  • great writing!!!!!!

  • @RyanWehr This short film was written by Roger Gould (Alexander/Nemo's father), Bob Peterson (Mr. Ray, Dug, Roz, and others), and Jeff Pidgeon (the green aliens).

  • "I am Jean-Micheal Cousteau."

    *Music plays*

"...And I've studied the ocean all my life."

"Well I'm *Dorr-hee!* And I practically LIVE in the ocean!! :D"

  • this is a nostalgic goldmine.

  • Dory is just the best character ever in this short! XD

  • hahaha I remember this memories!

  • @MrFisherman17: I don't think that's a quote from this video. You're quoting the feature film.

  • @dogman15

    Oops sorry my bad lol

  • @MrFisherman17 no, you're right, thats in this video, and also in the feature film.

  • Carlin burrito

    lmao

  • "Algae inside coral? That's creepy!" "No it is not!" "Yes it is!" "No it isn't!" "Is!" "Isn't!" "Is!"

I found it hilarious how both Dory and Nemo had that argument with Jean-Michel XD

  • When I saw Dory at 1:02 I laughed my ass off XD Did NOT see that coming XDDD

  • Jean-Michel: NO! Let me talk. The ocean, where you live, evaporates to form clouds, the clouds produce snow, the snow melts, feeding rivers, irrigation, drinking water, then down drains to sewers, all back to the sea! EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE AFFECTS THE OCEAN!

    Dory: Wow, amazing!

    Jean-Michel: Finally, you're listening!

Dory: Yeah, I can hear the ocean!

    Jean-Michel: AAAAAAAHHH!!!!! *Explicit French*

*elevator music and matching "please stand by"*

    Me: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

  • @thenewrelatables: According to the DVD subtitles, he's actually saying "Arrêtez maintenant! Je ne peux pas travailler comme ça!", which means something like "Arrgh, stop! I cannot work like this!"

    IMDb: /title/tt0375744/quotes?qt=qt0987259

  • "Im Jean-Michel Cousteau.*Music plays*" Lol

  • my fav part of the finding nemo dvds.

    will always be

  • 3:25 LOL Did someone say dancin? *begins dancing and hip music begins to play as Nemo and Dory join* Clear the reef, Papa's back in town!

  • I was quite surprised to see Dory in this when I saw this for the first time

  • Fish are friends, not food.

  • with fronds like these, who needs anenomes hahahaha

love the bit with the music when he says his name

  • Hahaha, I haven't seen this since like 5 years ago. =P Thank you so much for posting this! :D

And I think this IS the perfect balance of an education/humorous short film... You gotta remember that this is for kids on a kids dvd movie.

And is he speaking French or something on his little outburst? O.o

  • @TheAileenyWeenie:Yep. He's saying something like "Stop now! I cannot work like this!"

  • LOL, Jean-Michel got PrWN'd

  • @aardwolf71: That odd "r" you threw in there made me think of Prawns, which are a suborder of decapod crustaceans that lived/are living in the ocean.

  • @dogman15

Indeed. It was a reference to Jean-Michel being "Upstaged by fish", and the odd "r" was intentional to make it look like "prawn" lol.

  • @aardwolf71: You win a cookie for being so subtlely clever.

  • 2:07 HAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @cooldude333: I'd say she said "hey". "Hay" is horse food.

  • 6:10 you just have to pay attention and listen...WHY WOULD YOU LISTEN TO ME??!!

  • This is just adorable.

  • That was cool! And surprisingly educational. =)

  • @Queenychi179: Pixar knew what it/they was/were doing.

  • Totally Love Dory!! ^_^

  • i love how the music plays everytime he says jean-micheal cousteau

  • @musiclover4evr11: That's related to the "Sorry I Left The BackGround Music On" trope on TV Tropes and all of the related tropes it lists on that page.

  • 3:01-3:21 favorite part!!! :)

  • "AHHH! Arrêtez maintenant! Je ne peux pas travailler comme ça!!!!!!!" XD

(translation): "Stop now! I can not work like that!"

  • @JaDangerz: Did you get those fancy characters (the ê and the ç) from this title's IMDb page, Google Translate, or your computer's character map? I'm just curious.

When I submitted the IMDb info, I went off of the DVD's subtitles, and typed the characters with Character Map. No subtitles here, though.

But props to you for translating that.

  • @dogman15 yes i did on IMDB, after that, I used my 2 Mac Dashboard Translators to copy the text and paste it in both translators and made sure the translation was correct, that's all. And I thank you for putting this up ^^

  • @dogman15 Well, I myself use the ALT function. ç is ALT 135 and ê is ALT 136.

  • On 3:57, it was 100% funny!

  • Thank you very much for posting!

  • "This would've never happened to Papa." ROFL!!!! :)

  • 3:50, My favorite part!

  • @EdBoy1215:

And the joke lasts ten seconds.

  • hehe this is my fav extra.

  • I'm making a video for a contest and I'm going to make it a cheesy documentary. This is my inspiration.

  • Nice!

  • 3:25 to 3:34 is my favorite part but i've always wondered why the looked like they got hit at the end lol. i used to watch this all the time on my disk 2 of finding nemo a few years back. =]

  • At 3:34, they weren't hit; I believe they just stopped because Cousteau yelled.

  • okay. thank you. =)

  • I agree. It is an odd mix of live action and animation. It needed to sway one way or the other, like Dori does in the film. Speaking of Dori, my favorite part of this is at 2:06-2:08: "So Long Dori!" "Hey!!".

  • I thought you might like to know that her name is Dory.

Personally, I think the mix of animation and live action is balanced just right for the humor.

  • Hmmm, you do make a good point, or should I say 2 good points.

  • @bakerpb That's a good one, bakerpb!

  • thanks for posting i've been looking for this for a long time

  • Happy to oblige!

  • I did not particularly enjoy this. It did not know what it wanted to be - a comedy or a mini-documentary. It started to get good when it became informative at 4:20 and the characters and Jean started narrating together. I don't mind if the characters play a part, but it was frustrating how intrusive they were for such a long portion of the movie. But thanks for posting :)

P.S. Hope this counts as critical commentary!

  • You bet it does! Thanks for commenting. Personally, I thought parts of this were pretty funny, and there's something else interesting about it too: From "Monsters, Inc." onwards, the DVD releases came with short films that weren't shown theatrically. Everyone thinks of Mike's New Car, Jack-Jack Attack, Mater/Ghostlight, Friend/Rat, BURN-E, and Dug's S. Mission, but I think this is Finding Nemo's unsung short film. (A Bug's Life and Toy Story had comparable short animations that weren't film...)
