  • Luke,

Your dad was the man. He was probably the only news guy I ever trusted. Sorry about your loss.

  • i love luke

  • Well said luke my friend well said. i miss tim as a journalist as a person too. idk if he was a neutral journalist, not really matters to me BUT to me he seemed like one. not much if any bias in one direction or the other. the proof i have is BOTH mccain, and obama showed up. that to me says it all. this was a beautiful eulogy

  • Tim Russert was the only journalist that I "BELIEVED' ...The rest of the journalists, both on TV and the paper,s are and always will be biased one way or the other..I miss Tim Russert,,,,,as does those that miss honest journalism.

  • Tim Russert was the only journalist that I "BELIEVED' ...The rest of the journalists, both on TV and the paper,s are and always will be biased..I miss Tim Russert,,,,,

  • A son's love for his father is admirable. But the rest of us have to live with the effects of his father's incessant sucking up to washington politics. Believe me, we , and our children bear the brunt of his malicious hate--too strong word for a weak-ass person,so I'll invent a new one:suckupness.

  • @raydog699 ...you got that right.

Now fatty junior gets gigs on the weight of nepotism.

I couldn't agree with you more-this country is going to hell and we can thank 'journalists' like Russert, who shilled for the predatory ruling class by refusing to discuss the federal reserve, false flag terror, and the other issues ruining this country because he thought his masters would take care of him.

  • my apologies christiana taking over on this week not meet the press what a goof i am leave it to me im sure tim wouldve gotten a laugh out of this big sunday morning political follower guy cant even get his shows straight ha,ha oh well human is something i wont deny

  • luke take your dads show over i hear christiana amanapour is going to do it she will probably be good for a year or two and she will hang it up get in there and do it or maybe even back her up do interviews god bless you and your family i loved your dad he wasnt afraid to ask anything anytime loved his in your face philosophy and his loyalty to the buffalo bills always loved them as well hope they get back to the game one day kid get in the mix its in your blood too

  • I always enjoyed and learned a lot from watching "Meet the Press: and had the utmost respect for Tim Russert. I think Luke did a fine job of honoring his dad at a most difficult time.

  • Wow, you went and got 'em Luke, thanks.

  • he's cute

  • Actually is started with Reagon who de-regulated everything allowing corperations to do whatever they want (and they did). Then Clinton missed some opertunities to fix the problem (but this could be very well due to the fact that Clinton had to deal with a Republican controled congress who thought is was more important to meddle in the presidents personal life rather than fix our future). Then W completely ruined our economy by allowing companies to break even more laws.

  • The only way out of this mess was to get money moving again, and thats just what Obama is trying to do. So yes or great great grandchildren MIGHT be in debt, but that is not at all Obama;s fault. CHECK YOUR HISTORY BEFORE OPENING YOUR MOUTH!

  • @walyern what does that have to do with tim russert???...dont be posting ierelivent content

  • @tagcheeta1992 It is a response to other comments. Talk to the other commentors too.

  • right wingers are such losers---Go Palin!! LOL

  • Fuck you.

You throw sarcasm in the face of a 22-year-old who loved his father and spoke about it, eloquently and powerfully. He's a credit to his family and his father's single greatest achievement.

Who would speak for you so powerfully? What have you accomplished that would bring people from around the country to celebrate your life and mourn your loss?

  • Well, for one thing, unlike Tim Russert, I'm not likely to be mistaken for a compost pile anytime soon.

  • You are a douche bag. When Luke Russert takes a dump and flushes the toilet, I hope it lands on your head.

  • I just saw Springsteen in concert and thought of Tim. The elections weren't the same without him. He's a great journalist and there aren't that many of him left. Luke is an amazing young man with his pose and character. Tim thought him well.

  • Tim Russert was a true original. I never knew him personally, but it seems like I did. He spoke the truth and demanded the truth. What an amazing man. We miss you Tim!!! You were a voice for so many. May God be with his friends and family.

  • I can't imagine having such composure. The only time you could see any hint of sadness was once he was finished.

Some day, when my father dies, I want to be that strong.

  • Comment removed

  • what a brave young man, you can see the pain in his face after he's finished...what a great job his parents did. Handsome young man too.

I love how they love they their faith.

    BLessings,

  • you are insensitive, this young man is paying respect to his father who has just passed!!! and he is NOT an idiot! he's nice kid. Please, be nicer, didn't your parents teach you anything???

I hope you realize becz the world needs more kindness, nor jerks

  • Looks like tim standin there.

  • Here's to Tim Russert and to the great legacy of love, and honor carried on by his son Luke. What a strong young man to have given this speech so soon after his father's passing. It must have been so difficult.

  • What a great son.

  • Have some class people.

  • michellemalkin45=hate-filled-sac-of-puss

Do humanity a favor, go grab an ice pick and pop yourself.

  • It's so hard to imagine why anyone would make such nasty remarks. Don't you all have anything better to do with your time. Some of us really liked Tim Russert and no one deserves the bad things said about them printed here.

  • Michelle is an idiot...why join her?

  • michellema45....do you not have anything in your brain at all?

  • jerk

  • you are to be pitied. I've always heard if someone doesn't have anything intelligent to say they talk smut.. well, I guess you proved that theory!

  • michelle and malkin, deserve a lifetime of pain

  • drop dead braveVIRGINFAGGOT...go fuck a tranny, get AIDS, and die, Commie LOSER TROLL

Luke the fag will join his fat pig dad in hell...LMFAO at the Commie faggot

  • Hey michelle, I hope you enjoy getting anally raped by satan in hell. Suck a vaginal blood fart out of your diseased vagina.

  • Fatso? OMG thats so insulting. You are obviosly a feeble minded retard that can barely spell, Go lick an 80 yr old prostitutes anus after shes had the runs, but make sure you have sex with a 3 day old dead monkey corpse first, then have a same sex marriage to your mother after you fingerbang her

  • I hope all 40 of your virgins are 90 years old with the clap

  • yeah, your mom is one of them.

  • great speech

  • I would never missed sunday "Meet the Press" almost all my life here in America. I don't know why but Tim's charismatic smile hooked me into being fanatic of him. He was my number one of all MSNBC personalities, he was every where. When I see on TV, Remembering Tim Russert, I stopped everything I am doing; called my husband and disbelief of what was going on. I miss Meet the Press. The whole world will miss him. Luke you are blessed to have a father like him, other than you look like him....

  • At 6:33 when Luke looks up outta the corner of his eye he looks just like his dad...the smirk and all.

Great speech and the way his dad would want it.

  • WOW. How cold hearted. I'd LOVE to see you stand up in front of a room full of people...not to mention the nation and make a speech about your parent who died suddenly and be able to hold it together like he did here. I'm the same age as Luke and theres NO WAY i could get up and talk about one of my parents the way he does.

-And how exactly can you call Big Russ cold-hearted? That man loved Tim...you could see it. But whatever. When you can do what Luke did then you can make remarks like that.

  • Great speech.

  • Superb. Very moving and true to the optimistic nature and unpretentious attitude Russert had.

  • Wow- how mature and well spoken. I always liked watching his dad- even though I didn't follow politics that much- he made it interesting. what a great man.

  • What an astounding young man, a true testament to the his mother and father. Well done.

  • What an excellent father to raise such a son.

I pray that Tim (before he tapes thousands of MTP Peter's Gate, he's having a ball up there), will ask the heavenly father to give to the hearts of all American men, the desire for true fatherhood and families the sense of never forgetting their roots and what's important. I pray for Big Russ, that somehow having Tim's help from heaven will comfort him. Well done, good and faithful servant. May fatherhood be recognized and loved. Much love dads.

  • Amen:) --

  • I really hope he takes over his father's position on Meet the Press. I understand there are many accomplished journalists who are better qualified.. but this kid was groomed by the best.

  • Luke - you have no idea what an ispiration you are. My first loves are my family, my faith and my Buffalo Bills (and Sabres). God bless you and all you do!

  • OMG this boy is SO hot!!!!

  • He's kinda hot isn't he? I like his dimples, he has a babyface. A hot baby???? LOL....

  • The Jesuits really taught Tim and Russ well. The hallmarks of an Ignatian education really come out of their pores--eloquence, wisdom, excellence, faith, and a very discerning sense of compassion. All for the Greater Glory of God (Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam).

  • What a country!

  • F'ing Brilliant

  • That was a great euology, Luke!! Sorry for your loss!

  • WOW! Luke is amazing in this!

  • Tim was a great reporter and he'll be missed. RIP Tim. And to you guys who are talking sh@# about him...shut your faces.

  • R.I.P. Luke.

  • Luke is not the one who is dead.

  • ....bless you Luke Russert.

You were give a wonderful father and mother....you were blessed and yes, not entitled as your father would say...

Loss gives us our depth and prespective and a great appreciateion of life....go forth, and be the success your father knew you could achieve...work hard, play harder...and make your father smile down upon your life...remember your mother often now and most importantly always....somewhere over the rainbow thats a double..go forth and get 'em...and GO BILLS

  • Tim Russert was a harbinger of truth and equality. For this, he was greatly loved and admired by all. For no other reason than this. There are many nice guys in the

media. But not everyone is on the correct side and speaks up for the good of the people. This takes courage. And that's what Tim was all about.

  • ur not worth this comment but i bet youve never even watched meet the press. and ur also probably a communist

  • Your one sad person with one goal in life and that is YOU WILL DIE TOO ONE DAY!! REmember that. Because we will all die one day too, onerpone!!! I Will Pray For YOu!!

  • onerpone, considering that you're going around leaving this nasty (and somewhat ignorant) message on multiple videos honoring this honorable man, you seem to give several sh*ts about him. Tim Russert would have stood up for your right to be as ignorant as your hard little heart desires, though, so in that spirit, more power to you.

God bless Tim's wife and son and all those who respected him for his decency and dedication to his family, his job, and this country. I'll miss his smiling face.

  • Perhaps instead of spreading unkind thoughts of someone who died, you could use your energy to do something positive. Tim was a man of integrity and that obviously is a rare quality today. It is a sad shame that you are unable to see the importance of this man's life.

  • Generally speaking, I am no fan of people in the media spotlight. They're overly self important, self congratulatory self appointed experts. That said, I must congratulate Mr. Russert on what an obviously fine job he did raising this young man. I think it shows the importance of a good father in the life of a child. Creepy guys who have kids and abandon them should take note.

  • Wow. Inspired.

  • JERK? REALLY?

  • What's wrong with you? If you didn't like Tim Russert then good for you because he's dead! You don't need to be posting here where people are paying their last respects to the man.Nobody will ever be loved by all, but if you didn't like Tim, you will not be hearing from him again so 'yay you'!!! Now get outta here...

  • Of all the talking heads on TV, Mr. Russert was the man of integrity and the consumate pro. Of all the "journalists" we see day to day, it would have been great to have him with us thru this most difficult election cycle. We cannot be certain of the competitions integrity, which leaves all of affected by his life. Salute!

  • Luke is amazing. Just like his dad. :)

  • Tim Russert was amazing..and he will be greatly missed.

  • Thank you, onerpone. Russert did a job that any one of a million plus people in the US could've done just as well. Furthermore, the job in question did not really help people or humanity in any significant way WHATSOEVER. Finally, if you think that I'm heartless, maybe you should consider that you're just overpropagandized. Celebrity worship is bad. Celebrity worship of an establishment goon is double plus bad.

  • ur a jerk he just lost his father and all you can do do is insult him?!

  • Wow, someone really must've rubbed sand in your vagina.

  • You know, Tim Russert has interviewed and challenged people from Ross Perot, to Dick Chaney, to Barack Obama. His challenge to Hillary Clinton on lincense plates was the turning point in her campaign. And yet James Cartville has said nothing but good things about Russert. Russert has been praised and admired from everybody from Sean Hannity to Keith Olbermann, from George Bush to Barack Obama. The only people who have said anything bad about Russert are the Paulites

  • ronpaulwasright.......regardless of political opinion, you are a pathetic excuse for a human being. Your mother must have dropped you on your head so many times there is permanent damage. I feel so sorry for you.

  • Tim's eloquence, humor and articulate manner definitely lives on in his greatest work, his son.

Luke was stunning, charming, warm and touching.

Who amongst us could deliver such a heartfelt speech with such strength and composure only 5 days after losing a parent.

When I saw this live yesterday, I didn't feel sad or mournful but rather I felt impressed and oddly proud of a young man I've never met and yet feel as though I've known for a long while

  • mmm, I get off on liberal insults. keep them coming kids, you one day will learn

  • oh well.. another lousy reporter gone, big deal

  • you're a big jerk!

  • shut up u homo!

  • you are a piece of horse shit.

  • if Tim Russert is a lousy reporter, I'd like to see what you consider to be a "good reporter"

  • Very TOUCHING...The APPLE has definitely FALLEN very close to the TREE!!!

God Bless You Tim...You will be REMEMBERED...As a MAN of DIGNITY, INTEGRITY, and GRACE!

  • What an amazing young man. I commend him to be able to do that, and with such grace and composure.... I think his Dad is proud !!!!

    R.I.P. Tim Russert

  • To witness this families strength & grace at their time of loss is inspiring. America, what a great country.

  • What enormous shoes those will be to fill. I hope Luke doesn't even try because it will never be enough. He deserves to find his own voice, his own way, live his own life. He will - by virtue of who he is and the gifts he's been given - do himself and his father proud.

And by the way, could Maureen be any more magnificent and elegant? Any more dignified? What amazing strength SHE has, too!

  • Luke should NOT host MTP, that's a crazy idea! He still wants to go to graduate school anyway. I think he should do whatever Luke wants to do, he's a great kid and is probably going to be successful at whatever he chooses to do. Good luck to him. I don't care for this 'replacing' Tim idea, someone will have to do MTP in their own new way, and that's perfectly fine with me.Nobody 'REPLACES' another person, let alone Tim Russert!!

  • It's looking more and more as though Chris Matthews will take the spot on MTP. He has the years at NBC and he has the contacts in Washington...he can do the job but he's got to rein in his personality a bit. If he doesn't, he could destroy the program.

  • That was simply put it Awesome

  • If Luke is up to filling his dad's shoes and seat, he should be the new host of Meet the Press. Nobody can take the place of Tim Russert. Nobody.

  • i agree! he should fill his shoes in meet the press!!!!!!!!

    RIP TIM RUSSERT

  • With grace, dignity and courage, Luke Russert exudes his father's influence. I feel certain Tim was smiling down from Heaven with his chest sticking out with pride during Luke's tribute to his abundantly blessed life. Tim Russert's life and legacy make me want to be a better person, overall, each and every day. My God continue to bless the Russert Family.

  • OMG i was just saying that, Tim Russert's life and legacy make me want to be a better person! Luke is a good son and seems like a good person too.The way he (Luke) handled this is very comforting, i was devastated for them when i heard about Tim's death but seeing Luke speak, you know they're going to be ok.Now they have to adjust to the emptiness of life without Tim Russert, from experience, that's the most difficult part.

  • I just watched it, and he's an AMAZING kid.

He should date Betsy Fischer. She's a deadly little thing.

  • Let's moke a boke luke!

  • I can definitely see a bit of Tim in Luke. I can't imagine how he is holding up this well, but I think that shows the true character of him and his family. Rest in Peace Tim, you left behind a WONDERFUL legacy.

  • Luke should be the new host of "Meet The Press"

  • well done, Luke!

  • Goosebumps...Tim's true legacy. Exceptional kid.

  • Wonderful tribute, Luke; you're certainly a chip off the old block!! I can see Tim's influence in every word you spoke!

  • He is just like his dad. RIP TIM.

  • St. Albans Class of 2004!

  • its amazing how he keeps his humor during such a difficult time.

  • poor kid

  • very classy young man. his father would be extremely proud. the way he carried himself throughout this time has been tremendous.
