the story of the indi and forgot it was you telling the story I even got the feeling that you were in the bowels os a ship and when the table creaked that added to the illusion. if you do remake it to shake off the haters add sound effects like the creaking of the boat that would add to your brilliant work , overall great job.

  • Supposedly, Robert Shaw ad libbed the Indianapolis story. They were supposed to mention it in passing, but he went into the whole story, instead, because he was a bit of a history buff.

  • @andrewxc1335 Naw, it was scripted man. I watched the special edition DVD commentary. In fact the day before this version was shot, he showed up to the set drunk and did a horrible take on it and quite thoroughly embarrassed himself.

  • @Lowclef yep i saw it on a newish documentary on jaws

  • @Lowclef robert shaw was given one last chance with this monologue or else he was going to be fired from the film. the writing credits are disputed but many give shaw the credit. either way, a historic moment in cinematic history.

  • shit didn't know it was actually your video Lowclef, appologies, thought I was debating with a fan of it.

  • @OmniCosmoTouch Whats so wrong with it anyway? "a lot of it was inaccurate" give me a break! I missed one line "sharks took the rest" and all of a sudden, I suck and Robert Shaw is spinning in his grave? Eff you dude. By the way I'm still waiting on that video reply. What a freakin pot shot poser you are.

  • I will do soon, need to get a better phone though to upload them.

Look I'm not saying it was terrible, just no emotion, no enthusiasm & a lot of it was inaccurate. If you think thats a brilliant interpretation you are very easily plased if you get my drift. Sorry if I got to you, didn't mean to.

  • @OmniCosmoTouch I'm just saying I would love to see you do better. Everyone on youtube is so damn critical over the smallest thing I'd just like to see one of you cynical jerkwads put your money where your mouth is. I hear you talkin a lot of trash but you haven't uploaded not one single video of yourself.

  • @Lowclef FYI, William Hafford Sharp, former seaman on the USS Indianapolis passed away, story came up an hour ago.

May God bless all those brave men.

It was a shame and God will hold to account those who sent no escort and brought the Japanese captain to testify against Indy's captain, which lead to his suicide.

  • Quite poor overall, but 'Mr Hoopers' laugh when he said 'mother' at the begining was brilliant I thought.

  • @OmniCosmoTouch I would LOVE to see you do better. In fact do it and post a video reply! I DOUBLE DARE YOU!

  • well done !

  • Yo... dont listen to the negatives... you had fun doing it and it came out pretty damn good. I got a job once by doing this scene. The guy just freaked out and said " dude... Im from the Vinyard.. your hired"

  • thank you for blowing up the best scene of the 70s outside of Mike killing Fredo, but I assume you did that too.

Asshats, a net connection and a web cam = comedy faggots.

  • you're welcome

  • You didnt say "Sharks took the rest". But over it all it was pretty good.

  • I saw this as a youngster back then but years later in 1979.

It made my stomch turn, then again I was 7 years old. But as far as scary..........."Alien" scared me more.

  • good but you sound baked while doin Quint...

  • Damn, brother. Pretty damn descent!! Nice. Let me know if you make anymore. This is one of my all time favorite dramatic scenes. Good job.

  • i love hooper's laugh, spot on man!

  • Any tribute to Robert Shaw is welcome-a fine actor and a fine man...

    well done fellas!

  • Impressive EXCEPT for the fact Quint should be stage left from Hooper.

  • LMAO This is classic You guys have this down to the T. I love this movie, especially this part. Quint just cracks me up. Great job- Dude it's awesome

  • Dude shut up

  • Kiss my wind.

  • TMackovids3. When you've kissed my wind you can inhale my wind.

  • What the fuck does that even mean? Kiss my wind? What the hell? Ok well you can blow my air.

  • Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.

  • well then, lets see you put your money where your mouth is.

  • what

  • Well done! Bravo!

    S.S.

  • Great job. I think the ball player was from Cleveland, though.

  • Great job! :)

  • wow that was great! :) you even mumbled the words perfectly at the part about forming in tight groups, something about a bottle... to this day i still have no idea what robert shaw actually says

  • The whole speech is on IMDb.

Here are the words in question:

"...we formed ourselves into tight groups. You know, it was kinda like old squares in the battle like you see in the calendar named "The Battle of Waterloo..."

  • Amazing Job!!! you guys rock

    Keep it up

  • wankers!!

  • Wow, you even got Dreyfuss's annoying laugh right!

  • that was awesome good job!

  • ROFL lol

  • horrible

  • Excellent re-enactment!

  • btw, the monologue Robert Shaw delivered was NOT written. Robert Shaw came up with that on his own and Speilberg liked it. Anyway like I said great performance

  • Excellent performance ;)

  • Great job. Certainly the best re-enactment of that scene that I've seen.

  • thats a shame cause it was the most open performance I ever saw.

  • Robert Shaw won an academy award for this role didn't he?

  • No he didn't. Sadly, he was not even nominated. He should have been though, and he should have won. :)

  • Know what? It's really sad that Roy Scheider died but-check out Robert Shaws' acting-brilliant!!!

  • Great job recreating one of the best examples of acting (and writing) put on film. You should try it one more time with a little better lighting, and the uneven background noise was a little distracting also. Otherwise-nice acting!

  • Good effort.

  • So cool guys like you remember the great work of Robert Shaw!! and the best movie ever..Jaws. Respect! Brilliant!! Keep at it, do some more scenes!!

  • Need more feeling whe doing this. Couldn't understand some of it, you forgot part of it towards the end. You said "So 1100 went into the water 316 come out June the 29th, 1945" It's suppose to have been this.... So, eleven hundred men went in the water; 316 men come out and the sharks took the rest, June the 29th, 1945.

  • I tried to do it like Shaw with the old crusty fisherman voice thats why its not flawless english. And yes i realize i missed the 'sharks took the rest part'. but otherwise i think i did it justice.

  • Great Job all around. With certain lines your voice even sounded alot like Robert Shaw's.

  • thanks a lot. I tried to match his dialect as close as I could

  • Good job, tis a tall order recreating this memorable scene.

  • Impressive. The Dreyfuss laugh, in particular.

    "...like a doll's eyes."

  • thanks, I specifically tried to get that laugh.

  • Good and creative. I wonder why paris hilton is famous and people like u are'nt

  • Not bad, but your Quint's delivery was a bit too wistful. You need to add a tinge of anger and fear to your voice. Quint has to be reliving it as he is retelling it. That didn't come across. You sound like your telling someone else's story, not your own. Think: ACTING!!! ;)

  • thanks, I'll remember that next time

  • i agree...too much mumbling...not enough feeling....

  • Great acting!

Hope to see you on the silver screen someday,

    Good Luck!

  • Terrific Job! Wow!

That is my favorite part of thr movie good job

  • You deserve an Oscar, my friend! That was brilliant!

  • Best film ever [apart from ALIEN] that is !

  • Well done you.Great bit of work. You made a classic bit of cinema your own.***

  • Holy crap what a great job! Perfect. Even got Shaw's slur of words down. I'm amazed.

  • Excellent delivery! First rate! Bravo!

If I may offer some constructive criticism, you may want to add some more lights for the actors. Also you might want to record the sound separate because you can hear it when the camera changes perspective. May do just all the dialog on one track and the background noise on another to blend it all in.

Really great acting and blocking, though! You have that nailed down!

  • You nailed everything. Great job. I love when guys who recreate this scene include all the hard to hear ramblings and every little mannerism. Makes it that much better.

The only thing you forgot to say was "the sharks took the rest" ! How could you forgot, man!

    Liked the DX opening...haha.

And this was not lip-synced. I hate ignorant people.

  • Hands down, my favorite scene of the film. If I'm flipping through channels and I come across Jaws, I'll watch until this scene. Nice job.

  • Wow - very good. I was skeptical at first, but I think you pulled the scene off, capturing some of the minor nonverbal things he does as well. Very nice job...and like captainchew said, possibly the greatest monologue in movie history.

  • Nice job. Thanks for paying tribute to what is ostensibly the greatest monologue in modern film.

  • Pretty good lip-syncing...

  • DX!! lol haha great guys! ;) *jaws*
